what the hell does going south mean? leaving a higher game for a lower one?

Going south is taking chips off the table, thus taking them out of play. Some players will even try to do this during a hand when they think they are beat!

Once chips are on the table they stay in play, and at risk, unless you change 'stakes' .. not tables (unless you are in Toledo or Mount Pleasant) or get up for the session. GL

I mean I just can't win with you guys. If I change tables, its tablechangecity, if I go south MULTIPLE times, I'm going south and it's not cool. If I go north it's somehow ok at 10/20 but not at 2/5. Too many rules. I just want to play my 2 cards and go home (before colluders arrive).

well I'd hope this is a rule in the room as it seems pretty standard. and if so, I'd hope that the dealers would enforce if they see it.

Sounds like the rules on max buyin are different in these 2 games. You think the rules should be the same for all poker games?

It's not exactly hard to do or something you need to be that slick at. People have made a living past posting in games where a lot more attention is being paid and the window to act is very small. Sneaking a green here a green there off a 9 handed paint dry nlhe game whenever you see the opportunity is basically a matter of if you want to do it you can do it.

Sorry to encourage or educate cheating but it is what it is (similar to some of the collusion talk).

Major 'south' movement last Thursday night at a different casino. Guy is short-staking 1/3 PLO on his third BI when he hits 2 big hands and then gets the call to the main game with over $2K (including an orange chip).

I get moved to the main game a short time later and he's sitting on about $420. I look around the table for the orange chip ($1K) and can't see it. I want to ask another player but I'm sitting right next to this guy.

Seat opens up and he moves away from me. Player he got the orange chip from sits down next to me. He's a very loud aggressive player and ask about everyone's stack since it's a 'match the stack' table. I quietly ask him to find his orange chip and he explodes at the other Player .. "Where the **** is my orange chip? .... FLOOR!!"

Floor comes over, gets some BS excuse and the guy is told to leave for the day! GL

PS ... This room has been 'talked to' by the players asking that they make sure to escort the players from the must move to the main game to prevent this from happening. Maybe they will be more proactive about it now.

The massage girls must get soooooo fed up with him...all he wants to do it talk to them and hold their hands and tell them how much he’s missed them over the last week.

...but rarely spends a penny and gets a massage. Might have seen him get 1 or 2 in the last 5 years

From your discussions, most of you sound like 2/5+ players. How memorable are average 1/2 players, if at all, to you regs?

Don't play it much but I remember a few of the table captain old nits who speak 2,000 or so words an hr and don't vpip twice a session.

I think at that level if u don't do the above or wear "the uniform" or "rolleyes nh sir!" with a 12 day beard and a demeanor that says you've never said sir sincerely in your life or be an obnoxious drunk or show ppl your lollivepoker crusher graph on your phone, etc you should just blend in. Most people even some of the ones who think they are aware are paying attention to the point they really remember beyond that session to beyond obvious outliers and douchebags not whether or not you're vpip'ing 20 or 40 or 60% imo.

I played it for about 5 years...someone in particular you’re wondering about or just 1/2 players in general?

Most are just terrible and get pissed off when their $100 buy-in dwindles down to $25 and they “shove” JJ preflight then get called by A5o and the ace hits...”you called me with A5?!? I haven’t played a hand for 4 hours...you were SOOOO behind!!!!!”

When I was going a lot, I never went more than 2 out of every 3 weeks, and I recently came off an 18 month break. I don't have any reason to think I stick out as memorable (except maybe on the days I'm drinking because I won't ever shut up and I can be a bit annoying that way).

Yeah, I just mean in general. I was wondering if the 1/2 casual players just became a blur of indistinct faces.

People will probably remember your face but won't remember or care much about your playstyle. I remember pretty much all faces even the old lady who plays 3/6 lhe and video poker degens at 6th street. People that are there even semi regularly people who are there a lot will recognize at least the same way they recognize a janitor or security guard.

Poker players always remember their beats ... did you beat them with AA or 57s? That will be the difference. I just saw a guy yesterday at MCC that I hadn't played against in over two years and he vividly remembered the 57o I got him with on A68x4 to beat his Flopped set.

He only plays 4-7 times a year ... everyone's different but all it will take is one person to remember and they will spout off everything they know to show the crowd how smart they are! GL

He went through a phase where his motion to throw cards forward for a fold would result in the cards LITERALLY barely going past the bet-line. To make matters worse, he always sits in the 2/3/7/8 seats so the short dealers had to stand up to reach and get his crass

He used to do that before they brought in the bet line and then he would get offended when the dealer didn't know if he folded or not.
