Yes, tight 1-2 tables are standard, particularly early afternoon when you posted.

The Skyway is the safest route, but I usually take 100th to 103rd to the Bishop Ford. The SE Side is usually real quiet when I drive through around midnight.

Most games are pretty tight but you need to find the best one when there's lots of 1/2 tables open also definitely pay this guy wait till you don't want to break down in the middle of some of those neighborhoods with all that money on you and being the only white person around

I was outplayed the one time I followed a whole school of fish, though I'm bad at NLHE.

Please suggest a budget place to stay nearby.
Got a Friday early morning flight from ohare. Traveling from Cleveland, planning to reach Thursday night here and play 1-2nl. Thanks.

Would have preferred a casino hotel to save on travel time though.

It's been several years since I was there, but the Majestic Hotel is fine and cheap.

Does majestic have good poker room, or is it driving to horseshoe?
Friday Morning 6.30am, ohare should be a 30 minutes drive.

it will not be a 30 min drive unless you are a Nascar driver

I live in The Loop and it’s 25-30 min to get home from the Shoe with zero traffic

Plan on an atleasttt 50 minutes to get to ohare...add time for parking and transit to terminal from garage

Majestic Star is a much smaller, much older property, but the games are all locals and I found them to be friendly and enjoyable enough. If you want to play anything other than 1/2 NLH, then you're heading to the Horseshoe.

Would there be any interest in a 5-10 horse game? I have no clue how to play all those games but I think it would be super fun to get a low roller game off the ground from time to time.

No. Many have tried, few have succeeded.

Depends who's at the table if its night time no way to much collusion with the young kids texting each other what they have then seeing them chop it up when they leave by the slot machines no chance I play in that game

I’ve played in that game many times and I haven’t experienced anything you describe.

Yeah, but that's exactly what a colluding young kid who likes to text and chop by the slot machines would say

Would love to play some lower stakes mixed games at the Shoe when I'm in Chicago this summer. Not sure that HORSE is the ideal mix. The newer-age mixes tend to be more fun, albeit you have to be careful not to make them too uninviting. I nice balance to get people started might be BOTE (badugi, O8, 2-7TD, stud8). Also 5/10 might be a bit too low stakes to get people's whistles wet. Maybe 8/16 would be ideal, but I'd play whatever!

I'm fairly certain that this does NOT happen in this game.

So you happen to think that the same two or three groups that drive together to the same game play in the same game don’t get involved in hands together and are texting each other don’t have some sort of deal going on between them lets be realistic.......

I've only played in this game a few times but I certainly was very quick to figure out the dynamic between some of the players. I don't mean to imply that they 'work' together. This is no different than any other game that has a small reg-filled player pool.

I'm frequently at a table where there is a horse and his backer .. and I can definitely say that they go after each other plenty, if not more so, than other players. It would be pretty sad if that was all an act.

I've texted a time or two at the table, certainly not during a hand, and seen players go smoke together frequently. If these guys do travel together then it would be pretty stupid to divide things up in the slot area ... at least go to the bathroom or parking garage!!

I have heard a few times that some guys play from the same roll or the same banker Which is unreal. I don't tbubk i would play in the 5/10 here when there is noting in town and only one table.

I play in the 5/10 game 3 or 4 days a week and these accusations really piss me off. Anyone who has played in the game for more than 4 hours knows nothing like that is going on. Most of the accusations come from a certain ta ta talkative 2/5 reg who can no longer beat the game and doesn't get along with the 5/10 regs because they give him **** for always hit and running when he does play.
