I play at the Shoe 800 hours a year and this is NOT typical at 1/2 tables. There are always 1 or 2 dudes that buy for the min, but a 6-7 at a full table on a Friday? not the case. MAYBE rarely but, yea.

The rake at 5/10 is much better comparatively, especially if you consider any promo drop to be extra rake.

The game.... Well, it varies, a ton. The player pool is pretty small, so there's wild fluctuations in game quality.

there are just way too many short stackers there to weigh my winrate down like an anchor. half the time i feel like i cant even raise a marginal hand like q10 pre without being committed to call one of the micro stacks shoves. it can hardly even be called poker sometimes. im telling you i played 12 hrs last friday and i looked around my whole table and 6 other players were sitting on about 100 and the other 2 whom were seeper than 200 were competent players. 1 2 is where alllll the scared money and people deathly afraid of losing are. i want to be with the gamblers.

Skipped poker and played in high limit room. Couldn't believe it. A short staffed, one person cashier in the "high limit" table games area, just like in the poker room...LONG EFFIN line!! Management sucks.

This just is not indicative of the typical 1/2 game at the shoe. When are you playing? Why don't you just table change, because I guarantee every table in the room is not like this. I have consistently played on tables where there is at least 2-3k on the table. And sometimes 4-5k. This is on Friday and Saturday night.

Do any O/8 games ever get going here?

In a word sometimes.

It doesn't go regularly and it goes at different stakes. I've seen 1/2 & 5/10 O8 games, when they do run it's almost always on a Fri/Sat or occasionally Wed. I would say it's around once a month the game gets off and even that might be a bit optimistic. If you ask the floor to announce the list that might help.

We have been experimenting with 75/150 and 100/200 OE over the last month. I guess I will just post when we are planning on trying to get a bigger mixed game running.

+1 to this. Of coarse you are going to have 'those' types of night where the tableau are full of shorties, but this is rare. Just table change and find the gamblers you're looking for...I'm prolly one of them!

+1 to table change in that scenario...said it a few pages back, too. There is NO reason to stay at a nitty 1/2 game in this room when there are 5+ other tables.

I'd really like to try the HORSE games at the SHOE, but they seem to be on the bigger side I'd be comfortable playing.

How tough is the 40/80 HORSE and what do players normally buy-in for?

Do they ever get a 6/12 HORSE going. I check on the Bravo app. and normally I never see anything lower than 40/80 HORSE.

Also, I used to play in the 5/10 LO8 Full Kill at Majestic Star. I've noticed it has been breaking down early. Has the SHOE been running LO8 lately?

Thanks for any replies,
Spike

I would love to play 6/12 HORSE. Best advice I could give is post in the thread when you'll be starting a list and just start an interest list in the poker room.

As far as the 5/10 LO8 from Majestic game goes, I've been hearing rumors for months about the game moving to the shoe and have yet to see anything. I would be game for that too, but who knows.

I've played 4/8 HORSE during the series and haven't seen it since. Great game actually. I wish it ran more. I too am interested in a mixed game at the 3/6, 4/8 or 5/10 level. Shoot me a pm if you plan on getting one going.

Also, gl getting an acurate assessment of the true skill level of the 40/80 HORSE.

If I understand post correctly, bad beat "hit" requirements will become less severe and "payout" will (probably) be less.

Bad beat will hit more frequently thus increasing chances of "regular" patrons to benefit from a "hit", as long as "table share" remains in tact. Took too long to make that change. I guess those increasing empty tables during weekdays are causing management to re-think some things.

I know one thing for sure, its never going to approach those $300k type numbers again.

They actually got this game going last night 4/14. It was a lot of fun. I was the biggest fish at the table being the first time I've ever played in a live HORSE game.

Everyone at the table was friendly and just looking to gamble. It was a painless introduction.

Finished the game down $60. Room for improvment. Hope the game goes off more often. I'd play again.

Funny side note: The game was being held upstairs in the high limit section right next to the 40/80 HORSE game. What a big game. I had no idea how under rolled I am for that.

Were you seat 4? I was playing in seat 2. Agree, a lot of fun. Pretty green with HORSE myself, but from what I could tell there were only 2 or maybe 3 really good players (2 people from the CPC 7-game mix final table).

I felt like a bit of a donkey when I raised the river with the wheel in O8 just to quarter myself. Especially when seat 1 obviously had at least the wheel, likely the nut straight.

Yeah that was me. I was the guy who misread my non-existing low hand in Stud8. Still can't believe I did that. We all make mistakes.

I'll probably be up there next Sat for another shot at it. Hope it goes.

Have they fixed the horrible 6/12 structure? Last we played the ante/blind structures were total nonsense.

Has PLO been increasing in popularity / running more frequently?

The structure was $6 BB and $4 SB for HE and O8

For the stud games, $2 ante & $2 bring in.

I'm a newbie at HORSE so I'm not sure about the structure, but it seems to me that the stud game ante is high. I think $1 should be enough. $2 bring is reasonable.

From the Bravo Poker Live app seems like PLO game run everyday. They get more tables of 1/2 PLO on the weekends. I've noticed 5/10 PLO seems to go on the weekend as well.

Damn sorry I missed the game on Saturday. I heard it was a lot of fun.

Yea those are the antes for the stud games that we complained about last time. It's just horrible. The problem is that $1 is a little on the low side (it's usually 20-25% of the small bet). So of course the casino wants to max pot size and max rake.

Still good it got going though. I'll have to make it out next time.

1-2 PLO runs everyday with an occasional must move game on the weekdays. Weekends usually get a must move game going fairly early in the night. Check the bravopokerlive app for when games are running.

We ended up adding 1-2plo to the horse rotation later at night when it got shorthanded. Game ended up breaking around 4am.
