Hi guys,

I'm strictly an internet player - I've never played live poker before.

I want to play in one of the horseshoe tourneys but I'm concerned I don't know about proper etiquette - I've heard that some poker rooms give classes to teach people the proper way to play poker live - does the horseshoe offer this?

I'm worried about issues like string betting, raising properly, etc.

just say what you are going to do before you do it, unless you are going to fold, just toss your cards in then.

ez game.

It seems like everyone I talk to about the 5/10 NL game says they hear of a lot of collusion at the game, I have never played in it. But at least 4 or 5 different people now have told me the regulars signal each other. Anyone have any comment on that?

Quick question. Can you wear headphones and or use a cell phone at the table in this casino?

Headphones, yes. For phones, you need to be out of your seat and not in a hand. Theoretically, you could void a BBJ by violating the phone rule.

Hi. I currently play Foxwoods 5/10 NL (2000 max) professionally on weekdays and it has been very good to me. I may need to relocate to the Chicago area soon. What can I expect in terms of weekday high-stakes NL action? I'm concerned that there may be less money to be made out there.

Read through some of the posts, and it appears that this place is pretty dece for action. I typically played at Hollywood Casino in Aurora (yes, total dump, i know) as it was pretty close to my residence. Looking to make a night outta goin to Horseshoe tonight though and wondering how the 10/20 LHE stacks up. Read a post saying the game is nittier than H, E, double hockey sticks. Others said the game is looser than Kim Kardashian after Reggie Bush got done with her. Other than that, I'm pretty sure I'd stick to 1/2 NL and maybe 2/5 NL if i'm feeling saucy.

Thoughts/comments?

Gratsi!!!

The dozen times i have played the 10-20 limit at Horseshoe Hammond it has always been pretty loose, even better when a 20-40 guy is playing waiting for a seat....

Virtually never happens. A tourist may do it, but none of the regular 20/40 players play in the 10/20 Holdem game.

I play the 5-10 regularly, and there's action. On Wed/Fri/Sat, there are multiple tables. Any other day, one, maybe two starts about noon, so get there early.

IMO, it's one of the best games in the country. See you there.

Hey guys-
Played here for the first time last night, mainly an online player, but looking to make a transition to about 60% live. I just seem to play a lot better live, mainly more focussed imo. Just a 200NL player, but whats the volatility during the week and best times to play. Are Mondays dead, etc? Im mainly concerned about weekdays? Looking to play live about 3-4 times per week, looking to see whats the 2 best weekday days to play? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The dealers at the Shoe get that way, especially on a busy night. Coupled with having to work on Thanksgiving -- probably not the best night to expect a friendly conversation.

This statement clearly doesn’t reflect what a player will experience playing at the Shoe. I play at about twenty different poker rooms every year. I find the Horseshoe dealers to be among the very best in the industry. Dealers are friendly and very professional keeping the game running smooth. You will find the vast majority of regular players appreciate their hard work.

The dealers at the Horseshoe are outstanding. Perhaps you were at a bad table on a bad night. I play about 15 hours a week and haven't experienced a dealer with a bad attitude.

actually there is ONE dealer with a bad attitude, but the other 30+ are always great, even when they are obviously in a bad mood.
