I’ll never understand why people are so concern over where the money is coming from. The Horseshoe is giving its players an extraordinary sum of money the first two weeks of October. Some Illinois Casinos are now raking $8 out of the pot. Yet not much has been posted about the casinos giving nothing back to the players. The Horseshoe gives away $5200 every six hours. And everybody wants to know where the money is coming from.

I agree Joe, and nice playing you Friday night at the Majestic! I was in seat 1.

How many tier points do you get for playing poker? Do you get a different amount of points for different limits? Are there any bonus days? I would like to attempt to make diamond status, but don't think I have enough points to do so. Does anyone know if diamond in a day promo is possible at the shoe?

How are the tourney fields these days? Specifically, the weekly $500 and $200 tourneys on Saturday and Sunday. How many people typically register? Are the prize pools decent?

Thanks

So I'm visiting Chicago for a conference in a couple weeks. Excited to check out this place to play some 1/2 NL...

Good news: a free shuttle runs to and from the Horseshoe from my hotel.

Bad news: the last shuttle departure from the Horseshoe is around 11...

Anyone have a rough idea what a cab might cost me to go from the Horseshoe back to downtown Chicago?

A cab ride back from the Horseshoe to downtown is about $35. More than once I've felt out a table and met someone who lives on the northside who will drop you off there - offer $15 for gas or something. Half of that room is Chicagoans.

You can always negotiate a cab "I have $30 will you drop me off at the Hyatt?"

Anyone know rush hour times or easiest/fastest way to get there from WI/IL border? I have a tough time getting there on weekdays... it once took me 3.5 hrs with traffic. Last Saturday it took me 2 hours to drive from Zion-ish area down to the shoe, but only an hour to get back. What gives? Any other modes of transit... trains or what not?

I'd like to play there more but the drive sucks.

I know Wednesday is a good day for the 20/40 limit game there; does 10/20 ever go, on Wednesday or any other day? I'm driving up there today hoping to play 10/20 but the last time I was there it never went.

Last year, I was able to register the night before the first event. The flyer this year says registration begins at 9 AM on October 16. Remembering the lines to register before the first event last year and the fact that I have commitments downtown until 11 AM on the 16th, I was curious if anyone knows if there will be an opportunity to register in advance or online.

Thanks!

I was told last weekend registration starts for the first WSOP Circuit event on the morning of tournament. Last year you could register a few days in advance. So if 1100+ show up Friday morning it’s going to be a mad house. Having the morning only registration and with the poor economy. I feel the tournament numbers will be down from last year. So with the good blind structure arriving late may not be a bad option.

Thanks, Joe.

Your information is consistent with the flier that I received. I was just hoping to avoid the "madhouse".

It will be interesting to see if attendance is down this year with the economy. If I recall correctly, the low buy in event at the WSOP this summer was a sell out. That being said, the $345 tournament on the 16th could approach last year's numbers (while the ME for the WSOP-C might see a decline in runners.)

Will the tournament be held in the poker room or is it held in the Venue.

I'm really excited that they're doing a H.O.R.S.E. event this year. I don't remember them doing one last year.

I heard they got rid of the player boxes. Is that true? If so, do they do line of credit or anything? Carrying around cash in that area, especially to and from one of the shady hotels does not sound too appealing.

I was there on Saturday and the $500 was going on. I might have read it wrong but I think they only got 3 tables. First was like 6100 and only 3 spots paid. Not 100% sure about this but that's what I could determine from the tournament screen. I played a $100 once and it got like 130 people I think.

Anyone think there would be interest in starting a half NL, half PLO game? maybe 1/2 or 2/5?

First off would they even start an interest list for this if asked? Would there be any interest in finding a regular group of 2p2ers to help start this game?

gutpunch....nice idea, trying to get a "intro" lower stakes mixed game going. Only question is granted while i am at the poker room its to have fun and challenge myself, but when there is quite a bit of "loose/bigballer" money on the regular 2/5 game, why am I going to play a game where the fact that I know most of the people are 2+2 regs and have an idea of how to play. Just doesn't sound..sorry for the word...+EV to get into that game, when we have the other games to make 1-3 BI's in a couple of hours. That's just my 2 cents.

The Shoe is starting a 30/60 limit holdem game on Mondays. The game should start around 2pm.
