That's what I figured after the fact. Makes total sense now. Questioning it made me look like an idiot which probably helped my table image though.

I've taken several trips there and eaten a few times in the little "food court" area. Based on my experience the answer is no.

I've always enjoyed the buffet. However, if you go eat during lunch because at dinner it goes from overpriced to really overpriced.

Unless you like paying $40 for a buffet (that is actually pretty good, but way overpriced), bring a lunch. On weekends the buffet does have unlimited crab leg buckets so if crab legs are your thing you can go nuts. The food court runs $9-15 for very low quality meals. The burgers are terrible. The best thing I had there was the wings (really quite good), but I think it was $12 or $13 for the meal.

Pack a dinner and eat in your car or buy a lot of chips at the gift chop.

Not going to make it down there this weekend

How's the rake at the 1-2 and 2-5 NLHE games? Do you pay time at 2-5? How are the weekends soft tables or nit city? I'm heading there next weekend for the first time.

The Horseshoe has a $5 max rake on both games plus $1 for the bad beat. You can call the poker room at 219-473-6065 to have your name put on the list one hour before arriving. The tables are generally soft but be challenging with some of the aggressive wackos.

This poker room sucks...

There are like 95, 1-2 NL tables woo hoo! you can make more scrubbing toilets at a high school, a handful of 2/5NL tables, and 1, 5-10 NL table

There are no LHE games going except if you want to play with the riff raff at 3-6.

This poker room needs to do something do promote more LHE games. The 20-40 game is a very nice game but it goes like what? 13 hours a week maybe?

There needs to be an 8/16 or 10-20 game going regularly.

I hate NL, but I understand why people like it, since you can go ALL IN BABY, and destack someone. But NL players trump limit players at this casino like 50-1, and you can make just as much and probably more in limit, with more action.

Thinking about going there soon, after coming back from Vegas. Last time I went, I was a little rusty playing live hold em, after playing so much online PLO. So I lost 2 buyins, which is std. After playing decent in Vegas, I wanna go back to the horseshoe for more. How are the 2-5 games? Can they be as soft as the 1-2 games on weekends?

Oh btw, how much are the rooms at the horseshoe? Im thinking about staying overnight, but if the rooms at the shoe are too expensive for one person, I think I might goto a nearby motel.

On weekends the Horseshoe usually has all 34 tables going. So the games in general are soft. But there are some very good players at all levels. The Horseshoe does not have a hotel. There is a Quality Inn, Ramada & Super 8 close by. Give the poker room a call to see if they have any special rates for their players.

There has always been a 6/12 going when I've been there, and if it's anything like the 3/6 it'll play higher due to all the strattlers/kill pots/idiots. Saw someone win a $200 pot at 3/6 with a pair of nines 5 way to the end.

Only about 36 tables in the room. Anyway, that "1/2 no-limit" room is a blessing to dealers, collecting their tokes. They don't have to deal but one game. Some of those dealers, do an entire shift, dealing nothing but 1/2 no-limit. Absurd situation in that room.

Say what you want. There is virtually no "limit' poker action in Horseshoe, Hammond.

I could even live with a 6/12 game... although an 8/16 or 10/20 would be ideal...

Just 3/6 tho it sucks... I'd rather play strip poker with a bunch dudes and fat chicks then play 3/6LHE or 1/2NL.

It's actually surprising that the poker room doesn't promote any limit games...maybe a reduced rake for 1 or 2 limit games for 10-20 and 20-40, so you can tempt more LHE players? Or however you guys promote stuff...

Is Chicago just so big that the NL money doesn't dry up...so the casino isn't worried about a drop-off in cash coming in there?

This feels like a dumb question, but hows the action for 2/5? Im planning on making a trip up there sometime within the next two weeks, on a weekend. I have played 1/2 many times, beaten the game many times. Is 2/5 that much tougher? I do not mind losing a full buyin, as long as I believe I made the right move.

Whats the preflop action like? 1/2 they make it easily anywhere from 12-15 pre, is it like 20-25 for 2/5?

This questions may sound kind of stupid, but would help me greatly

thanks

Also, Ive been afraid about going there alone. Is there any reason I should be? Ive been there once before with a friend. Feels like Id be okay, since we parked in the parking garage, but I dunno. Any previous incidents?
