There is zero chance Soto buys $20 chips. Doesn't even make sense, the game switches from 5/10 to 10/20 about as often as they just start 10/20. Also I don't think the game would play much bigger with $20 chips.

As for the question about $25 chips, well they do not play at 5/10 or 10/20. But when they ran 10/25 many years ago, the game did play a bigger than 10/20 just because it was easier to flick in 3 chips for 75 instead of 6 for 60. (Yes I realize I may have contradicted myself...maybe the game would play bigger if we had $20 chips...)

And for the question about why the 10/20 wasn't in the backroom, most 10/20 players prefer to play outside so a lot of the time they just start games outside until the tables fill. It is quiet, it is hard to get the floor, and sometimes players don't know the game is running.

So do no chips bigger than $10 play in the 5/10 or 10/20? That seems really bizarre. The 5/10 game I play in out east uses $5, $25, $100, and occasionally even $500 chips!

No it's just $25 chips specifically that don't play. Black $100s and bigger most definitely play, but for some reason, the greens don't. Can't tell you why.

$10/$25 NL is a high stakes game played in a small town. $10/$20 NL is an intro to high stakes games played in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Right now, The Horseshoe has its chance to look just like Las Vegas and LA. $20 chips are a must if they’d like to advance.

Looking to play Hammond for the first time in like 6 years, please tell me they changed it so you can call in to get on the list?

Last time went I had to wait 3 hours for a game because they didn't allow call ins, on top of a 2 hour drive. Never doing that again.

Couple questions:

What's the rake at 2/5 and 5/10? What's the max buyin on the 5/10? Does a 5/10 run every night or just on the weekends? Last, do Diamonds and 7* still jump the list here?

I'll be in town at the end of the month and might swing by.

TIA

1A) 2/5 is 5+2 from what I understand
1B) 5/10 is time raked, no BBJ ... BI=? uncapped in my normal room.

2) No call-ins

3) 5/10 runs when there are enough Players, but most likely Fri/Sat ... sometimes there are 2/5 tables that are more attractive than the 5/10 IMO.

4) Last time I was there list jumping was still a thing, but I believe it's harder to gain that status that previous years.

5) I've never waited two hours to sit in this room but I've heard about it. But I also will sit at Limit until I can move to a game more to my liking. If you roll in at 1100 on a Fri night and expect to get into the 5/10 without a feeder going, then yes, you may be in for quite a wait. GL

Check either their Bravo page or the hammond horseshoe Facebook page, both have info on the warmup series.

All PLO games allow call ins, though I wish they didn't.

Excellent. Thanks for the info. I'm thinking about heading up on a Wednesday so the 5/T might be the way to go. Especially with the time rake difference as well and the fact that you can buy in for more than 100bbs.

I call in for the 50/100 mix routinely. They will place you on the list for I think 1 hour and remove you if you don't check in on time. It used to be 2 hours allowed, but I believe they changed it at some point in the past couple years.

What games usually run in the 50/100 mix?

Played twice. It was one or both of badacey/badeucy. Typically one of A-5 or 2-7 triple draw (was 2-7 both times I played). Always stud and typically stud8 too. Sometimes razz or razzdugi but never both. Frequently badugi but not if both badacey and badeucy are in. FLO hi was in both times I played. I think FLO8 in one of the times. LHE is rare. PLO, PL Big O, and NL 2-7sd can be played with a $2000 cap but I think that's infrequent. Archie and super stud games aren't approved. You can see me ask a number of pages back and got an answer from a regular player.

Let’s take an average weekend night. When you walk in the poker room, what games are running in the private high stakes poker room? Is that room utilized?
Horseshoe Hammond (Hammond, IN) Quote

It's not really 'private' but it is more secluded from the rest of the room. Typically the 5/10 (and any 5/10 feeder) will be in that room. But also more typically the higher stake tables will be on the upper level to limit the amount of 'pedestrian' traffic.

I've never played, but I would assume that the mix game might lean towards 'the room' as well. IMO the mix game should run out where others can see it so it might attract more Players. GL

The 50/100 mixed is almost always the same 5-7 guys, with the game started at table 3 - not in the back room - first table on your right when you walk upstairs.

5/10 almost always starts on table 4, with the feeder going to table 5.

10/20 usually gets going on table 6 - straight ahead against the wall when you walk upstairs - once there are enough players (usually coming from the 5/10 game).

Are you sure? I’ve only played twice and both times was in back room. Also was told that’s where’s it always is. It is the highest stakes game in the room, seems fitting it should be in the high stakes room.

It is extremely clear that 10/20 NL is taking over the 5/10 NL World At The Horseshoe. I am seeing two 10/20 NL Running often many nights per week.
