I am not a dealer, but if you go there half way often you will see me there. On weekends (Friday, Saturday) I would say they get 8-12 tables going. The room does shut down occasionally, but on busy nights like Friday and Saturday it will run the whole night. I'm not quite sure there hiring poker dealers, most likely bj and pit games. I would say for the most part a game is usually running unless it is after 4 am and obviously it just fluctuates.

Question about the WSOPc event #6

http://www.wsop.com/tourney/tourneyd...sp?groupID=866

Is that really a 1 day tourney starting at 5pm?

Anyone know why this room doesn't try to increase the runners for the WSOP Circuit event tourneys? Many circuit stops give away seats to the WSOPC tourneys via their poker rooms or at least promote the WSOPC events in some capacity. I've never understood that about this stop. It's a nice poker venue, tourneys run well, onsite hotels, the surrounding Omaha area is decent and affordable, and the fields are easy, yet every year the turnout is horrible. If they ran some feeder tournaments/satellites into this thing the amount of locals/fish would increase, thereby attracting even more people to make this stop a part of their poker calendar. Does anyone know of any plans by Horseshoe Council Bluffs to do something about this in 2012? Just curious.

Tom, on their website I see they are running satellites nearly everyday in Feb.

If a local fish were to donk a satty they would most likely sell their seat to one of the decent regulars.

Also, they make more money spreading cash games than filling tables full of tourney players.

Heh, I thought this thread fell off the face of the Earth.

Anyway, they did some serious pushing for more satellites this year. Hopefully the numbers increase.

I'm playing in some silly media tourney tomorrow and I will try to get some info from WSOP reps.

And despite smaller tourney turn outs, the cash game action gets pretty crazy around WSOP circuit time.

530 seats will be the max for each WSOP ring event. The main poker room has 18 tables and the converted WSOP room will have 35.

I believe the nightly 7 p.m. $150's will have a max of 210. That was hear-say.

The first event is tonight. Who is shipping it? I can only do the nightly tonight. The structure is pretty poor but I want to go and catch the first-day action.

Exactly 350 people registered for Event #1 today. $105,000 prize pool? That's a step up from last year, I believe.

Registering for tournies here is quite an adventure. You have to swipe your card in at one place and then go to another place to actually buy-in. Registration also appears to close before the tournies even start, so buy in early. It can be somewhat maddening to stand in a long line only to be told to go someplace else and get back in line, only to have registration close somewhere in that time frame. I sure hope their bigger events aren't as much of a logistical cluster****.

Do the poker rooms run all week or is it usual dead save Thur-Sun? If so, is it just usually the 1/3 game or do other games run consistently?

Lowering the rake is one of many changes we are looking into. We are also going to have better promotions. We are looking into giving away a 2013 WSOP Main Event seat, paying out more High Hands and bringing back the bad beat. Our goal is to make the room more enjoyable to play in.

This is great to see the Horseshoe hired somebody excited about making the room better, Welcome Andy, I mainly play tourneys and think it would be nice if you guys added a friday and saturday $125 tourney, if you made it $125 with 8k or 10k chips and 30 minute blinds, I'm sure this would get 100+ runners in both tourneys and you could make it a 10k gaurantee if you wanted, also maybe a tournament leaderboard would be nice, I played 20+ tourneys a month last summer and did'nt get any reward points or comps since they don't really reward tournament players, maybe have a tourney leaderboard to reward the main event seat,
Thanks for looking out for the players, Good Luck
Scott

Please please please get rid of those ugly yellow chips once you do (and lower the rake) I promise I'll be a regular there again. Adding that extra 50 cent rake was such a terrible decision. Unfortunately that decision was a great decision compared to the decision get rid of the bb jackpot

Any discussion about the upcoming Horseshoe Poker Classic that will run at the end of the August? I find it interesting that the open day satellite results in buy-ins to three of the no-limit tournaments. Any expectation for number of runners for the events including the O 8 tournament?

I'm thinking about coming there for the classic at the end of the month. Can anybody give any idea on number of runners in past years. I'm mainly interested in the $340 and $235 tourneys. Thanks

I was planning on taking a trip out there to play for a few days until I read how high the rake is. Has that been changed yet?

In addition to rake gripes, I'd like to ask about old patrons that were banned under old management for ****ty reasons. Is anything being done as far as reviewing their cases and getting them back in the room?

Also, are button straddles going to be capped, or unlimited like normal straddles are now?

Players that are 86'ed are taken on a case by case basis. If a player wants to be allowed back in, the GM will review each situation.

The button straddles are still uncapped.
