Hi, I'm wondering on how the live tournaments are at the Horsheshoe in Council Bluffs, I found a few archived threads but they don't have much information. Since we cant play online anymore I'm looking to transfer over to live play.

What are the structures like for some of the tourneys and how are the players? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi am also looking to play more in live games at the Horseshoe casino. I was also interested in how they usually turn out and what the play is like. Not much luck in finding any information though...

The tournaments have 20 minute levels. There should be more info on either their site or Facebook page. I think Mon and Wed are 60$ buyins that start at 10 AM. Tues and Thursday are 70 ish on the buyins and start at 7 pm. Sat tourney I think is at 10 am, can't remember buyin. Sun is two tournaments 10 am and 2pm. They should have a phone # on the Facebook page to the poker room. But I can try to answer any other ?'s.

Last time I was there the 1-3 NL was a max $200 buy in. It would be cool if they upped it to $300. Other than that yeah these are the typical games. I don't know anything about the tourney's, never played them. Most of my play has been during the day and there are only 3-4 tables going. So not much game selection. I've tried to get a PLO game going every time I've been there and no luck.

Yes, it changed to a 300$ max buyin approximately 6 months ago.

Nice. It's about time. Not sure why you would not be allowed to buy in for 100 BB in any poker game. I've heard of games like 2-5 with $200 cap buy in. That is just crazy to me.

Any PLO action going there yet?

Haven't played a ton of tournaments up there, but I know that they seem to play like turbos, i.e. - designed to be done in a few hours tops.
I wanna say for the Sunday tourneys you start with like 3k in chips with an optional 500 or 1000 chip add-on or something. Also, I think its like 100bb to start, but basically the short levels and big blind increases force you to accumulate pretty early if you want a chance.

The cash games (1-3nl) are normally pretty soft Thursday-Sunday nights when I have been up there, many random fish in and out, taking stacks from $100 to $700 back to $0. Also pretty reg filled at the same time though, but pretty easy to catch on to who the regulars are after a few sessions.

Also, be sure to leave your player card at poker room desk to receive like $1/hr for playing I think it is, maybe $.50, either way its pays for a meal per session or something.

No PLO yet. The only time PLO would have a chance of going is during the WSOP circuit. Yes the daily tourney's are fast. The last Saturday of every month is the fat stack tourney.235$ buyin, 6000 in chips, 40 minute levels. Lasts about 8 hours. The dailies last about 4 max. There is a 2-5-10 nlh game that runs on Tuesday and Thursday, and sometimes into the weekend. It is 300-1000 buyin.

Much better than Kansas City poker rooms. Pretty good place to play and the shutdown on internet seems to be running players in. Was still a good mix of games and tables still going at 2 a.m. I play 3-6 and really enjoyed the game. The 1-2 nl was running good with 2 2-5 nl and a 6-12 plo going on this weekend. If you play just watch for the old timers who know what each other plays and get the young guys in and try to run the pots up for there buddies. Play your hands and dont tilt you will be o.k.

Road tripping to Omaha tomorrow as another unemployed online grinder has job interview their on Thursday. I am going to ride along and play here Wed night, how late will the games run?

I would think the 1/3NL would run most of the night. You have the special 2/5/10 NL game tonight too, but I'm not sure what you can buy-in with.

I really enjoy this place, games are good, competent floor, fast dealers, decent food and they recently built on a hotel.

Only draw back is the 6.50 rake 5.50+1 for 1-3 players...5.50 for 2/5. Seeing a fill done every 30 minutes makes me nauseous.

Here's a link to the poker room in CB.

http://www.horseshoecouncilbluffs.co...er-detail.html

Has info about their tourneys (which I never play). Other than the fat stack on the last Saturday of every month, they run very fast, basically a super turbo.

Cash games are usually good (prime time especially), but the comps & rake suck. They take 10% up to $5.50 + $1 for bbj at the $1-$3 NLHE & LHE games. They pay $0.50 in comp.

Only other game usually running besides hold 'em is an O8 game & I don't think you're allowed to play in that if you're under 65 years old.

It is a nice room with good dealers & floor. Worth checking out if you've never been.

God that rake is gross, thanks for the info, I called today inquired for poker room rate at the attached or connected hotel for tomorrow night if I play 6-8 hours of 2/5 and got nowhere, not the most helpful phone call I have made to a poker room.

Yeah, no poker rate 'cause the hotel is independent. Just super convienent, I personally hate staying elsewhere from where I am playing.

Since they're the only game in town (unless you actually count the pokertek tables at ameristar) they can get away with high rake & crappy comps.

I believe the Ameristar electronic tables were removed from what I heard?

And I agree, $6.50 rake is pretty gross.

Friday and Saturday run 6/12 O8, but it takes forever for a seat to open up. On Sunday, there is usually a good chance of 4/8 O8 running. It's a pretty soft/fun game to play. The Thursday $70 tournament is a $20 bounty tournament and I believe the Tuesday tourney is a $70 rebuy.

Bounty on thursday evening is fun but a total crapshoot. Third level I was down to 1/2 starting stack, limped pot, Kx in BB. Brick flop check around, even donk that typically bets checks into the field. K turn. Checks to Donk who makes 1/2 pot bet, fold, fold I c/r all in for about twice pot. He calls with Ace hi. You can guess the rest.

My friend and I were just talking on Sunday about trying to get a 1/3ish PLO game going on up there. Saturday or Sunday are probably the best shots.
