Bullcrap. The nit was wasting everyones time and holding up the game. He was called. He has to show his hand or muck. END OF STORY

it wasnt like he bluffed and wanted the other guy to show. He had showdown value

1) Muck, not Much

2) Yes, he has to show or muck. That isn't what you said, though, is it? You said to flip them up. That's wrong.

3) It's still not your job, mr table captain

Criticizing dealer means speaking to him. You could make a case that you were criticizing the dealer had you said to the dealer "Can you ask someone to show or muck please?" instead of saying to the players that they turn 'em up.

Played last night. Had dinner at Binions, then went up to the room around 9:30. Waited about 5 minutes to get seated. I asked, out of curiosity, whether diamonds got priority seating (wasn't looking to line jump since the list was small), and was told that is reserved only for Seven Stars.

Table had decent action. We got short handed at times, but they kept some players coming in. Casino itself is pretty cool. Played some VP and hit quads 4 times in an hour. Lots of bars and places to watch games. Overall, I was impressed.

TRIP REPORT

I have played 2/5 nl at the Horseshoe 3 times in the last week. Here's what I've noticed. Let’s start with the pros. First the room is gorgeous. Very large open area, plenty of space between tables, high ceilings, and great lighting which run a stark contrast to MD Live. The tables are top of the line have deckmate 2 shufflers and have individual USB charge ports which are very convenient. The poker room staff have been very friendly and approachable. The action has been pretty good. A good amount of recreational players. Phelps and his gf have sat in the game and a dealer mentioned they are planning on starting a 2/5nl deep 200-1500 bi game hosted by Phelps on Tuesdays that will have a $25 dollar Seven Deuce bounty.

Here are some things that I didn't like. As mentioned there are not enough TVs in the room. They need to take down some of the jumbo sized poker player pics that are wasting space. Some of the waitresses are terrible and I've heard this complaint from many of the players and dealers. One of them walked to my table with about 8 bottles of water. A young guy asks for room temp water and she says she doesn't have any room temp water she has to go to the back and get him some from the faucet. He says that's ok I'll just take 2 bottles from your tray. She gives him one and says she needs to drop the other bottles off in the back first. Then, an Asian guy at the table asks for a bottle of water and she says she'll come back after she drops off the waters on her tray. WTF? She does come back a couple min later with 4 bottles on her tray to give the guys their water, but I didn't understand why she needed to go to the back and drop off 3 bottles first. Food ordering is very inefficient. If you place an order, a waitress has to go downstairs and place the order and stand in line with all the other customers so your food is going to take a while. They need to be able to phone in orders and have runners delivering food to the poker room like at MD Live or at least have separate expedited line for wait staff to order.

The dealers for the most part are pretty good and fast, but some of them have made some amateur mistakes. They have overraked a couple times. It's 5% up to $6+$1 so I mentioned it once when dealer took 5 instead of 3 and the floor came over and returned the difference. It's hard to get used to raking 5% so no big deal. In one hand, btn straddles to 25. folds to co who puts in a $5 chip. Dealer says it's $25 straddle. He goes “O I didn't know” and pulls his $5 back and raises to $50. Btn instaraises to $125. I said to the dealer I don’t think the co is allowed to raise after he just put in one $5 chip. She looks confused and some other terrible dealer from Live says he is allowed to raise bc he didn’t know it was straddled. The rest of the table backs me up and says when he puts in one chip it’s just a call. CO ends up folding and pulls his $50 back and leaves $5. Dealer doesn’t say a word so I said he needs to leave his $25 initial call out. Dealer is still confused.

Another hand it’s HU and co checks. Btn goes all in co plays with his chips and btn thinks he called so he turns his hand face up over the line before co acts. After everyone sees his hand, dealer slams her hand over his cards to cover them up. Btn is freaking out and says “What are you doing?” bc he thinks dealer is mucking his hand. I told the dealer I don’t think you are ever supposed to touch a players cards once they are dealt unless you are mucking them. Co folds after seeing he is beat. Btn acknowledges that he made a mistake and even agrees with me about what I said to the dealer. Dealer says she’s been dealing for 9 years and knows what she’s doing. Talked to floor later and he said I was right and that dealer should not touch the players’ cards bc it can be interpreted as the dealer trying to muck his hand.

Some other things dealers have been having trouble with is dealing players in the next hand when they go All In and lose and are left with $1-$4 because white chips only play in increments of $5. They’ve also allowed an add on of less than the min buy in bc dealer thought since he has a dollar he is allowed to add on whatever which is not true if you go all in and lose and are left with less than a big blind. I just think they should allow whites to be in play if you’re all in to avoid confusion with this rule and sometimes people run off when they lose and they have $1-$4 left and dealer just leaves change in the seat and don’t know what to do with it so it just slows the game down and makes it confusing for the dealers.

One egregious mistake the floor made yesterday was starting a third 2/5 game and filling all 9 seats when the main game was 5 handed and had 4 open seats. I told this to the floor when 2 players were being sat at new game and had not played a hand yet. Floor says they will send the next 2/5 players to our game. I said that is not right and they should be sent to our game to have balanced tables 7 and 7 and asked to speak to shift manager. Shift manager comes and says that they were called to the new 2/5 game from the list so they can go to the new game. Then I noticed 2 players from my game had gone to the new game and mentioned that to the shift manager. He talked to them and said that one person got permission from another floor person to move and the other person said he wasn’t playing at my table. I told him he was sitting in the 2 seat for over an hour and I had even won a pot off him and asked everyone at the table to confirm and they all said yes he was at our table. He said he would go check the bravo to see if he was at our table and that he would send him back if he was. Well he goes to check the bravo and never comes back and we remained 5 handed while the new game was full. I understand that they are trying to start more tables so they can make more money, but to leave the first table you started 5 handed and completely fill a new table is unacceptable. They have 4 floor guys running different parts of the room and it’s like they don’t communicate and all do their own thing and no one has a clue.

Sorry for the long report for the tldr crowd bottom line: Very nice room, but still a lot of kinks to work out. Poor wait staff, dealer issues, and lack of floor unity need to be addressed.

High Hand jackpot at MD Live is crushing this room.

I played Thursday night at both. All but maybe one or two of the tables at Live were full at 5pm except the 10 reserved tournament tables. At around 8pm I left Live and went to the Shoe and only 6-7 tables were playing and none were full.

MDL high hand nonsense is unsustainable. That's when shoe should release the kraken.

If by release the kraken, you mean lower the rake to be competitive, it just might work.

Does anyone know what time the Horseshoe will stop charging for parking tomorrow? I'm probably heading down tomorrow night after 8pm. I don't expect that they'd still charge me $60 since the Raven's game will have ended about 4 hours earlier, but just wanted to be sure. Of course, if they try to charge me, I can just drive another 10 mins to MDL.

If uplaypoker for 4 hours you get a voucher for free parking on game days

Horseshoe is a great poker room but the dealers and waitresses are horrible. Both should get better. I love the 800 dollar buy in for 2-5. 500 is too short of a buy in IMO

Can anyone who played during last week's Navy/OSU game verify that this is how it works?

Just grabbed a burger at the place in the food court. Shake machine was down so I forgot to get a drink. Asked for a glass of water and was told no they don't do that, so I asked to buy a drink and was told I had to wait in (the 20 person deep) line (again).

The place is pretty but it's also definitely a Caesars property.

I am venturing no. My parking pass says parking is good until 8 hours after the event ends which leads me to believe they'll try charging up until that point?

5% up to 6 does not compare all that favorably to 10% up to 5. Especially in the juiciest games east of the Mississippi.

2-5 is actually 5% up to $6. Not that bad, however they are lucky to have one game of that going. 1-3 is 10% up to 6.
