There was a line of well over a thousand people that waited well over an hour for the grand opening without incident.

Despite plenty of people walking up to the place from the stadium area after dark, and a large 3800 spot parking garage to monitor there have been no incidents reported in the surrounding area.

But two patrons get in a dispute, within the property, and that aligns with your pre-conceived characterization of this area (sandwiched between industry, the stadiums, and Federal Hill/Sharp-Leadenhall) as a ghetto.

You are clearly dismissive of the property and the city and I doubt you will ever set foot in the place and see for yourself.

Please do us all a favor and stay out of this thread as well.

This afternoon about half the room being used, 11 tables with a 20 person wait list. A couple of 3-6 running. Any Bad beats hit yet? Hasn't been updated since Saturday.

Is this the same ghetto that houses the ballpark & stadium?

Due to the way the the counters are designed it'd be pretty uncomfortable for them to do that, especially if they're shorter.

They need to figure out a way to count chips in plain sight.

They can put it on the bottom counter, just make sure to pull it back towards their body so it's visible to the guest.

re: Horseshoe Baltimore (Baltimore, MD) -- FAQ in OP, added 2014.09.09

Quick tr: got there late around 10 pm last night, Sunday before Labor Day. Easy to get in off of 295 from doc and easy to park, though there looked like a long line of folks trying to get out.

The casino itself is very nice. Very bright and nice fixtures, reminding me of some of the Venetian for some reason when I walked in. The layout is pretty simple and clear, with signs to various attractions including the poker room prominently displayed.

I was seated immediately with now wait. I bought my chips at the cashier window as there was no line. There is still some learning there but adequate service was had.

I asked for a reprint of my TotalRewards card and left my id at the front. It took three hours, but they eventually brought it to me after I asked for it twice.

Game was on par with out games at Live it felt like, though the 1-3 made pots and preflop raises much bigger, with a standard re raise being no less than $11 or $18.

Lots of regs with just a few rec players. I wouldn't call it the most loose or juicy game, but there was some bad play (including by yours truly).

Two annoying rules noted: no black chips allowed on the table in 1-3; flipping over cards when heads up is apparently discouraged according to a floor who said it was okay once or twice but would result in the player being asked to leave. I thought this was not only okayed on the faqs, but just simply part of the game???

Other than that had an okay time. I'm more of a rec player and wish people were more friendly, particularly on a holiday weekend trip. I ended doubling up+ after a lucky gutshot straight draw with a few people all-in and a few other lucky flops. I also did well with a slow played flopped nut flush.

It's hard for me to say that I'll be making horseshoe a regular card room for myself, as live is closer and seems pretty good if not better in level of play, firing lines of dealers, others, etc. but certainly if I'm for an Os or Ravens game, I would consider stopping by.

So, to be continued?

TR: room is very nice. Played 2/5 NL and action was average. It went on a small heather so that was nice . Just need the room to get fuller. I don't think having it hidden in a corner on the 2nd floor is doing it any favors.

Personally I don't like the Mississippi straddle and it often caused confusion.

Do you like action? If so, you should love the Mississippi straddle. My main casino for the past year didn't have one, and I sorely missed it

Be nice if casino would tweet out when the craps limits are 10-15; hopefully $10;$25 and 50 $ tables are just stealing from people, reprehensible really. But if they I
Open a $10 table- which Borgata a always has, be nice to see tweet so we can head up. Md Live has no interest in reasonable table game limits, so this is an area if need that Horseshoe can fill. Like the $2 e game- Live bumped there's up to where it is joke like rest of their craps limits.

I just got back, and there were 2-$50 and maybe 4/5 $25. All full, however most people just playing the pass line or nothing at all until it was their turn to shoot. I think they should implement a "no action on the previous shooter" you don't shoot rule, like I have seen in other casinos. It's pretty annoying that people just stand around the table and don't bet until it's their turn to shoot, especially when it's crowded.

I think the casino itself is very nice. I got charged 3 different prices for the same drink, (same girl charged me 2 different prices) so the waitresses may be hustling. (Cheaper from the bar). Felt pretty safe for the most part, lots of security present. Maybe during weekdays they will drop to $10-15 tables when the novelty wares off.

5x Odds. the machine is brand new but it sucks. They have no camera showing the dice on any tv's or individual machines so unless you have 1 of the 6 seats right by the dice you can't even see them. they need to get a IT tech out there and fix it!

There are sturdy bike racks (the upside down U shape set deep in concrete) in front of the parking garage). No problem, from what I saw.

I have biked to Horseshoe and back home on 5 different days/nights so far without any issue. As already stated, bike racks are in front and little to the right of the main entrance on 1st floor, in clear view. I don't expect to ever have any issues.

re: Horseshoe Baltimore (Baltimore, MD) -- FAQ in OP, added 2014.09.09

I went on Monday, and in my mind I was sort of comparing it to Md. Live, since they are about the same distance away.

Pros: 1-3 seemed to make the pots a little bigger

My table seemed not to use the Miss. Straddle, but a couple of folks straddled UTG!!

Plenty of space between tables, and they have actually lit the tables so you can see

Every seat has a phone charger, which is nice.

Garage is very open and well lit.

A couple of REALLY bad Md. Live dealers were playing

Cons: Waitress service is just as bad as Live! I was there at 9:30AM with three tables going and the one waitress was basically ducking people looking for her. The waitresses we had in the late morning had horrible attitudes and argued with patrons. The shift that came in at 4 seemed to have their stuff together.

Food service: Awful. Four people ordered food at my table, best time was 30 minutes, 2 of the 4 had to ask floor to look into it, and one of the waitresses claimed that a guy underpaid her (the sandwich was 11.99, he gave her $13, and she came back later arguing that it was $14.50 or so). I ordered a sandwich from the deli and was severely unimpressed.

Bathrooms: I can't believe no one has mentioned them. There were no paper towels most of the day, and there are only 4 urinals and 2 toliets. I cannot imagine what that will be like during tournament breaks. There are only 2 paper towel dispensers and they were both empty all day. (However, no bathroom attendant caging for tips either).

TV's: There are only 8 of them, and only 1 or 2 visible from most tables. I suspect there will be huge arguments come football season. There is space for another dozen or so, but those spaces have big pictures of WSOP winners of the past.

Rake: um, yeah. Since I play 1-3, that is an issue. The 2-5 is 5% rake to $6, which I would imagine is a pretty good deal for those players, and the max buy in $800

I liked it a lot more then I thought I would, and aside from the servers the staff was pretty decent. The space and light mean a lot to me, so I'll probably give it a go in a few weeks when they have some stuff straightened out.

Anthony -- I know a WSOP circuit event will come to the Horseshoe next spring, but are there any plans to offer satellites to any circuit main events or to the WSOP Main or other events? This would be awesome!

re: Horseshoe Baltimore (Baltimore, MD) -- FAQ in OP, added 2014.09.09

Trip Report. Played today (Tuesday) from about 10:50 A.M. to 1:50 P.M. Upon arrival, only one table was going but another was forming (both 1-3NL). Upon leaving, there were 5 1-3NL tables and 1 3-6 limit table, with about 6 people having expressed an interest for playing 2-5NL. I played 1-3NL, and my table was active but not crazy. With the Mississippi straddle, it played sort of between typical 1-2 NL and 2-5 NL tables at Maryland Live. The poker room itself is very nice and the lighting is wonderful! I drove up from Virginia, using the Baltimore-Washington Parkway (MD 295). You literally drive to the end of the Parkway and then keep going about 2 blocks on Russell Street, and you are right there (very easy to find). Parking was very ample. You walk into the casino going off the 3rd level of the parking garage (if you are not using valet parking) and thereupon walk into the 2nd floor of the 2-floor casino. The poker room is on the 2nd floor. All in all, very nice, but Maryland Live has a wider selection of games during the time of day that I played.

Good trip reports recently. Thanks for those!

For the people asking about the thread where the player's $100 disappeared, I had to do some cleanup for privacy purposes. Please keep related comments in that thread, which is here:

re: Horseshoe Baltimore (Baltimore, MD) -- FAQ in OP, added 2014.09.09

Quick notes for Anthony:
1. Nice poker room
2. Floor people are very efficient and with good customer service.
3. The gentleman chip runner is very efficient.
4. Some dealers are awfully slow. Perhaps those are new-hired with very little experience. Some dealers who came from other poker rooms, of course are very good.
5. Cashiers are somehow slow.
6. Waitress need more training. They need to announce their presence when going around tables.
7. Food service need to improve. There are more than 1 menus(?) with food availibility restricted to time of the day(?). Players are confused.

Conclusion: Bring out your TOP personnel when you start a new poker room. The competition is fierce out there.

In the hype thread, BmoreAnthony said, " if you feel after a session or two that our rake isn't justified, please inform myself or a manager and we'll discuss it from there."

Has anyone taken him up on this offer? If so, what was the reply.

Is Horseshoe Baltimore living up to his hype of being the "Nordstroms" of the area?

Do the games seem to be the juiciest and most fun on the east coast, perhaps even the entire country?

I will be in MD from mid-November thru New Years, visiting family for the holiday season. I did the same last year and was very pleased with MD Live(big improvement over Charles Town). I suspect that I may visit Horseshoe Baltimore to have a snack in the Diamond Lounge, before getting back on the highway and going to MD Live to play.

Perhaps on busy weekends, the prospect of priority seating versus an hour long wait will make the higher rake worthwhile and I may put in some play in the Horseshoe poker room.
