Any info in re: 2-2 PLO game? Utg raise amount? Does BB qualify? Softness of the game?

Went to Horseshoe Baltimore yesterday afternoon just to check it out. Was surprised to see them offering $15 BJ on their second day, but I was pretty impressed overall with the look and feel of the casino. There seems to be a much better selection of restaurants and bars when compared to MD Live. The cue at the total rewards counter was really long, so if you don't already have one be prepared to wait awhile. (Not that I think many on this forum don't but thought I'd throw it in there.)

But, on to the real business, the poker room. Room feels very comfortable. Good lighting. Comfortable seats. And ample space between tables. Cashier cage in the poker room and restrooms just outside. I will say that it sort of feels like the room is tucked away in the corner of the second level of the casino, so you kinda need to seek it out which might cut down on the number of complete novices.

For only being their second day, the room felt well run, and, for the most part, the dealers were quite capable of keeping the play moving, but there were clearly some brand new poker dealers who showed some jitters. Dealer jitters were only made worse by all the dealers from MD Live who were there playing and acting as as table captains and de facto supervisors. Things would have gone much smoother had they just let dealers do their jobs.

It was also clear that some of the cage staff was brand new. I went there to get $300 of checks for the 1-3 game and was given two stacks of red and a full tray of white. Sort of ridiculous. Guess, it's my fault for saying that I didn't care how I got it.

Not sure if Horseshoe will ever compete with the action at MD Live, but I don't think it yet fair to judge the two rooms against each other. Let's wait until they get their feet under them first.

Finally, when I went back to my car I noticed how well lit the parking garage felt. Didn't have any apprehension about walking through with the stack of cash I had won at the tables.

On the parking issue for special events is there a time period when that occurs. For example if you went to the casino like 4 or 5 hours before the game would it be the same as it was an hour before the game.

I got matched. Took an hour in line but it did happen.

One really bizarre thing is that horseshoe has no total rewards kiosks

All their kiosks are promotion kiosks. You can't check your points or tier credit

K, was thinking about checking it out tomorrow during the day. Was curious because I keep reading where its $50 for events and such. That is crazy! Wouldn't they think it will deter people from the casino?

No, it deters people who would park for free and just go to the game.

Website said 60 bucks for parking on game days.

If you pre pay ahead of time using Parking Panda, it's $50. If you pay as you enter it's $60

That's ridiculous unless you are going to the game with the intention of the casino afterward.

How many decks do they use for blackjack? H17 or S17?

Why? That's the typical price for parking in surface lots. And honestly, I'd rather park in the Horseshoe garage than any surface lot in the city for the same price

H17 isn't legal in Maryland, so I'm pretty safe saying it's S17. I'd also bet that it's eight decks in non-high limit.

I've never paid more then $20 with a small walk for a Ravens game. You are still walking the same distance if not further to park at the Shoe. Just saying.

I'm not saying it's a great idea for them to do this, but I don't see what choice they have. They have a 3,800 car garage in a prime spot next to a stadium that sells out each and every Ravens home game. The loss of customers during the game will be offset by the fact that a ton of people will want to head over after the game, IMO

Played yesterday for most of the day. Went there hoping not to like the place because of the extra rake and because it's in the city (I'm not a city guy, but it's easy on/off for me coming up 95 from the south), but have to say it might be worth it for me (YMMV). Bravo tells me it's only 1.5 miles farther to the shoe than to MDL for me.

The poker room (and the whole casino for that matter) was much better lit than MDL, the seats about as comfy and more room between tables. There were several dealers who were dealing for the very first time, but most did ok. The food selections are better and there are several more bars than MDL. Unfortunately the service was just as bad and maybe worse.... hopefully that will even out as time goes on

The idea of "progressive" bad beat bonuses is interesting. It should spread the jackpot money around more than the usual bad beat jackpot.

I may have to split my time. the shoe is definitely closer to some of my poker friends, but MDL is closer for others. Have to wait and see what happens down the road
