What could be worthwhile is if the room were to offer a short-term rake promotion to see whether and how a dollar difference really would affect the room. My guess is that if the rake were to go a dollar lower to match MDL, there wouldn't an increase in volume that would justify decreasing the drop permanently.
Combined with the much less stringent 'bad beat' jackpot, it might make a difference.
Last time I was there, only maybe 1/4 of the tables (about 7) were in use. Assuming the same number of hands per table, that's only $42/hand (6*7) or maybe $1,260~ an hour (30/hour average).
Drop the rake to $5.00 from $6.00 and they lose $150/hour - if they fill TWO more tables they're in profit (5*9*30) at $1,350 an hour.
They just don't be seeming to be interested in making any effort to actually fill the room.
