That's why I go to the $100 tables, I'm the only one there.......+1000 to $10 craps. I was really looking forward to craps here but even at the $25 level it's annoying to play there.

They have 10$ craps tables pretty much all the time when it's not a peak time. I think I remember seeing 5$ craps tables at like 4am on a tuesday for the real ballers.

Not to nit (ok I am) but last Tuesday no craps less than $15.

I think they know that. It's futile to keep bringing it up now.
Anthony didn't make that decision. I was made at the top after top level meetings. It won't change unless the top is convinced it will bring in more revenue. If $6.00 beats $5.00 it will remain $6. Basically exactly the way Hollywood evaluates C Town

We can still keep complaining about it.

I don't see Horseshoe lowering the rake. I do see MDL raising theirs. Nothing every goes down in price.

That's worthless.

What could be worthwhile is if the room were to offer a short-term rake promotion to see whether and how a dollar difference really would affect the room. My guess is that if the rake were to go a dollar lower to match MDL, there wouldn't an increase in volume that would justify decreasing the drop permanently.

Combined with the much less stringent 'bad beat' jackpot, it might make a difference.

Last time I was there, only maybe 1/4 of the tables (about 7) were in use. Assuming the same number of hands per table, that's only $42/hand (6*7) or maybe $1,260~ an hour (30/hour average).

Drop the rake to $5.00 from $6.00 and they lose $150/hour - if they fill TWO more tables they're in profit (5*9*30) at $1,350 an hour.

They just don't be seeming to be interested in making any effort to actually fill the room.

Perhaps I'm in the minority. I play for fun on the weekends. But, why do I care if the room is full. Yes, some game/table selection is nice. But from my perspective, the ability to roll into the Shoe at 8:00 on a Friday, have a nice dinner at Binions, and then stroll up the poker room at 10:00 and get seated with no wait is far more attractive than dealing with an 80 person waitlist at MDL. And yes, less rake would be nice; but I'm not willing to wait an hour to play for $1 less/hr.

In short, I'm pretty happy with the current state of affairs . . .

Sure, that's nice, but do you think the Shoe cares more about maximizing its profit or your personal satisfaction?

Put another way - if they had a waiting list 80 players deep do you think they'd care if you didn't get to play that day?

What does this have to do with anything I said? My point was simply that I'm happy with the current state of the room.

Man I'm right there with you. I am perfectly happy with how the Horseshoe operates. I love going there, and I'm perfectly fine with it not being packed and having a huge waiting list. Not that I think dropping the rake from $6 to $5 would make much of a difference, except to appease the eight people in this thread that won't stop bitching. Get over it guys, it's not happening.

The Shoe has a lower rake expressed as BB/hour. If you win 5 pots/hour you pay $30/hour at MDL (1/2 rake is 5+1) = 15BB/hour.

At the Shoe 5 pots/hour = $35 (1/3 rake is 6+1) = 11.66BB/hour.

If you maintain a consistent win rate of ~ 20 BB/hour, MDL rakes 75% of your hourly, and the Shoe rakes 58%.

You can't beat the rake at these stakes, but you can't legitimately complain about the higher vig: it may be larger in an absolute sense (+$1), but it's a smaller rake relative to the blind structure.

I'd like to see his work on 2/5 and 5/10, and see how high an acceptable rake is.

This.

I'd venture to say that if you polled 100 people coming out of a crowded room with good public traffic, say MDL for agrument's sake, that no more than 50% could even explain the rake structure of the room they just played in.

Assuming that the room would suddenly be crowded if the rake went down $1 - which means you think people are not playing there specifically to save $1 on the rake - is IMO quite incorrect.

FWIW I've been in one random Monday afternoon @ 2p and one Friday morning around 630a - no craps less than $15.

You guys might be right. The craps tables might have been 15 not 10. I don't play craps I just remember seeing tables that definitely started with a "1" in the min bet. So 10 or 15.

Amazing! You created a formula that proves a $6 dollar rake is smaller than a $5 rake.

So in your winning 5 pots an hour scenario, did you forget that it's the smaller of 10% or the $5 or $6 cap, and no-flop no-drop?
