Please keep in mind that you are talking about a company, Caesars, which shut down a profitable casino, Showboat in Atlantic City, because it wasn't making enough. Or something. Perfectly good, profitable, business - which was closed.

Everyone there lost their jobs. Very, very, sad. Why wouldn't the same corporation close a poker room if they don't think that it is making enough? I sure hope that the room stays open, but....

**June Promotions**

Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in June we are running high hand promotions from 2pm through midnight worth $1,000 every hour WITH ROLLOVERS!
The first twenty minutes is worth $500, second worth $300, and the last 20 minutes is worth $200!

If there is not a qualifying high hand of Aces full of deuces or better, the amount will be added to the next payout!

I might be off with my calculations/estimates, but how are they able to fund these promotions, as well as the added funds to the bad beat jackpot in May? It seems they collect nowhere near the levels necessary to fund the promos.

Theory would be that they are trying to spend their funds and then eventually close the room?

What's the parking deal at the Horseshoe around Oriole games?

There's a Yankees doubleheader on Monday, July 9 and the thought of catching two games for the price of one and playing some cards before the game is enticing to me. Not looking to park and catch the games, I actually want to play but of course then leave the car there during the two games which start at 4 PM. I envision playing at least 2-3 hours.

All this doable?

The only time they charge for parking is for Ravens games and events at M&T Bank stadium. You should be fine for Orioles games

That's a reasonable conclusion because it does seem to be a lot for that room to sustain, but if they were really trying to dump the money and close the room, wouldn't they be running it every day and almost around the clock like Revel did when they were closing their room? The fact that it runs only during the middle of the week seems to point towards a legitimate promotion to increase traffic on those days.

When Revel was running its promotion ($500 per hour? per half hour?), it was filling the room. I remember doing the math and thinking that if they just ran this promotion all along, it would have paid for itself and they would have been a successful poker room. Maybe they have good reason to believe that the increase in traffic will make this feasible.

What are your calculations/estimates? Mine sort of work out ...

Let's guess just 5 tables are running for 15 hours per day. The rake is still 6+1, right? if we say 30 hands per hour, that's 5*15*30 = $2,250 per day added to the BBJ, or $67,500 for a 30 day month.

The June promotions are $10,000 per day for 12 days - so $120K given away total. But May had only one promotion, which some $ were added to the bad beat jackpot to make it $50K. I think the BBJ was already at $38K when they added to it. Room traffic jumped and the BBJ wasn't hit for a few days, and I don't think the BBJ increased during that time - so possibly they spent $0 in promotions in May, which means they may have $60K or more left over from May.

Obviously, those numbers include some wild guesses, but the math is close enough for me to think they are still trying to keep the room open.

It’s 6+2.

I think my calculations would knock your monthly total of $67500 to 45-50k, as I would lower 30 hands an hour and I would also not assume full rake being taken all the time. I didnt know there were no other promotions in May. Maybe it's not as drastic as I thought, but I still think they're overspending promo dollars.

6+2 is also why I don't play there too.

My calculations were based on 6+1. Since it is 6+2, my numbers double, so $45K-$50K becomes $90K to $100K, which is very close to the $120K they are spending in June. You are right with lower than 30 hands, and not always full rake, but also there are sometimes more than 5 tables going. Whatever. The numbers are still in the ballpark.

Profitable is not enough. One dollar a year net will not keep you in biz given competing demands on capital

Nothing for Sat (after 1130am) or Sun. I can't remember the last time I saw much more than the 6-8 tables running unless the bad beat was getting low qualifier hands (on Tue-Fri). Have things picked up there or are these promos just wishful thinking?

After seeing your post, out of curiosity, I checked Bravo twice last night. At 6pm there were 9 tables going. At 9pm there were 11.

In June Horseshoe was giving away $1000 per hour on Tues-Thurs ($500,$300,$200 every 20 minutes), while the place down the street was giving away $500 per hour ($250 every 30 minutes on Tues/Wed). People like to chase the promos. How busy July will be will probably depend on how the promos compare against the competition.

Makes sense. That's good then! Maybe they'll see from June that the promos work when they're good. Maybe they can just focus on being the weekday/mid-week place to go and work to bring in those weekday city visitors.

Hard to compete on the weekends with promos and tourneys down the road x2.

Would the casino notice if you leave your car parked here for 48 hours or so? I'm a Platinum member who'd get free parking - was interested in dropping my car off for a couple days as the place I'm visiting in Baltimore has no convenient guest parking...

Oh? Nice!

This in information they should post on Bravo. A lot of people would take more interest if they knew, myself included.

I see it's on there now. Someone's watching this..
"All Texas Hold'Em cash games are comfortably spread nine handed!

Also, August promotions brings back high hands with tiers for number of tables running. ANY full house to qualify.

Visited last night for the first time in awhile. It's pretty much as I remember. Friday night drunks donating to the table and, at times, the overwhelming weed smell from a player who stepped away for a bit and came back.

+ Playing 9-handed just feels so nice. There was plenty of action and we weren't sandwiched together.

+ Any boat qualifier for high hands (and rollovers) was nice.

- Only two supervisors were having a hard time managing the room on a Friday night. Between new player signup, high hand call/pay outs, a tournament starting, and constant issues with shufflers around the room.. they were stretched very thin.

- Still no one working the room's cage. Could buy chips at the desk, but had to go out to the casino floor to cashout.

Is this place worth visiting while in Baltimore for a few days, or should I take the extra time to travel to Live! Casino ?

Just looking to play some 2/5 NL cash game for a bit.. any details on max buy in? Any other similar blinds usually running there? (3/5, 5/5?)

Any tips or pointers would be appreciated
