I believe the casino is sitting on the land where they are going to build the stadium complex.

That's confirmed incorrect. Stadium is being built next to HP so the place will be popping on gameday.

Actually played 1/2 NL last night there and it was like baseball on the little diamond at 12 yrs old, so soft, softest thing I've ever encountered and the buyin isn't terrible although not what I prefer you can bring 50bb's

I spend some time in LA and am really interested in what the Hollywood Park Group is planning in regards to the Casino with this 3 billion dollar project going in right next door. I don't see the new project allowing this place to stick out as the current eye sore that it is. I am guessing there will be some serious renovation at the very least which last I heard they had already started to some degree. If done right I could see this being the best place to play poker in Los Angeles/the world. If anyone could provide any kind of updates from anything to what you have heard from management to some potential options you've heard would be great to hear about.

I play there fairly often and have been told by floor people they are going to be building a new building. There is currently various construction going on. How reliable or realistic this is, is beyond me as the floor at HP is one IQ notch above Steve Avery...

Media reports have said they'll be upgrading the casino.

And I wouldn't go near the place on gameday.

Might be the nicest place to play poker in Los Angeles in 3 years from now. If they get a decent floor for the poker room they should be good.

What do they call 5/10 NL here and how often does it run?

Is there any way to check what games are running here online or otherwise w/o having to make a phone call?

This is what I'd like to know also.

For no limit I know there are plenty of 1/2 up to 5/5 ALWAYS running. 5/10 every once in a while. Other games I'm not sure.

I am flying into LAX this Thursday morning at 6 AM and have a six hour layover so I was thinking of getting an Uber to Hollywood Park to play for a few hours.

Anyone know if/which games typically would be running at 7 AM-noon on a Thursday morning? I typically play NL up to $2/$5 and PLO $1/$2-$2/$3.

Thanks!

There should be a 5/5 500 cap going. Alternatively, Hustler may have games.

5/5 will always be going and is a $10 uber from LAX. Actually, let me know if Uber gives you **** about where they can pick you up from at Lax. I arrived back from cabo, called uber and he's like I can't pick you up in that terminal you need to go to departing? I'm like wtf I just "arrived" I'm not going/even know how to get to departing area and was a **** show so just took a cab.

Uber/Lyft pick up at departures level at LAX. It is not difficult, just go upstairs.

Just take the elevator or escalator up to the next level and that's where they pick up

Thanks everyone. My inbound flight to LAX ended up being delayed a couple hours so that nixed my Hollywood Park plans. Nevertheless I appreciate the info

Went back here for the 2nd time. Goddam it is a grimey looking casino.

They had multiple $100 min/$300 max NLHE games with $3/$5 blinds running and multiple $40 min/$100 max NLHE games running (forgot what the blinds were there).

The games were OK, but the casino is in desperate need of some renovations. Once the stadium goes up this place will be a major eyesore.

This is very entertaining to read as I know what you mean but I'm very much used to it. Once the new place is complete and opens up, LA will seriously be the place for cards between here, the new HG, the Commerce, etc.

I hope they bring those poker/gambling movie posters in their little cafeteria area to the new room...

Random observations:

The new casino is supposedly opening September 14. Hopefully the new building comes with an entirely new floor staff, because its silly how poorly run the casino is.

They took Pad Thai off the menu...wtf? Ate the saltiest fried rice in history instead.

I saw Norman Chad playing the mixed game a couple weeks ago.

Hollywood Park as always been the most disgusting casino this side of the Palace in Hayward, CA. But now that they are opening a new facility in a month, the place has gone to hell. The place could not be more disgusting. I saw an apple core sit on the floor in the "high roller" section for at least two hours this weekend. I'm not talking under a table, I'm talking right out in the open. The carpet is literally sticky.

If the action wasn't so soft, I'd not go, but that be the price I'm willing to pay.

Those movie posters are sweet! I miss the pinball machines though

I bet the action gets even better once the football stadium opens. I think they are also planning to build a lot of nice stores and restaurants and condos and etc. All they need is a light rail/people mover from the airport/century hotels/ and the soon to be open brown metro line. Imagine the tourist action?!?!? Have you ever seen the tourist action at the LAX Firing Range?!?!

Supposedly Mondays see the most $5-10 nl action. I don't know this first hand, but that is what I overheard a floorman saying (thus you can take it with a grain of salt.)

I've never had problems taking or getting an Uber from Hollywood Park. I think that the Uber drivers are happy to be so close to LAX.

If they would change the buy in structure here, like a "real" poker game like not 60 BB max, where at least the 5/5 game could be 200BB deep, then I think the place would be alot better.
