I'm re-warming up to Perryville. Although one thing they really should do there is turn the heat up a bit. Freaking ice box yesterday - but at least they have hot chocolate.

Went there yesterday AM for the 9:30 $35 tourney. Didn't make it too far but had a great cash session after.

The Sat AM tourney had 89 players for a pool of around 2200 and the afternoon $50 usually has a comparable pool (less players) and the cash action on Sat is really good as a result.

Action here has really picked up.

They had a 3k GTD player appreciation tourney (play 40 hours cash in Jan and freeroll with extra chips or buy for $150 (the latter was me)) with a decent turn out (for the size of the room) and had quite a few cash games going. This was on a Thursday and there were waiting lists for seats.

They did get rid of their bad beat - now they have a high-hand jackpot 2x daily and apparently they're trying this cash machine promotion on Wednesdays. Bit to carnival feel for my tastes but I think it'll bring in the pit gamers.

I was playing there last night and they got 2/5 going around 830 or so. Lots of regulars; avg age was probably 45.

Also - seeing an influx of more people that aren't immediate locals. I mean - I'm from White Marsh myself so its a coin flip for me if I'm home where I'll go, but there were definitely other more distant people there.

I haven't been to the Perryville casino yet but I'm thinking about playing in the Sat. AM tournament or Sunday 1 PM tournament. How many runners do they normally get for these?

Bravo page lists totals for the month. Sat AM getting between 86 and 120. Sun getting over 120 for three straight weeks. This includes re-entries

The Celebrity Bar & Grill had a beer tasting last night featuring Troegs Brewery from Hershey PA.

The beer was very good and the food was delicious. The hangar stake had been marinated for 3 days and the Tiramasu (sp?) dessert was amazing.

There was one hiccup - the beer did not come out in the order it should have, so it was not properly paired with the foods. The coffee stout was served with the salad/scallop dish - BAD pairing - but I held onto it until dessert and it was delicious.

We were told there was a problem with one of the taps, that messed up the order of the beers coming out. Too bad the front of the house didn't consult with the chefs as to what alternate beer SHOULD have come out with each course - but that's on front of house not Troegs or the chefs who were both fantastic. So aside from that hiccup, a great meal and we'll definitely go again. The wait staff indicated they are going to be doing more beer tastings with other brewers - can't wait!

The St. Patricks Day tournament had $500 added to the pool which was cool. Despite my wife and I showing up an hour late, I ended up taking 1st place. Very nice.

Delaware Park has now introduced $40 tournaments in a bid to compete with Perryville. In fact, they have two noon $40 Saturday tournaments with a $5,000 guarantee. That's gonna put a dent in Perryville's handle on those two Saturday's I would imagine as DP's starting time is squarely between the two at Perryville. Much more choices these days, I'm very happy about that. Will be interesting to see how things change when Baltimore opens.

I'm also from the White Marsh area so it is almost the same distance to go to Live instead... but I really don't enjoy playing there.

I've typically played at Perryville only on the weekends when there is some solid action but looks like on Bravo there are a few 1-2 tables running regularly throughout the week along with a feature Monday 2-5 game now.

I'm thinking of transitioning my weeknight grind to Perryville... any others on here doing the same?

Would anyone be interested in starting a $10/20 or $8/16 limit holdem game at Pville?

I'd be up for a 4/8 or a 5/10 limit game. I think that would cater better to the typical crowd there... most of the higher stake limit players are gonna make it out to Md Live.

I'd play an O8/LHE mix every Tuesday and Wednesday night if we could get it going.

10/20 or below is fine with me.

I asked them this weekend and they said if they get enough interest they'll run any game any day...assuming they have an open table of course. I can ask around some of the regulars that may be interested to see if we can pick a weekday to do it.

maybe this makes too much sense, but answering a question about buy ins for the games seems like a good way to not only get the game started, but to get someone with zero or minimal limit experience involved.

10-20 typical buy in is 400 or 500. 8-16 many people buy in for 400, some less. Typically 25 large bets gives you a good shot at most limit games, preferably with 25 extra bets in pocket if needed.

Had my first session here on Saturday. Busted twice in the afternoon tourney and played some 1/2. I'm no star, but the field seems pretty damn soft. Any general suggestions for when to go, how to play effectively?

Also, has anyone had any issues with dealer mistakes? I know it happens, but within an hour, I go to raise on the bb to steal the blinds and the dealer thought I checked and had to call the tournament manager, even though both players on my left and right said they didn't see me do so. Not a big deal, but just curious if this is a common occurrence.

There are a couple dealers who aren't 100%. One of them is just slow and lifeless and seems to expose cards more often than usual when dealing the hole cards. Another dealer I had to point out that I had two pair when the pot was almost pushed to a player with a better kicker but no second pair.

That being said, this is my favorite place to play cheap tournaments because it's the closest to me (when you factor in traffic) and the chips are cleaner than at Delaware Park.

My favorite so far is the dealer who adamantly insisted that in a 200/400 blind, putting out 600 constituted a legal raise because, and I quote, "It was 200 more than the small blind".

Then we had one who at a $1/2 table was practically encouraging new players not to accept cards until the blinds had passed. Note - there is no posting requirement at $1/2. You sit, you get cards. Yet this dealer asked at least three new players "do you want to sit out until the blinds pass?" which naturally made them think they had to post otherwise. When asked WHY he asked this, the answer was "to see as many free hands as possible". Dude, they're ALL FREE unless you're in the blinds...

OTOH they also have some really GOOD, FUN dealers who make the game fun even when you're having a bad run. They come up with nicknames for you, engage in witty banter, and give as good as they get (as long as its all in good natured fun).

Let's try and resurrect this idea...

There was a short list for 4/8 full kill O8 last night...

Tuesday/Wednesday at 630pm next week?
