I went back to HC@PN today for the first time since the 'test' day. I had a couple hours free and decided to check it out.
I got there around 1 PM and was immediately greeted at the desk and placed on a list. I was third on the list and there were probably 6-7 tables of 1/2 NL running. The lady who assisted me (dealer uniform, not a floor) asked if I'd like to get a text message on my cell when I was up and I took her up on it.
Five minutes later I heard my name called and immediately got the text message as well.
They sold me chips at the desk and guided me to my seat quickly.
I had a young guy dealing who, for the two hours I was there:
- never made a dealing error
- called out action and straddles clearly and accurately
- was polite and kept the game moving
Never had any problem that needed the attention of a floor and the floors also acted as chip runners and handled the transactions efficiently with the dealer announcing player was playing $XXX behind. Drink service was frequent and reasonably fast.
The table was a typical soft 1/2 game with the expected number of calling stations and players trying to take down pots with 2nd or 3rd pair. I left up $100 after the two hours just playing ABC poker.
The point of this oh-so-boring trip report is the only thing I encountered that I didn't like was the $6 rake. To read some of the posts on here you would think the place was nothing but problem after problem.
I did see a sign stating tournaments were starting Jan 10th. I BELIEVE it was $60+$15 with an optional $5 dealer add-on. For some reason I didn't stop to take better notice of the details.
EDIT: Besides the 1/2 NL tables they had one 3/6 LHE table going and interests list for 5/10 NL and 1/2 PLO, which I never heard called.
