Very excited to get back home to Columbus for Thanksgiving and actually be able to play poker in a card room.

Question about the "regulars." Was the underground game scene in Columbus so big that there is a significant player base?

Pretty decent size imo, especially Gemini and NST.

At one time there were 9 gaming clubs (poker) in the Columbus area plus a few further outside (Marysville / Lancaster). This doesn't include the home games. Plenty of Columbus regulars.

According to Bravo a 2-10 game is underway with a waiting list

2-5 last night turned into a 2-10 and got rolled over; surprisingly, there is no 2-5 running at the moment, according to bravo

Thinking of checking this place out tonight about 7. Will the wait be absurd, and can I call ahead?

You can call ahead up to one hour. 614-308-4655.

Right now they have 18/30 tables going. They usually hit capacity on Friday and Saturday night. At 7 pm you'll be pushing it but you probably won't have that long of a wait. Any later and you'll risk all the tables being full and a long wait.

Just put your name on the list and check in at least once/hour. If you are at the top of the list before you get there, they will hold your spot as long as you check in hourly. From what I've been told. They are all pretty laid back.

Glgl.

Yeah. Ive basically only played in Vegas and AC so my standards are probably too high. But correctly compiling a side pot, or knowing where the blinds are? Come on.

Last weekend there was a 3/6 limit table forming with about 4 players already seated and waiting. One of the players was literally yelling at the floor person to hurry up and get more players to the table because he waited long enough. HAHA... God :>

When cashing out Sunday night, I was asked for my players card. They were apparently recording how much I was cashing out with. The cashier said they were required to do that now. Not a large amount, only a few hundred. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm wondering if they are just keeping track for their own purposes, or if it's for the tax man.

This seems strange to me. As for federal law, they're only required to record transactions over 3,000 and only report them if you go over 10,000 in a single gaming day. Some casinos have a lower threshold - I know Hollywood Indiana recently lowered theirs to 2,500. I've never heard of anyone being asked for ID for only a few hundred though. If that really is some new policy it seems really bad as it's going slow down the cage even more and be off putting to your average casual gambler. Whatever the reason, it can't be for tax purposes. When you cash out, they have no idea how much you bought in for nor how much you won or lost at the table.

correct ... but knowing the cash out will help any player based analytics they may be tracking/developing

They are indeed recording cash out information. I cashed out Saturda night with $1820 and they asked for my ID/player's card to record the amount. I had assumed they were using a $1000 or $1500 limit. I guess not based on previous posts. No buy-in information was asked for....nor would I have told them if they asked.

What could they possibly want this information for. Seems like a waste of time IMO.

In the times I cashed out more than $1,000 they did not ask for my ID or players card.

So if I don't have a players card I can't cash out ? I would like to hear what they say if you say No.

Oooohhh I wonder if they are having problems with counterfeit chips ????

They are recording who is cashing them, so they can trace where the fakes are coming from.

You can definitely still cash out without a player's card, but it sounds like you will need some form of ID.

This is pretty weird, same thing happened to me cashing out a couple hundred on Saturday night (technically Sunday morning). In hindsight the cashier line was going slower than usual... pretty ridiculous if it's going to be a permanent thing for every single person that cashes out.

All of their chips $25 and up have RFID's in them which make them pretty much impossible to counterfeit.

EDIT: Which isn't to say someone couldn't have tried.

I look forward to finding out!

This is probably some hare-brained idea from someone in management. As a long time player at Hollywood Indiana I'm not a bit surprised. Penn National Gaming (Hollywood's parent company) is the nut low at running casinos.

when I was cashing out, they asked the guy in front of me for a players card. He a had a full rack of red and said he didnt have a card. They didnt ask for any other ID. When I got to the cashier they asked if I had card so that they could make sure "everything was in order".

I only had around $180 from the $360 that I bought in with. They asked for and swiped my card before counting down my chips.
