Curious to see if anyone would've spoken up in this situation last night.

The player in the 4 seat was in a hand with a woman in the 9 seat. She was tank debating a call on the river and having some friendly banter w/ the 4 seat ('should I call', 'do you have it', that kind of thing).

The guy in the 3 seat, who was not in the hand, happened to be talking to the guy in the 4 before & during the hand, and on the river he joins in and starts talking to the 9 seat woman while she is in the hand. Then the 3 seat guy starts talking to her about the hand... ie "you can't call here without trips" or something like that.

The player in the 4 didn't say a word and eventually the woman folded and the 4 seat won the pot.

My question isn't if the 3 seat was out of line. He should never be discussing a hand while not involved in it. (If I was in the hand vs that woman I'd have asked the 3 not to talk to me or her while we are in a hand).

My question is this:

As someone at the table, should I:

a) speak up during the hand and inform the dealer that the 3 seat shouldn't be talking to someone in a hand
b) speak up after the hand and tell the dealer that seat 3 was way out of line
c) other
d) do nothing unless something directly affects me

I'd tell then that they shouldn't talk about the hand during the hand if they're not in it.

If it continued, I would complain to the dealer.

**** it down before it had the possibility of affecting you in a later hand.

If the chips are going to a fish don't say a word. If going to shark speak up .

Played with this same guy last night. We were at the table right by the dealer room on the far side - 14.

I came back from dinner and saw I had about 3 hands before I was BB, so I went to use the bathroom just as the dealer was about to start dealing.

When I came back, the hand was still on the flop with said really bad, drunk, slow guy tanking. I said to the guy on my left "is this still the same hand?" thinking that maybe I'd just thought the button was on the same guy. He confirmed. It was painfully slow, but the guy is so bad, you hate to drive him away.

Just switch tables... it sounds like the benefit of having a short-stacking fish is outweighed by how few hands you're seeing. Might be a different story if he was a maniac instead.

Also I would recommend that people watch the rake for mistakes, especially with less experienced dealers. Had a dealer last night who was trying to rake $1 out of any flopped pot, even if it was under $10. I asked for the floor and they confirmed that pots under $10 should not be raked at all, even with a flop.

Has anyone else noticed that the back of the poker room (farthest from the entrance) gets neglected by the staff on all fronts? Seats stay open longer, brushes take longer to come, the floor rarely comes around, and even the waitresses seem to come by less often. I am going to bring this up with a floor person today, it is very irritating. On top of that, last night the Bravo console at our table was not working, so we had to manually tell the floor every time we had an open seat.

I had the best seat at the best table going, no way was I leaving. He had 700-800 in front of him and I had position on him and another fishy tourist with 1k+

I keep mints with me at all times, so when I'm in your situation I take one out for me offer it to the table then give a shake toward the offender in the hope he picks up on the hint, sort of give him an out without embarrassing them.

Wrong answer, speak up always because this moron speaking while the hand is in progress may say something that kills your action and you don't want him thinking its ever ok.

ok so my friend plays 2-5 I'm almost there but he said he hasn't cashed out his chips yet because if its over 1k they track u for tax purposes or something. I told him I haven't heard that from anyone but is this true? I don't understand how this could be if true

Always thought it was 10k then they make you fill out a tax form.

Just tell your friend to pay his taxes and not worry about it.

you only have to do tax forms on tournament cashes, it doesnt matter how much chips you have from a cash game because you could be cashing out 10k and have bought in for 11k and they wouldnt know

If you cash in more than $10,000 the casino will file a Currency Transaction Report. This is a not tax form. It goes to FinCEN (Financial Crimes Enforcement Network) which is part of the Department of the Treasury. Its main purpose to catch people laundering money such as the mob, drug dealers, and terrorists.

The government realized that people were aware of the 10k threshold and might split up transactions to get around it. Therefore casinos are required to make a record any time you cash out more than $3,000; however nothing actually gets reported unless you make more than $10,000 total in transactions in a single gaming day.

Exactly. At 10k they will fill out a CTR just like your bank would, but your bank already has all the info they need about you to do it. Nothing to do with taxes though, and nothing to be paranoid about. Unless of course you actually are a money laundering crime boss.

I never cash put more than $2800 and i get the rest in green if possible. Saves the hassle all the way around.
