I'm glad they changed their mind on the $200 cap. I used to drive right by Cincinnati on my way to Columbus, due to the better buy in structure at Columbus.

1/2- $60 min $200 max (used to be $100 min, $400 max)
2/5 - $200 min $600 max (used to be $1k max)

They've also done away with the $4-8 limit and replaced it with $3-6 limit AND a $5-$10 limit. The fee is going up for the time rake games too. It's now going to be $8/30min where it used to be $6/30 min (I believe). Also, by the wording in their posting it seems like they're going to allow RIT in all the no limit games. I'm not totally sure about that one though.

Like I said, I understand what they're trying to achieve here, but I think this is terrible. One of the only good things this room had going for it IMO is the deeper buy-in structure, and now it's gone. I know they're hoping that all the $1-$2 players who bought in full or near full will now play $2-$5, but obviously this comes with a lot of consequences that will upset many players. It seems like they're trying to split up the $1-$2 player pool, and they're also going to upset some of the regular $2-$5 players who now are forced to buy-in shorter in the $2-$5 game as well.

On top of that, during the slower times when there won't be $2-$5 games running, players' only options are often going to be a $200 cap $1-$2 game, which is the nut f'n low. The one thing that set this room apart from the other casinos in Ohio was the deeper buy-in structure, and that now appears to be gone for the time being. I play in this room 4-5 days per week, but I get the feeling I'll be finding a new room to play in very soon. This room continues to head in the wrong direction IMO.
OMG...this is horrible news. $200 max for $1/$2? Ugh.

Nah you drove past Cincinnati because the games are tougher than Columbus lol.

Not really ever thought the games were that tough in Cincinnati. They just don't play nearly as big with the 200 cap. The 200 cap takes a lot of "poker" or post flop play out.
It was definitely tougher to make money due to the difference in buy in structure.

This is a good move for the players and for the room. Other than the floor always playing favorites to favorites, the deep buy-in at 1/2 was comical. Hopefully the terrible and/or entitled dealers out tbe door!

I made so much friggin money there yesterday. Thank you Baby Jesus for donks who feel it’s a good idea to call off a 100BB stack pre with Q5o, 74s, etc. Thank you for letting me stack them with aces and kings multiple times.

Looks like they just posted here. I think it was orginally mid-Aug, but switched to late Aug-early Sept to not compete with the series in Cincy.

... Smart to wait things out before locking in a schedule. Motor City was working on a deal with WPT Deepstakes for August/October but Gaming was being a pain and now their manager just left to go do something else.

I wish you guys well 'down' there .. I just wish Detroit had better tournament options.

If they keep doing things well and the relationship with HPT grows, then poker will be good for a long time in 'Buckeye land. GL

Thanks for posting, I’d been checking twitter/bravo daily but never go on their website. I’m happy - the only better scenario would have been them trying to compete with Cincy!

If any regs from Hollywood have an open home game, let me know...I play at Hollywood pretty regularly and need a new home game.

I have witnessed Cleveland & Cincinnati both having 4 cage workers at peak times.
Great poker room, but theyre terrible with this...usually one person working the cage in poker room - and that person is usually new or incredibly slow...If youre buying into a tournament, you lose a level of orbits waiting in line sometimes.

Hollywood Columbus is, by far, the beat poker room in Ohio. The worst, Jack Cleveland. I wouldn’t take a dump in that place.

In fairness, I don’t take dumps at any casinos unless I have a room at their hotel.

I like to empty my bowels just prior to taking donkeys money. Opens up a little storage space for the extra cash.

Heard a few players complaining about the promos this month....I actually like them all...the structure for Quads for Cash makes for exciting amounts and so does the Bad Beat....hope they keep up the potential big $$ promos

I get it. Not a huge fan, though. Large portions of our promo fund going to just a very few players. I like the ones where you have more chance at it than a lighting strike. And, judging from the crowds, the Quad promotion is not bringing out the fish much.

Random but has anyone tried to use their poker comps at the Trop? GF and I will be out there in a couple weeks and I've built up like $600 in poker comps. Since I never use them at Hollywood, I was thinking GF and I could hit up a steakhouse at Tropicana for a comped meal but I don't want to run into some weird issue where poker comps don't work or something weird. Anybody have any experience?

Unfortunately, comps are only good at the property they were earned at.

Per some searching and a couple of phone calls ... (Their opinion ... ) The changeover from Marquee Rewards to MyChoice Rewards has gone fairly smooth and all comps should transfer over without issue in full value. I'm not sure what happens on January 1st, but they want the changeover to be 'complete' by then ... so they weren't sure if a Player who still hadn't got a new card as of yet would lose out on any comps.

Of course they said to go to the Poker Room when you arrive to make sure your card works in their building, but this person indicated she hadn't heard of any issues to date.

So if you want to go to the Oakville Steakhouse and enjoy a $59+ steak and $17 soup then you should not end up washing dishes!! GL

I guess we need to define 'comps' and Rewards Points? There probably is a difference ... GL

Yes, tier points that you earn card status with will carry over property to property (ie. If you are a black card in Columbus, you will be a black card everywhere) However, Bravo comps are only valid at the property they are earned at.

I'll be playing there on Friday -- early afternoon through night (11 p.m. or later, probably). I hope for some PLO action. They had a PLO game going today by 12:30, so I feel lucky for Friday.
