How is this obvious?

I agree that players should not move around on their own for the very reasons he stated.

oops... I must work for the casino too

I tried the 1/2 last night. It was probably just a bad table draw, but I sat down with eight 21-35 year old males. 3/8 were wearing dre beats and as far as i could tell, were also mutes. 7/8 of them were nits.

The dealers all had good attitudes, and they tried. That's the nicest thing I can say with honesty.

If I hadn't coolered one of the nits for a $300 bill, it would have been miserable. I ended up winning like $440, but I don't think the game was actually beatable with average luck against that lineup.

Like I said, it was probably just an unlucky table draw. It was also a Wednesday so idk what exactly I was expecting, but it defo was not some type of juicy pushover.

A casino will charge you to play poker in their poker room, this is called the "rake". At Hollywood the rake is 10% of each pot that sees a flop. this amount is capped at $6. Additionally, the casino will take $1 out to fund the Bad Beat Jackpot (BBJ).

This means at Hollywood a pot of $40 is reduced by $4 because of the 10% rake and $1 for the BBJ. And the winner gets $35.

A pot of $80 is reduced by $6 because the 10% rake is capped, and $1 for the BBJ. And the winner gets $73.

The rake and BBJ varies by casino.

So even a a $1000 pot you would win $994 correct? They take 10% plus $1 up to $6? How does this compare to other poker room rates...seems like quite a bit of money to only with $35 from what should have been $40

The $1 Bad Beat Jackpot drop is on top of the $6 rake, so in a $1000 pot you would win $993. The "standard" around the midwest is a $5 max rake. Most rooms also have the $1 BBJ. There are some rooms in highly competitive markets such as Las Vegas which have a max rake of $4. If you're playing in a game where the pot size is routinely $1000 then it's not much of a factor. If you're playing in a game where the pot size is routinely $60 then it's a huge factor.

Going against the rules like this are what causes games to break and rooms to get bad reviews not to mention it puts the floor staff under even greater pressure because now they don't know you moved and they try to seat someone there and now they have to look like an idiot to that player and scramble around dragging him from table to table to get him a seat. Why don't you just give the room some time to get a little experience under their belt and I bet things will be a lot smoother.
First of all I stated moving on my own as one of 3 options going forawd. Something that I have yet to do. Second, it does not cause any confusion as to where to seat players as long as the dealers keep their Bravo updated. Thrid, even if I do decide to move on my own, if you think they'd kick anyone out for that you are out of your mind. Now maybe if you were personally adressed not to do so by the floor numerous times and kept ignoring them then maybe. Do you realize how many people are moving on their own right now whether they know they shouldnt or not? Numerous. I wouldnt say a large percentage of the room but there are plenty. You seem to like to make a mountain out of a mole hill, so maybe you should just settle down and not go on a tyraid about one line in a post about a hypothetical situation.

I live in Columbus, and plan to make this place my regular room, so while I realize that half of the dealers are new, I have to say a few things:

1. Dealers MUST KNOW AT ALL TIMES what is going on with the dealer button. This room operates under the "traveling button" rule, and over the course of the past four days, I have seen many different dealers make many different mistakes on how this rule is implemented.

2. The dealers have to learn how to count side pots. I realize that this comes with experience, but it gets to be pretty sad when the players constantly have to tell a dealer how to correctly divvy up the pot(s).

3. The server staff. After the first two days I just say "screw it," and went to get my own water. Thankfully, there is a free beverage station right outside of the poker room, but you shouldn't have to wait for two (or more) hours to get served just because the waitresses can't announce "drinks/beverages" during the extermely rare times they pass by your table.

4. The check-in system. This should probably be #1, but I'm sort of just thinking out loud to myself while things hit my brain...

This system is horrendous, and I do sort of blame it upon the casino itself deciding that there should be only ONE cashier cage for the entire place. The way it works now is that you sign up for a game, get your chips, and hopefully by the time you get back to tell whomever that you're signed up, there will be a seat for you.

The past two days, I've got my chips first, and then signed up for a game, and it should definitely be the opposite. It is extremely unfortunate that they didn't have enough foresight to put a cashier cage inside of the poker room (like 99.9999999% of all of the other poker rooms in the country), but at least they could have made it so you didn't have to go up to the hour long wait line in order to cash in your chips.

Overall, so far this room gets a 2.5/5. I think that number will go up when they figure things out over the next few weeks, and get rid of the dealers who just can't hack it, but as for now, I have played in home games which run far more smoothly.

Interesting situation Wednesday night at Hollywood...
1/2nl 6 limp in
-flop comes (order of cards plays a role, suit doesn't matter) 5 is door card, dealer spreads cards, 2 is middle card, K is on dealers left
-SB fires out $10 and BB folds. Then dealer adjusts cards and realizes there is a fourth card (a 7) directly under the door card 5.
-she then pulls back the K and declares it the burn card.
-SB goes semi-bananas
-guy in 5 seat -in the hand- states the K was the top card on the deck and the 5 should be the burn card since it was the door card

...... You make the call, what should be done?
I'll tell you what was done after some discussion

Hmm ... if it was done consistent with a similar situation on Monday, the floor instructed dealer to turn the flop face down with extra burn cards, wash all five, then pick three for the new flop ... then ... when every player at the table said WTF declare a misdeal ....

Normally if a four card flop is dealt, and there is 100% certainty about what the fourth card is, you pick it up and make it the burn. If there's not 100% certainty you shuffle the cards back in and deal a whole new flop. However, that all goes out the window here because there was already post flop action under the assumption the flop was K25. The only sane thing to do in this spot is to allow the acted upon K25 flop to stand and make the 7 the burn card. Barring that, the only other possible option I can think of is to just cancel the whole hand and give everyone their money back. There's absolutely no way you can make any of the original 3 flop cards the burn after there's been action.

So the dealer calls the floor
- floor instructs her to wash the 4 cards that were on flop face down..... And yes we all said wtf.....
- she picks 3 of the four cards... And of course, no K.
- SB blows his second gasket seal and takes his $10 bet back
- floor demands he put the $10 back in pot since there was significant action (BB folding) after his bet.
- SB's head actually explodes-leaves money in pot, tosses cards into muck
- seat 5 raises, seat 6 calls, everyone else folds
- seat 5 and 6 agree no matter who wins the pot to give SB $10 back
- SB almost gets kicked out of casino but manager agrees to give him $12 out of the tray as compensation

..... Oh ya, not that it matters but the turn was another 2 and SB held K2

i have been there twice now made decent money fairly easily both times. first night was opening night and i had a crack head, an alcoholic, and two drug dealers at my table. I dont care what the rake is im going to make money against these players. the players have been so bad and i expect the same on the weekends and the beginning of each month when the degenerates get their gov't checks

also, i have never really played a lot of live mostly online, wtf is a traveling button? can someone explain it better than the women dealers who dont know anything. it seems like the dumbest thing ever

My only complaint is that it's about as far away as possible from the parking garage. The VIP/Valet entrance is much closer but valet is $5. I'm not sure if they comp valet for playing poker - I know they do at Hollywood Indiana.
Is the parking garage free whether u play or not? if not, do they comp a parking pass to poker players for playing x amt of time? what's the process to get a parking pass, if so. i.e. @ Horseshoe Cleveland u swipe ur vip card @ a machine and it prints

The proper procedure for a 4 card flop is to turn all 4 cards face down, wash them, then randomly turn 3 over for your flop, and use the 4th for the burn. However, after you put an entirely new flop out there, all the action should restart with first active player left of the button.

I made my first trip to the casino last night. No problems with traffic around 5:00 pm, but I avoided I-270 and approached on West Broad from the east. There is an entrance on West Broad that is kind of hard to find because it is surrounded by strip malls. Parking in the rear is for employees only. Parking garage was nearly empty. Parking on the casino level appears to be reserved as there were gates blocking access. Looks like most people were parking in the surface lot on the Georgesville Road side. Everything inside the facility looks great. Was bigger than I thought it would be. I only had a couple of hours, so I didn't get to sample any of the food. Got an open seat at a $1-$2 table right away. You can buy chips at the podium outside of the room. I didn't have any problems with that but I can see it being a bit confusing at busy times and especially once they start having tournaments with people trying to buy-in as well. Had no problems with the dealers. Saw at least one that I recognized from Lawrenceburg. Had more action at the table where I was seated than I was expecting after reading a number of complaints about tight play in this forum. Several Shark Tank regulars seated there. Pre-flop raises of $7 to $15 about 60% to 70% of the time and they were routinely called by 2 - 4 other players. Saw a number of multi-player pots for well over $100 and a couple over $200. Plenty of TVs, not terribly large if you have bad eyes and are trying to read the crawl, but probably a great place to watch games on Saturday and Sunday. You have to cash out at the cashier with is right next to the poker room. No problem with that last night, but I can see it being an issue when the place is really busy and you have a rack full of chips. Hopefully once the initial rush is over, they will let you cash out at the podium as well. Free beverage center right next to the room. I-270 traffic was fine by the time I left around 7:00 pm. Overall a great experience. Hope to have many more like that starting on Saturday.

Wow, that's horrible. I would have went nuts too if I were the SB. It sounds like they eventually realized they screwed up since they gave him $12 in house money, which you very rarely see. I wonder what they would have done if instead of the action being a $10 bet and a fold, SB had gone all in and gotten called.

Self parking is always 100% free - no play requirement or anything. There are some hustlers at an abandoned mall across the street charging $10, don't fall for that trap.

Ive parked in the garage every time ive went. The garage does end up having you walk in the front entracne of the casino and the poker room is in the back so it is a bit of a walk but i dont mind. I park on the 1st floor of the garage and it's been pretty much empty. You usually can get a spot right next to the door to the elevators on the first garage floor. With the free garage parking being in the back I dont think alot of people know its free. The front entrance to the garage that you see when pulling in is valet so some probably assume the entire garage is valet. The parking hot has always been packed but the garages have been pretty empty. Also with winter coming, Id much rather make the walk through the casino through the garage entrance then a long walk through an open parking lot when its raining/snowing and below freezing.
