I have been under the impression that on Friday they were going to open 24/7 with all 27 tables up and running if the demand was there now I'm hearing 3pm-4am? And still a limited amount of tables?
When are we going 24/7 with 27 tables?

That was the goal; it was never definite.

As you can see from jjnid's post above, the poker room is laying that dead dog on the doorstep of the WVA Lottery. I was told something similar by a floor last night, as well.

abbreviated TR from Wednesday:

left north Arlington at 545--only took 1:15 to get there (Greenway). first time visitor, so mistakenly parked in East garage. was in line at 705, unfortunately it was at the end near the stairs. took at least 30 mins to get through the line--was #77 on 1-2 and #37 on 2-5.
i think i sat down at 11 PM? grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

tons of people waiting around. no names would be called for long periods of time. no chairs to sit on while waiting.

it took forever for mgmt to even get people seated when the tables were initially called since you had to wait in another line to buy chips. i think the last 2-5 table was seated at 840. wtf. that is just ridiculous.
havent these bozos seen new tables start?

i played from 11-3 am thus seeing 8 different dealers (1-2 NL). 1 was excellent, 2 were decent- and the rest i wouldnt have deal at your house. the females are mind numbingly slow and to 1 20 ish male dealer i think it was his first time counting chips. the biggest problem is that most dealers dont direct the action and just sit there when a player doesnt even know it's his turn to act.
it was great b/c the "excellent" dealer's toke box was full to the brim while others were barely half-full.

i'll go back when it's 24/7 and i dont have to wait in ******ed lines. 59 minutes car to door on the way home at 3 am.

It is a work in progress at the very beginning of the work.

There is a row of flat panel televisions running down the center of the room, and between the two rows of tables. If you are sitting in the center of the room (seats 1-4 on one side, or seats 7-10 on the other side), your back will be toward the televisions.

The focus thus far has been on making the room functional, and to get poker up and running as quickly as possible, not on creating ambiance. To the extent that we are now playing poker in C-Town—albeit on a limited basis—they have succeeded. The rest will come.

The clientele that I have spoken to have all been local, if one defines local as anyone who deems it worth their while to drive from wherever they are to C-Town for an evening of poker. This encompasses an area including southern PA, western & suburban MD, northern VA, and of course, WVA.

fyp: thought it was a bit harsh.

Wow, it seems C-town underestimated the crowd sizes for poker. Perhaps this will convince them to try and quickly organize a room with 40-50 tables... or not. Their "tightest slots on the east coast" are probably generating more revenue as a result of the table game grand opening. I would bet that thousands show up with the idea that they will play poker/blackjack only to realize BJ minimums are $50+, while poker lines are 200 deep, therefore donking away their $150 in a few penny slots.

Did anyone catch their variety of -EV table games? Any good or unusual carnival games?

I have to disagree here. The CTown folks I spoke to even as early as 6 months ago were all too aware of the potential customer base they have. The problems they are having right now don't seem to stem from underestimating the crowd as much as overestimating WVa Gaming. If they had been allowed to stage the tables before July 1 and if all the licenses for dealers had been processed, I suspect this would be a much different story. That doesn't just go for poker, but all the table games, IMO.

They are now going from crawling to walking to running all while being open for business starting on a holiday weekend. The plans have always been for the 27 tables in the current poker room to be the beginning of the poker room, not the end. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, give it time, folks.

I know the lines are long for the NL games. How are the waits/lists for the mid-LHE games (10/20+)?

I was there tonight. I waited from 7 pm to 10:30 and then just left. The wait was ridiculous and they're only open until 4 am.

Even the 1000NL and 2000L tables had full lists waiting. A lot of people put themselves on most, if not all, of the table lists, so I saw a few people buying into 1000NL with the min. of 300...The place is a madhouse.

The tables are nice and do have automatic card readers at the table.

Security guards the room like a fortress and they don't let anyone stand around the tables. But I did manage to see some action at a 500NL table

Cutoff open raised to 25, button 3bet to 125, BB 4betshoves 400. Cutoff calls, Btn calls. Cutoff shows AK, Btn refused to show, BB shows JJ. A on river. "Open seat 2/5"

I think the room will be a nice place to play once it gets up and running right, but I'm gonna wait a little while before I go back.

Think we played at the same table

Till further notice I have been told they will be 3-4 list still starts an hour ahead. Will still be limited to 10 tables. Had a bunch of rookie dealers today. Had to keep on them but they were trying and learning.

They rake 10% to 40.00 which is a MUCH better stucture, since time is a winners gain and losers..... simply lose faster. In other words, if I'm card dead at a raked pot, I really don't pay a rake. Lines may still be long at DP this weekend, and I was going to stop into Charelstown this past weeek, but the TR's convinced me to stay away until they are settled down. I drove to DP from Columbia, Md in 1.5 hours, but no traffic which is not always the case. At Charlestown, if the dealers stink and are slow in a time game, they have tight slots to occcupy time, you have to wait on line to get on the list, they rake 6.00 per down, you can't play craps, BJ or anything else unless your betting 25.00 mins....... I means seriously, why would anyone drive out there before they get things settled? Not me, I'll play at DP and visit sometime in the future.
Why are you constantly shilling for DP? For anyone south of Baltimore, CT is going to be closer. And the answer to your question regarding the CASUAL 1-2 player is that they're going to care a lot less about rake.

Question regarding the wait list / line:

Is it like most places where you can sign in, and leave, and check back to get an update, or do you actually, physically, have to wait in a line the entire time?

Thanks

huh? it would work like any other list. if they call your name and you're not around to take your seat, your name is off the list.

i really don't think it would be that hard. i am a network administrator and work for a software engineering company. we make systems that are far more complex than what this simple system would need to be everyday. however, i don't think my company would be interested in pioneering this market. but i do think the opportunity is there.

Once you get your name on the list you can go do whatever you want. But to get your name on the list, you have to camp in line for a while if you want your name to be high up enough on the list to get on the first tables.

How long does it take to get a players card and what is the process? How much earlier should I show up if I plan on getting one?

Not long at all, and you get some free slot dollars. You could easily get on the list then go get the card to kill time.

guessing it's logistically too difficult to have those flashing things like you get at resteraunts so you could play slots or sit at the bar or BJ until your table is ready? Maybe an electronic toteboard with names on it you could see from different parts of the casino?

I was talking to the poker host and they said that the rake is NOT state law. It is the poker manager that sets that rake. He suggested that we all talk to the POKER ROOM MANAGER to get the rake changed the winners pot vs TIME RAKE.

To me $1 every 5 minutes = $6 every 30 min = $12 every hours...is freaking BS

PLEASE EVERYONE, TALK TO THE POKER ROOM MANAGER AND GET THE RAKE SYSTEM FIXED!!!!

The more ppl going up to the manager the more he/she will be pressured to change the rake system.

If anyone knows the name of the poker room manager and their phone number please post. Again call, talk to them in person or write a letter about the rake before they are set in their ways.
