What's your problem dude? This forum has been previously used to organize carpooling. If that is something you are not comfortable with, feel free to stay out of the discussion. Your comments are neither required nor appreciated.

I feel that it is always good to remind people of the dangers of agreeing to such things online without knowing the people you are dealing with. If you meet someone at the casino a few times and become friends that's one thing. However to meet strangers in random places with a pocket full of cash when you've only known them via forums is generally a bad idea.

One anonymous person saying another anonymous person is an okay guy does not make it any better an idea to meet the first one in some random place. Both posters have the potential to be the same person, we cannot prove otherwise.

If you're not doing anything sketchy then you have nothing to worry about with my comments. Write them off. Someone who is going to offer a ride to you will not heed my warning anyway. If you feel my comments are neither required nor appreciated, does that indicate you have something to hide? Perhaps someone else appreciates my bringing this thought to their attention.

I can completely agree with cf410 on this. Especially when the post comes from someone who just created an account and has 4 posts. While he may be completely legit and I may even recognize him if I saw him if he is a regular, it still is not a good idea for the exact reasons cf410 stated.

Your point is very well taken about meeting anonymous people and I can't agree any more with you. However, the way in which you ridiculed the poster, by describing an imaginary sequence of events is not acceptable. You were implying that the posting is a scam, without any proof. It discourages dialogue, discourages new members from posting and discourages people from organizing carpooling for fear of meeting with a similar response.

It was good to mention, it made me think twice about offering a ride. I probably wouldn't be robbed but why take a chance for gas money. The same reasoning I don't pick up regular hitch hikers along the road.

I merely wrote a response in the way that I read the original post. I did not ridicule the poster, it was more an alternate way of thinking about the request. I'm not stopping anyone from posting such requests and if they do, they have to accept that the replies are not always going to be what they want.

You say I implied the post was a scam without proof. Offer me proof that it was not a scam and I will apologize.

Dialogue seems to be occurring from my post. I think that if someone asks a question and gets honest responses that encourages new posters. It may discourage organizing car pooling off a website, but that's not a problem as I see it. I'd rather see similar warnings in the future about meeting random strangers who know you'll have a pocket full of cash and discourage 100 true carpooling efforts than have one occur that results in badness.

I saw the above post previously and I am confused as to what is true. Does Verizon 4G work in Charles Town or not?!?

What's the wait for 1/2 right now? Thinking about heading up in an hour or so.

Yes, it worked for me. I was using it last Tuesday. I only checked it specifically in the poker room. My old 3G (Droid X) did not work. My new DROID Razr does work.

Thanks for the reply. Does that mean you were getting a 4G signal or just 1x? I am also considering getting the Razr.

The comments about the rumor of a new room say 30 tables with the upstairs reverting to a tournament area. That still leaves us with only 30 tables, correct? I arrived on Friday at 5:35PM and got called for PLO at 3:40 AM. It would be nice to have enough tables so that we don't have to wait 10 hours for a game. The poker room manager commented that Friday was the busiest night ever (I'm sure in terms of revenue, as they were even more mobbed when they first opened.). I don't think they necessarily need a lot more tables, but if they go to that kind of effort, I would hope they would at least find room for another 10 cash tables. More tournaments would likely draw more cash players as well, provided the two areas are close enough together.

The movement of the cash area to the first level resolves part of my earlier post about food options. While I appreciate the one poster suggesting the bar at the bottom of the stairs, its still a long way from the room. If we moved downstairs, then it would be much easier to go to the nearest food area and get something. Tournament players get breaks that allow them to run down if they need to, but for cash, I hate to spend time losing focus on the other players if I can avoid it.

Busy. As of 1120....

1-2 9 tables, 75 on list
2-5 4 tables, 30 on list
5-10. No table but 12 on list so probably start soon.
3-6 limit. 1 table, 8 on list

15 tables sitting empty as Ctown once again underestimates demand.

Looks like it will be one busy day.

73 ppl on 1/2 list (10 tables open)
31 on 2/5 (4 tables)
10 on 5-10 (1 table)
18 on 3-6 limit (1 table)
Open seat PLO

Crowd is building faster than they are opening new tables.

My understanding from some of the people is that the current room would not only serve as a tourny area but also be available for overflow on the weekends and holidays.

All tables were in use at about 3 today, they were calling in dealers early and asking them to stay late. Most times there was only one cashier, so that line was very long numerous times.

Just wanted to introduce myself to the thread here. Played a bunch at the Hollywood in Harrisburg PA and Borgata/Harraha's AC. I haven't swung by the Charles Town card room yet, but I'm hoping it isn't as godawful as Harrisburg's casino is! See you guys @ the tables soon.

Even though this is a bit OT, lack of coverage @CT is a huge annoyance for me; only been able to get VERY spotty roaming 1x data coverage in the poker room (and the area next to it by the track windows) with my 3 month old Droid Bionic. My battery drains like crazy as my phone desperately tries to connect & fails 90% of the time- I usually end up just turning it off.

The official Verizon coverage map claims the whole area in downtown Charles Town has 4G data coverage; I may have to call them to complain & try testing it out in the open areas.

There are escalators when you walk down the steps from the poker room and go left into the casino and bend left again around the corner. 2 small ones.
