I believe that you are being honest with me and the community when you say that the marks you noticed were only on diamonds. But my experience and the experience of others in this thread has been that the card shufflers produce this kind of mark across all the cards.
I too have been in the position of notifying the floor of the marks because I thought they were unique to a particular suit/rank/etc., but when I continued to observe the cards I noticed that the distribution was wider than I had expected and the marks were almost always in the middle of the cards.
Anecdotally, think of it this way: what player is going to...
(1) cheat at 1/2 NLHE;
(2) cheat in a way that is so easily recognizable to other players, e.g., marking the backs of cards; and
(3) cheat by marking the middle of the cards in a similar fashion across all cards of a similar suit?
Again, I stress that I do not think that you are lying or trying to be misleading at all. I'm merely asserting that it's my opinion that if you get a bigger sample size, you might find that you observe this phenomenon on a broader basis and that your observations then might allay your concerns that cheating is occurring.
Good luck on the felt if you're out there again today.
