10-20 at Hollywood rocks, but the wait makes the winrate tough when you factor in 2-3 hours of 0 profit.

It's easy to beat that many showdowns in limit, same as no limit. You tighten up and play hands that make the nuts not top pair top kicker. You don't bluff. You recognize the variance and say nice play when you lose so they throw the money in the same way next time.

Used to play there all the time, when I lived close. Now between the construction on 290 and the wait I go to Horseshoe in Hammond.

bump.

this place was where i learned the ropes back in the day...they actually used to spread 5/10 ZOMG!!! but really, the 10/20 still has a special place in my heart...logged countless hours there and still drop in from time to time to splash around. if you like crazy loose, 6+ callers to the flop (sometimes further), LHE games, then this is for you. definitely need to know how to handle yourself in some sticky spots because the reg's there literally play ATC...especially if they're sooted and booted.

hmmm...might have to make an appearance tonight now that i think about it...

can anyone tell me how long the wait for 10/20 or 20/40 is on tuesdays if im not on the main list?

The 20/40 is the "feature game" on Tuesdays, which is the only day it runs. Players who were in the game the previous week get priority when the game starts at 5:00 p.m. The 10/20 just has a normal wait list. You can call 1 hour before arriving to get on any of the wait lists: 630-801-7471.

If the 20/40 game is full at 5:00 then you would probably have to wait hours before getting in. This week they had 3 open seats at 5:00, but it was full when I left at 6:00. 1 regular in the game told me he was staying at my 10/20 game because the BBJ is over 300K (quad 5's or better). The 20/40 game doesn't participate in the BBJ. Another regular stayed at my game, but he didn't say why. This might be a good time to get into the 20/40 game if you're there right at 5:00.

The wait for a 10/20 seat just depends on if there is 1 or 2 games running. There's often a seat open if 2 games are running. It can be a 1-2 hour wait if there is only 1 game. You can try calling to find out how many games are running.

Last edited by toomuchwine; 09-15-2011 at 12:57 AM. Reason: 20/40 doesn't have the $1 BBJ drop

Does 2/5 NL run on Friday and Saturday nights? Does it run otherwise? What's the rake? Thanks in advance.

2/5 NL hasn't run in quite some time...the game basically moved to the Shoe. This past Saturday, there were 4 tables of 1/2 NL and 2 tables of 10/20 LHE going when I got there at like 10 PM.

Rake is still a redick max $8+1 for BBJ...which is over $320K at the moment last i saw.

Been playing the 1-2 games here a decent amount recently, can't stand their must move tables and high rake, but the games are still really good.

Did they move/remodel the room? How many $1/$2 games typically run on weeknights? What are typical wait times (I know it used to be long)?

Played here last night, first time in 2-3 years, and not much has changed. Still a crappy little room, grease board, slow-azz dealers and weak players. It felt like I was playing in in an old folks home and there really weren't any old folks playing.

Seems they only deal $1/$2 NL, $10/$20 LMT and $15/$30 LMT which if you like limit would make this the place to play. I don't so the only redeeming value is that the casino is on my way home.

I play poker (recreationally 4-6 times per month) all throughout the Midwest, mostly at Harrah's Joliet and this is the most depressing room around. I dislike Majestic even more but atleast they seem to take poker more seriously.

The one brightside is the poor play, so catch any kind of cards and you will cash in, but unfortunately there never seemed to be much cash on the tables...at least last night.

Arrived at hollywood
walked throught the tunnels
jumped on a 1/2 table and within 39 minutes doubled my $200 stack
walked over to register to the $160 tourney (which is now a rebuy tourney!)
shipped 4th place for $790
walked back to table 1/2 and doubled again!

Ahh good old Hollywood Aurora. Sadly, my home for 85% of my poker playing. I'm a fairly regular there playing 1-2 mostly during the evenings. Mario, congrats on booking a nice cash; I've personally found the structure of the tournament to be too frustrating to even attempt and highly conducive to attracting donks and all around seeming like a donkament.

Any other regs that post (meaning regs in the gamr. I don't consider myself a reg on 2+2 because of such low post count although I am a heavy lurker reading here daily. Im going to start posting in the low limit live sub forum for some hand reviews. Also, for any regs in that game I'm also very familiar with both ccg and rcg and have played both quite often but am looking for some good home games that are running in the aurora/naperville area.

Room is supposedly being moved/renovated middle of April. Can someone confirm? It has been talked about for the last several months, but my understanding is the current poker room will be filles with video poker slots while the poker room will move to the current high limit slot area. All current poker tables will move in there combined with current tournament tables.

Hopefully they will spread more games, and more importantly lower rake so it matches thay of Hollywood Joliet, Harrahs Joliet, Horseshoe, etc

Your in luck. I live in Aurora and run a home game that several other 2+2er play in. Check out my thread in the home poker games thread or shoot me a PM. I'm also hosting a home poker meet up (HPI) in July that is stickied in the home poker forum.

On topic I haven't played at thr Hollywood recently but have played there from time to time. Usually play the 10/20 half kill game though.

Goodluck. I was there last night. I've been to GV a few times, but honestly, their myriad of rules is annoying (no gum? No hoodies?) and Elgin is quite a hike for me. I'd much rather drive an extra 10 minutes and head to the Horeshoe.

I will say Elgin has the best action though...that 2/5 game plays insane.
