No ****! You would think it would've been plastered all over their social media and web page. Grand Opening, something. Nothing though. I texted a guy a couple weeks ago that I know goes there almost every day to ask if the new building was open and he said "yeah it's been a couple weeks now" haha. go figure. Put millions into a new facility and don't even advertise that it's open.

Apparently they are still in soft open. They are replying to comments on their Facebook page.

Since they do not use Bravo (which is ridiculous imo), but anyway, can someone tell me, roughly, the frequency/volume of 5/10+ NLHE and/or 5/5+ PLO at Hawaiian Gardens? Even better if you can add the limits/how deep they tend to play.

Rough weekdays/weekend estimates would be great, thanks for any info...

The facility is beautiful but the poker structure made me never want to go back.
At 5/3 they have a 300 dollar max buy in cap. That I just don't understand and personally have no interest in.

I played there " deep stack" muti day tournament. The levels weirdly get shorter as it went on and they skip every other level and it played more like a daily than a deep stack. Have no interest in that kind of poker either.

The structures of all their tourneys were similarly too fast or structured poorly. It's such a nice place but if the only options at my limit are super short buy cash and turbo-feeling, level skipping tourneys, they really aren't doing anything The Commerce isn't doing way better. It's a shame, since it is a nice looking facility.

Any updates? I'm going to be traveling to Costa Mesa this week and looking to play low limit games. What can I expect? Any tips? Thank you in advance.

Is there any chance to get a deep low limit buy in holdem game. I would love to start playing live. A 1/2 $200 buy in game would be great. Are players working on getting this? Or no one really cares.

Pretty sure neither the regulars nor the room managers want it. The only people who want it are non-regulars who are good players, and neither of those groups wants them coming in. The fact that these games don't exist is probably the main reason why poker is healthier in the LA area than anywhere else in the country.

Since HG isn't on Bravo I was curious as to what kind of games are spread here regularly. Is it all LHE/ LO8, NLHE, PLO, 7 card or are there any draw games - Badugi/Badeucy/2-7, etc- or Razz? If so what limits?

Thanks in advance

Does the HG 5/10nl game play any differently than commerce 5/10nl or about the same?

The HG 5/10 NL is pretty much the same at the Commerce 5/10 NL except for the fact that UTG straddling is allowed in the HG 5/10 NL game...whereas the Commerce 5/10 NL game does not allow straddling.

I guess that is a bonus if you like straddling.

HG also drops only $1 preflop if hand ends preflop whereas Commerce drops $2 preflop if hand ends preflop. Therefore, HG average rake/drop is a little lower than Commerce average rake/drop.

So what are the blind/Buy ins here?

Someone told me they have a 3/5 $600 max game?

can't remember if it's 2/5 or 3/5 but must buy in $300
5/5 $300-600
5/10 is 500-1500 I think but not positive.

Staying in Long Beach, not far from this place, m-f next week for work. How are the evening tournaments? Do they really run a $10 $3k guarantee on Monday? Sounds dumb enough to be fun.

The state wants to pull their gaming license, and the employees just got new uniforms with no logo on them. It seems like the company doesn't think the hearing is going to go their way.

Hadn't been to "The Gardens" for a few years, finally visited a few weeks ago for the first time post-renovation. Surprised to see that they don't have PLO or even limit Omaha Hi-Lo anymore, wtf?! No Hi-Lo limit games for an L.A. card room is just ridiculous.

But the main thing is this strange rule that I encountered. I'm playing 2/3 NL which is a $200 buy-in, I have like a $900 stack and I get a table change to sit at the same table as my friend. I sit down with my chips and the dealer informs me that since I table changed, I can't have more than the max buy-in of $200, wtf?! Seems like a very strange and counter-intuitive rule. You would think that it would be the exact opposite, that they would force you to sit down with the same amount if you table change. Otherwise all the degens, ratholes, and weak-players could just table change and take money off the table anytime they get a big(ger) stack. Granted I don't play much NL, but I've never seen this at any other card room. Does this rule seem as ridiculous for anyone else as it does to me?
