Could you provide insight into how the room was run, how the games were (tight, loose, big stacks, plate types) and such?

Mostly regulars who play tight mixed in with some loose aggressive types. Stacks aren’t too big, you can comfortably play with $1-200 most of the time. Room is ok but if you’re on the wait list you gotta wait around because if they call a name you have to be there to hear it. And also they might not even announce a free seat right away even if someone left. There also might be like 4-5 names on the list, but it could be guys already seated because they sign up for both 1/2 and 1/3 and play whatever opens up first. But overall a decent room which provides a Comp room depending how long you play and which day of the week it is. Also a high hand every hour that stacks, so $300 turns to $600 and then 900 etc. Which doubles if you hit a royal flush.

I'm going to be staying at Harrah's AC for conventions in April and May and will add on a few days of poker before and after the work days. I haven't played there in 15+ years. I prefer 2/5. Should I plan on playing there or go to Borgata?

Are there any other surviving poker venues in AC?

For 2/5 you probably wanna go to Borgata. I think Harrah's might have one 2/5 table? But Borgata is the only place with a reasonable amount of 2/5 players

I've been to AC twice in the last year and always stay at Harrah's (my local casinos are all CZR so get better rates), and I've only seen a 2-5 table running there one Saturday night, and it wasn't there all night. Borgata way better.

Harrah's does run 1-3 with a $500 cap, which plays basically like a short 2-5 though.

Harrahs 1-3 vs borgata 2-5 are two completely different beasts imo. 2-5 at borgata dudes can potentially be 4-5k deep. I have never seen anyone have a stack anywhere near that big at harrahs

That’s true. 1/3 Harrahs 500 max cap vs 2/5 Borgata 1000 max cap is the main reason.

oh I agree completely, Harrah's 1-3 played like Bellagio 2-5 to me, average open size was still 15-20 when I was there and then you've got the same game really

Has anyone recently tried to get the free room for the 4 hours of play? I called and they said it's Sunday-Thursday but it's subject to availability. Was curious if anyone has had success lately and on which day. Thank you

I’ve never had success in getting a room the same night, no matter how long a session I played. The comped room offer can be used within 7 days of your play and I’ve always been able to get a room that way.

The one time I asked the poker room Manager made a call and got me a room. He told me to ask as soon as I start the session

Is the laurel lounge back to pre covid or is there a big difference now?
Still free drinks? Hows the food? Still buffet style? What days and hours open?
thanks.

Trip report:

Wife and I went to Harrah's for 3 night stay recently.
Planned to see Dr. Strange @ the Trop Imax, head out to Dock's Oyster Hose and relax for a few days.
Checked rates at Borgata, Harrah's and Trop. Settled on an Atrium Suite at Harrah's, as Borgata rates were similar for a standard room and poker is better at Harrah's than the Trop.

Great that they allow pets. Not great having to dodge dogshit on the way into the lobby.
Suite was nice, but not real nice.
Oshi has great wings, good sushi and good wonton noodle soup. The duck was terrible.
Coastal Craft was a good breakfast.
Cafe Tazza was convenient for coffee and light breakfast snacks.

Seated at a new table on Friday night. A few fun loose aggressive players made for a close to ideal situation, but my luck didn't run right. Plenty of reloads around the table, but after a few hours the table had a few good deepstacked players and it was time to call it.

Saturday night had a "regular Harrah's" table with lots of limps and checks. Didn't work out much better, but still enjoyable. Did not enjoy the guy who sat and emptied about 500 in chips out of a ziplock, spent time stacking them, allowed the blinds to pass and played only his free hands before racking up. Did not enjoy the guy who hit quads a few minutes after the announcement that the high hand was rolling over. Bothered the floors about checking time and the tape, ended up winning $600 on the rollover anyway before getting on the board with quads again. Apparently that table before I sat also won a few high hands (see limps/checks).

I enjoyed some cigars at the smoking allowed slots. Comfortable enough chairs and beverage service on demand.

Was nice to get away, but we'll return to Borgata and maybe sneak a Trop trip in for variety next time.

Which Towers/Floors have the best WiFi at Harrahs AC? Planning to play some online (WSOP events) poker on the next trip. Do not need ultra high speed or anything, but want to make sure that Wifi stays stable/consistent without disconnections. Please only reply if you actually visited in the last year or so. Thx in advance for recommendations/tips!!!

I spent a week in the Laguna tower, 11th floor, May 2022. It is halfway between the poker room and convention center, so just where I needed to be. WiFi was fine in the room, poker room, and convention center. On my phone, I used it for surfing Reddit and emails , no problems. Used my laptop in the room to connect to the office and use MS Office 365. Again, no issues. It wasn't lightening fast, but workable for spreadsheets.

I stayed in the Waterfront tower a few months ago, an upper floor facing the borgata and I can recall being on the phone with the front desk about getting the wifi to work properly.

I know from experience of staying in a lot of hotels, some floors are better than others, depending on how far away your room is from the nearest router, even in the same tower.

Is the "Coastal Tower" a new physical building or did Harrahs just re-brand and renovate an old building?
Where is the "Coastal Tower"?

It's just a renovated tower, I think it used to be called the Harbor view tower but I'm not fully certain.
