That seems extreme, if everybody kept folding all day the dealer would probably say something

The OE game at Harrah’s is every bit as bad as YouFold says, but not as bad as FishTails does. It wasn’t a “private game” when it ran elsewhere. I played it for only a couple of hours at Harrah’s and won’t return.

I used to enjoy playing it, it’s gotten real bad since they’ve come back from the pandemic

I haven't played it post pandemic, but used to play it a lot before, and they are definitely insufferable gas bags, except for the bracelet winner who's been a fixture since the Moneymaker days.

They might not be comp whores the way that was suggested above, but they definitely care a great deal about them.

Considering that their average player age is 65+ they should want some new blood in those games, kind of weird.

I used to love playing with those guys. But they are miserable comp Where's, as evidenced by that game moving many times over the years. It's weird they landed at harrahs, as while they may get their hourly comp that they want, harrahs has terrible food options compared to other casinos imo. Maybe they use it at other cet places, but who knows.

I envision this game will literally die out soon. I was by far the youngest when I played when I was 35.

The signup kiosk in the poker room no longer is functional, so they slap a piece of paper on the desk with the games on it and you write down your name, most of the old folks put seat numbers next to their names as well.. the room doesnÂ’t officially open til 11aM..

I walk in at 830. And put my name and my buddies name down.. #1 and #2. Sweet. Go to Starbucks, and begin my slot binge after..

1045 I walk back to poker room, and see all the usual suspects already sitting at the table that the 10/20 is on.. there are 2 seats remaining, I take one of them
And lock the other up for my buddy who is coming from The garage.

The poker room manager comes to the table, produces a random list from his pocket, looked to be a piece of toilet tissue or paper towel perhaps and starts calling off the names, to which myself and my buddy are not on this magical list.

The rather tall, white haired, sarcastic regular that everyone knows and adores, says you didnÂ’t know this was a private game, you have to leave now. Floor guy pulls me aside, apologies and basically kisses regs posterior saying how they brought the game to HarrahÂ’s and we canÂ’t upset them, they generate rake, blah blah blah. I eventually get in the game 5
Mins later after someone doesnÂ’t show up...

Played for 3 hrs, booked a win... obvious soft play, unbearable table banter, old guys calling the lady dealers sexy and yummy.. IÂ’ve played with most of them in that game for the last 10-11 years in various Card rooms, but itÂ’s never been that bad.. I will never play again.
There had been no 10/20 Omaha/stud8 game in AC.
The tall white haired reg took it upon himself to organize the game. He enlisted players, some of whom drive hours to get there, they wouldn't make the trip unless they had a seat reserved for them.

The manager agreed to allow reserved seats and now the only 10-20 Omaha/stud8 on the East Coast is running at Harrah's

No one told you to leave. You were told if someone doesn't show you were welcome to the seat which is what happened.

As far as the banter with the dealers that is what separates this room from the "just shut up and deal" rooms. They create a fun atmosphere.

Our player base is growing and it's a shame you don't want to be a part of it.

Sincerely
1 of the regs

Obviously you haven't observed the game 95% of the pots are contested

I haven’t played it lately but I liked the action when I did. Is there still a kill? Any chance the game ever runs on weekends? Yes the regs can sometimes be cranky and annoying but I hate to say it, that is every high low game in the world. Just what you have to put up with if you like playing the games. The private game thing sounds like bs but I. Sure the casino puts up with it because they like the rake.

You and the room manager aren’t doing yourselves any favors with the “private game” situation and the way it’s communicated. And I say that as a player you know from playing many times in the other rooms and offered to include in the private game list, but I don’t want to get involved in being a part of that. I’m sure it helped get the game back after the room closures but it’s time to change what you’re doing. It’s not a good look for you and you may not know it but the room manager is extremely rude about explaining it to interested potential players. He’s a huge turn-off. I tried to explain that to one of the current regs but he just wanted to defend the manager. .

lol at the player base is growing. So much so that you need to enlist players to even play the game.

No one told him to leave, but just said that he'd be out of a seat if all those who planned on being there after driving hours didn't show. Yea, such a welcome greeting to new players in growing your bae.

Anyone who has played the game for more than 10 minutes know exactly what kind of banter happens with the dealers and other players. It's not complimentary or fun. The dealers have to put up with you guys as its their job and depend on your tips. Which you guys would totally blacklist from tips as a group if you deemed a dealer "unfriendly" if they took offense.

The manager has gained a (regular?) game, but at a cost of excluding others. I myself won't come to Harrah's now knowing this, since I like the game, but I'm not going through a side waiting list.

Enjoy your home game HiLowDonk.

Imagine driving hours and hours to play in a trash OE home game at Harrah’s in Atlantic City. When you could probably go to Parx and play in an action packed 6/12 OE game. Why don’t you guys go there? No comps? They won’t put up with your garbage?

Delusional much?

And fwiw, most of the dealers (all of the female ones) hate every single one of you. Wish you could be a fly on the wall and hear what they say about every single one of you when you’re not there.

Keep sipping your own kool-aid

Planning a trip to NOLA in November, how many hours of $2/$5 in Harrah's AC you think it takes to get me comped weekend rooms at Harrah's NOLA?

46 million. Will get you nothing for other properties. 2/5 barely runs, if ever. Besides, NOLA won’t even be in existence after Hurricane Ida

Didn't realize Cesar's doesn't do comps to other propoerties....2/5 really rarely runs in Harrahs?

Yeah everyone plays 2-5 at Borgata (or Parx). 1-2/1-3 will run at Harrah's but hardly ever seen 2-5 there (though haven't been for a few years at this point).

Pretty sure Total Rewards pts do help at other properties (I get cheaper rooms just having a TR card at properties I've never been to before), but not sure what it'll take for NOLA, it's not like it's Vegas.

I mean you’ll get reward credits and tier points but don’t expect freebies.

Hurrahs Nola could literally open right now as far as facilities. They have power back and the building is fine. Damage in Nola proper was what would be expected for a cat 2. Don’t think Nola saw cat 3 winds. The issue for Nola is first the high voltage feeder lines went down and then also distribution lines. But direct damage to Nola not so much.

Now down the road at LaPlace, Burnside, Geismar, etc very different story.

I do agree it will take a bunch of hours of poker in AC to get a comped room in Nola. It may be possible with poker only but it may not even be possible.

It is not possible. You gotta have a pretty high theoretical to get NOLA (even weekdays)

On the other hand Vegas (incl. Caesar Palace) and Lake Tahoe are realistically attainable through (mostly) poker

Played at harrahs the other day, apparently you don’t earn tier credits playing roulette anymore. Was blind raising every hand in 1/2 here and eventually 2 action guys sat down and played some good hands.

Has anyone played here recently?

I’ll be going to AC with friends and wife (not for poker) but will be staying at Harrah’s, so would considering playing when I can, depending on how the room has been. Any info is appreciated, thanks!

I’m gonna play today. Beforehand generally about 2-3 tables of 1/2, maybe a table of 3/6 limit and a 1/3. Maybe those numbers might be higher or lower depending on what day of the week it is and time
