The signup kiosk in the poker room no longer is functional, so they slap a piece of paper on the desk with the games on it and you write down your name, most of the old folks put seat numbers next to their names as well.. the room doesnÂ’t officially open til 11aM..
I walk in at 830. And put my name and my buddies name down.. #1 and #2. Sweet. Go to Starbucks, and begin my slot binge after..
1045 I walk back to poker room, and see all the usual suspects already sitting at the table that the 10/20 is on.. there are 2 seats remaining, I take one of them
And lock the other up for my buddy who is coming from The garage.
The poker room manager comes to the table, produces a random list from his pocket, looked to be a piece of toilet tissue or paper towel perhaps and starts calling off the names, to which myself and my buddy are not on this magical list.
The rather tall, white haired, sarcastic regular that everyone knows and adores, says you didnÂ’t know this was a private game, you have to leave now. Floor guy pulls me aside, apologies and basically kisses regs posterior saying how they brought the game to HarrahÂ’s and we canÂ’t upset them, they generate rake, blah blah blah. I eventually get in the game 5
Mins later after someone doesnÂ’t show up...
Played for 3 hrs, booked a win... obvious soft play, unbearable table banter, old guys calling the lady dealers sexy and yummy.. IÂ’ve played with most of them in that game for the last 10-11 years in various Card rooms, but itÂ’s never been that bad.. I will never play again.
There had been no 10/20 Omaha/stud8 game in AC.
The tall white haired reg took it upon himself to organize the game. He enlisted players, some of whom drive hours to get there, they wouldn't make the trip unless they had a seat reserved for them.
The manager agreed to allow reserved seats and now the only 10-20 Omaha/stud8 on the East Coast is running at Harrah's
No one told you to leave. You were told if someone doesn't show you were welcome to the seat which is what happened.
As far as the banter with the dealers that is what separates this room from the "just shut up and deal" rooms. They create a fun atmosphere.
Our player base is growing and it's a shame you don't want to be a part of it.
Sincerely
1 of the regs
