Just got back from there this weekend. 109 Friday and Saturday 59 the rest of the week....

109 is reasonable... How exactly does it work? Do you go and play for the required amount of hours (8 is it?) and than ask for the room or do you book it and get the rate if you complete the hours?

Either the poker room will book the room ahead of time at the poker room rate, or sometimes they make you book the room, play the 5 hours, and they will call and reduce rate.

Hey guys I was thinking of hitting up Harrah's this sunday to play in the 58+12 turbo bounty tourney at 10:15am. Wanted to get into a good early morning tourney and this seemed liked the best deal and isn't a rebuy like the Trop. Wanted to know how this tournament plays, lots of regulars, lots of old folks? From what I have read the players there overall seem tough, should I give this one a go or just head over to the Borgata 11am 100+20 to try and crush the weekend crowd...which I am.

All feedback appreciated.

I always recommend the 1:15pm $68+$12 @ Harrah's for a few reasons:

A) It's pretty much the best deal as far as entry fee goes.

B) There's usually maybe 10 good players and the field is half old guys who get tired after 3 hours and are pretty much always dead money.

C) Their numbers are up now that the summer is in full swing(might have been the 1st of the month effect too though). Last Sunday was 54 players for a $3,672 prize pool which chops nicely at 5 or 6 players leaving you a few hours of sunlight left in your day. Last Sunday only went 12 rounds(~6:00pm) before a chop and the 10:15am "turbo" had barely finished an hour earlier.

Personally, I'd much rather play 54 people for a less money and half the time having a good chance of walking out with ~$500.

Last week I received 2 different 10x Rewards Credit Multipliers. On my online offers, the promotion reads:

Harrah's Resort Atlantic City
Offer Code: 18XYK00B0XG5
Expires: 09/08/09

Earn 10X Comp dollars on Saturday, August 22, 2009. Drop the coupon you receive in the mail at the drawing drum located at the Total Reward Center between 10am-9pm. Check your mailbox for more details.

Does anyone know whether this offer pertains to credits earned in the poker room as well or if it's specifically for slot play? If this offer is valid for poker, does this mean I'd be comped $20/hr playing 2/5NL? If someone could shed some light on this, I'd really appreciate it.

If it is same as Showboat and caesars... it is for poker also... but it is 10x base credits. At 1/2 base credits are $.30 per hour (+$.70 per hour for ur total $1 per hour) so 10x you would get $3.70 per hour. At 2/5 I believe you are looking at .60 per hour or 10x = 6, +1.4 =total $7.40 per hour.

Just as an update I called Total Rewards earlier today and they told me the promotion applies to slots and table games. When I asked whether it applied to poker or not, my representative called the poker room and was told it does not apply. I'm hoping I just got some inaccurate information.

I really don't want to have to give too much -EV action to the house (though some would say much of my poker action is -EV )

I played the 10:15am daily this Thursday. Started with 4 tables, and they also sat 7 alternates. They were really short dealers, and another table was dealt by someone they pulled from the pit. Terrible.

I was also amazed that at different points during the tourney, the list for $1/2nl was >17 or so players.

The tourney director when we arrived was completely humorless, and when we signed up it was not busy. This person was completely un-friendly, and not welcoming. The TD who took over after lunch time was similarly un-friendly.

Overall, not very impressed with the room, especially when we went less than 1 mile and had 2x the number of 1/2 or 2/5nl games from which to choose, competent dealers, lots of obvious food options and a more comfortable room.

I'm not sure I'd frequent the room over the Borgata.

I'm usually the last person to get on dealers (since I've been one), but I've definitely noticed a seriously inordinate amount of rudeness out of the Harrah's bunch in the past. Mistakes happen I know, but there's never a good reason to be a douche to players, especially out-of-towners throwing a party at 2/5.

The regulars that used to deal at Harrahs are now either absent (I hope not fired) or dealing other table games (I'm not going to mention any names). It's a real shame because Harrahs was really welcoming at one point. Might not have happened but it seems like they are waving the white flag versus the Borgata (in terms of the poker room).

I agree 100%. The dealers are becoming quite crappy. Anyone gonna be at Harrahs next week? I'll be down starting Sunday.

It is too bad. They had open tables, but maybe they are short dealers cause things early in summer were slow, and they've not adjusted to the uptick in business. Also, the room was comfortable, and easy access to a mens room, and fresh air on the inlet is nice at tourney break time.

Also, it was a rainy day, which may have boosted the crowds...

Yes, it is safe to walk to the Borgata - a wide open field makes hiding impossible. I've never had a problem other than weather - which, considering the pouring rain coming down at the moment - makes walking a problematic, not to mention soaking wet, experience.

No $20 trick is needed, from everything I've experienced there.

I pulled the $20 trick last week and got a Suite in the Atrium. Pretty fantastic considering I paid $59 for one night, two nights free.

Anyone interested in trying to start a pink chip game at Harrah's tomorrow or Thursday?
I will be there earning hours toward the freeroll, and it would be great to play some LHE. I know they have spread this game here before, but not for several months.

I like the Harrah's poker room. Usually I have no issues getting comped rooms there during the week and even some Friday's during the winter. I know some people hate the large print cards, but I enjoy them because I do not have to wear my glasses to see them.

I have to agree with some of the other posters obversations on the dealers. In my experiences, they are good at their job, they just always have to complain about something while they are in the box. I am not there often, but I never see the same dealers that I saw during a previous trip.

I'm one of those people. I have to lift them so high to see the suits that I can't use my normal method of peeking at the cards. It's enough to keep me from playing there.

Anyone else gonna be in town this weekend? I got an offer for a Coby MP3 Player but won't go down on Saturday unless it's worth it.

Two weeks ago, the mini digital camcorder was really nice, and coupled with free tickets to see A Bronx Tale and a nice dinner at McCormick and Schmidt's, it was well worth the trip.
