Re: Harrah's AC Thread

Hi-

I was thinking of heading up to AC for a bachelor party later this year. We were going to get a bunch of the guys to play the 10:15 tourney on Saturday and grab one of the Waterfront corner suites.

Does anyone have any insight into the 10:15 sat tourney? How hard is it to get in, any thoughts on the feasibility for 10 of us or so?

Second, we were thinking of just all hanging out in the suite for portions of the night (all 10 of us). Any insight into how the casino deals with guests in rooms? Also, thoughts on how the layout of that suite would be for 10 people hanging out?

Just guys eh? Right.

The tournament no problem.

Look up the suite, it is huge. 1225 square feet. Only two beds though.

Normally, how many 1/2 tables make it through the night? Coming up tomorrow night and was hoping to play through the night.

Re: Harrah's AC Thread

Well I have now played two profitable weeks at Harrah's Poker Room, and will likely not return. There is a major problem with most Harrah's properties that I have ever visited, and this one in AC personifies the issue beyond belief.

The way that these Seven Star *******s are allowed to bully the floor and dealers is beyond comprehension. I have watched over two 5 day stays as about six players literally threatened floor personel and dealers if they did not get their way about 25 times a day. Demanding decisons favorable to them. And basically letting the other players at the table know that there was nothing they could do because we didn't have enough card status.

The final straw was when one pathetic guy went as far as emailing (if he is to be believed, and certainly looked petty enough to have been telling the truth) about 7 people in the Harrah's organization because the floor had the AUDACITY to pick up his chips after about 40 complaints from the other players at the table (including one very vocal local who isnt 7 star) when he was gone over 1 1/2 hours. Yes there was a list. So he then gets put back at the top of the list due to his exhalted seven star status and is re-seated at the table when the next player leaves 10 minutes later. What does the crybaby do after he puts down his chips? You guessed it, he leaves again without playing a hand for another 30 minutes. After he sits, he proceeds to tell the table that he can take money off of the table to place horse bets if he wants to. Its a freaking NO LIMIT game, you can't take chips off the table to bet horses, or give your wife, or to keep from losing it. With the exception of tipping waitresses, the money STAYS on the table until you get up to leave. Got to love the different rules for the star status dickheads though, as he told me in no uncertain terms that he was a Seven Star Cardholder and could do any damn thing he wanted to do in that casino. I wonder if they let them bring their own dice to the craps table too?

This is why MGM owns the Harrah's poker rooms in Vegas. This is why the independents like Borgata, Venetian and Wynn always crush all of the other poker rooms. You want to treat high roller poker players with a degree of entitlement? We as poker players understand that, and will rarely take issue with it. But you want to tell us that some dumb **** who loses $100,000 a year playing craps and his sniveling son, are allowed to come into a poker room and bully every one of your employees and have them scared to make correct rulings and decisions for fear that the seven star degenerates might go run and tell their Mommy (Harra's Mgt) that they didn't get to feel special today, then I say Harrah's can kiss my ass.

The games are better accross the street. The people are better accross the street. And I don't have to watch casino employees embarassed and scared to say what needs to be said in these situations. If I acted 1/2 as bad in your poker room as these twits, I would be 86'd. But you let the seven star players whine like little girls (and GOD how they WHINE!!!) and always have to give them their way? And you have only empowered them and will continue to drive off people like me, who incidentally buy in for the max in the 2-5 games and play 15 hour sessions without a single complaint.

If I intended to return to Harrah's, I would probably write my own email to Harrah's Mgt to counter the misrepresentaions and lies that I am sure they are hearing from this 7 star dickhead. But I am not. And if the Poker Room Mgt gets smacked around because they don't have the balls to stand up to this biatch, I guess they will get what they deserve. If I worked at Harrah's in the Poker Room I would be damn sure I had a resume in Stan's hands over at the Borgata though. If for no other reason than self respect.

Re: Harrah's AC Thread

I was at the table when the events you write about regarding the one person occured. He was way out of line, in my opinion and the opinions of others at the table. So was his son, who seems to be more hot headed than is healthy, in my opinion.

I don't know what discussions he had with the management, or what was decided by them. I do know, from previous run-ins with him, that he is incredibly arrogant, self-centered, egotistical, and seemingly cares about nobody but himself. He is the only 7-Star that I've witnessed acting like this recently in the poker room, and I am wondering who else you saw.

Please do email Harrah's corporate and let them know about this. The poker room there is a nice one, and when someone is a problem, management (upper level management) needs to hear about this from players.

I'll be talking with the poker room management about this, and making sure that they know about your post here. I do appreciate your taking the time to make it.

I am also sorry that this has left you with such a bad impression of 7-Star players. I don't know who the others are that you are referring to.

You stated: "I have watched over two 5 day stays as about six players literally threatened floor personel and dealers if they did not get their way about 25 times a day."

Bullying should never be tolerated or allowed. Period. Regardless of who is trying to do it.

Who else/what incidents? I would appreciate knowing, because then corrective measures, perhaps, can be taken. If you would prefer to not post the details here, please do feel free to Private Message or email me.

Yes, I am a 7-Star - but that doesn't mean that I am entitled to special treatment at the table (and, other than being put on the top of a list when asking for a game, I don't get any.) No one should get special treatment at the table. Rulings should be based on poker rules in effect at the casino - not who's involved. Or what their player status is. Or who they know.

Most 7-Stars that I know are pretty unassuming, in fact. Often at the table with no one knowing their status (unless you catch a glimpse of the card.) More than one don't even want the other players to know about their having that card. After all, it doesn't mean anything other than that person spends a lot. Diamond cards are often shown and used to clock in. Or for food orders.

Please don't think ill of all of us, or of Harrah's, just because of the actions of one or a few. Although I can certainly understand why you think that way.

Thank you.

The Borgata is not independent. It is owned by MGM-Mirage. The Venetian is owned by your screen name, which you may already know.

I really do not like to post on other casino threads but i must correct the above information. Borgata is owned by both Boyd Gaming (my employer) and by MGM. Boyd Gaming runs the day to day business at the Borgata.

Re: Harrah's AC Thread

OK sport, I'll play along.

Borgata is PATIALLY owned by MGM, but in no way considered an MGM property as Bellagio, Mirage, MGM, Circus Circus, Aria, Luxor, Excalibur, New York New York or Monte Carlo are viewed. MGM dictates the action in those poker rooms and determines what games will be spread and at what limits based on an overall poker marketing strategy. They excersise no inluence in the Borgata poker room.

Venetian is owned by LVS, and as such is not considered part of Harrah's or MGM either. The poker room operates outside of the influence of other related poker rooms in the area, as it is the only LVS property in Vegas.

Thus the term and spirit of the word INDEPENDENT was used in my post.

Not sure if you are really as confused as you come across, or were exhibiting some of the charm that 2+2 posters are famous for. Regardless, I hope to have given you enough expanation to answer your post.

Get a Total Rewards card first -- you need it to enter the tournaments. Nothing worse than standing in line for 10 minutes only to have to go get a player's card and come back and stand in line.

I don't know about tomorrow specifically, but there's usually 3/6 and the 4/8 "mini-blind" ran occasionally, but with a long list.

Re: Harrah's AC Thread

Harrahs is quickly becoming my favorite place to play 1/2

It seems like weeknights between 5 pm and midnite are prime time to play against some VERY soft players.

I've logged quite a few hours in there recently and the freeroll tourny is more inspiration to keep logging them...

To the regulars, I'm the younger guy with dark hair always wearing a hoodie

Re: Harrah's AC Thread

This is my first time at Harrah's. I'm in my room right now and I would say it's pretty nice. We got in last night at about 8pm from central PA. We had a reservation for a harbour tower room. We asked if there were any upgrades and they put us in the watertower...I assume that is an upgrade.

Was too tired last night after driving, dinner, and doing the woman so I didn't make it down to the poker room...I did walk past it on my way to McCormicks(sp) which was pretty good. I should make it down tonight but I want to leave early tomorrow to beat the snowstorm. The pokerroom was packed at 930 pm. I don't know if there was a tournament on or what.

I'm going to call the frontdesk today and see if we can get comped for fri and sat night to wait out the storm. I figure the hotel is going to be pretty empty so it might be worth a shot.

Re: Harrah's AC Thread

Hey everyone, new to the thread and A.C. (Mohegan Sun is me and my girl usually end up). Don't know if you guys know about their current room promo (been going on since Jan 3rd) but once on their site if you go to the stay and play packages go to 2010 Room Offer package and room rates are $20.10 plus whatever taxes n what-not. Don't know if this has been posted before but thought i would throw it out there for the cheapskate in all of us. I will be down there the 8-10th if anyone is going down and wants to meet up and possibly show a newbie what to do around A.C.

P.S. The package is good through March 31 on select room and dates.

Re: Harrah's AC Thread

The thing about the 7stars member that was out of line is that they should have their 7stars revoked. 7stars is not just a club for people who blow a lot of money. There is actually some consideration of the person involved. I would say that complaints and management being berated should cause this person not to be a 7stars member much longer but then again $$$ does seem to talk with Harrahs in most cases.

Re: Harrah's AC Thread

Very disappointed in the service of an otherwise good quality poker room. I placed my name on the waiting list for 1-5 stud and was waiting at least three and a half hours for a table to open.
Got almost every excuse in the book from "We have no dealers to deal that game" to "We have to clear the name list for the other games before we open a stud table."
I would have been fine if they told me the real reason, which is that 1-5 stud does not generate as much money as the hold em tables. Instead there was a big **** you to the stud players. I'll take my poker business elsewhere.

Re: Harrah's AC Thread

I agree that you should be annoyed- not sure what the heck was going on at Harrahs yesterday- but it was a ZOO. Could it really be the Lindsey Lohan effect? lol or the Free magic show maybe?

The poker room was full to capactiy at one point- I think there may have been one table left they didn't open, but it was crazy crazy busy. When i got there around 3pm I had to wait an hour for 1-2 NL!!!! This is crazy!!! the 2-5 list was 30 deep and they had one table. This is crazy also! I remember seeing the long list for stud.
I do agree with their decision to open other NL Holdem tables first. How can you make 15 plays on the stud list happy first when you have 60 names on 1-2 and 2-5. I get it- and yes they probably make more $$$. It's just the nature of the beast.

Dealers were griping because they had to deal on Forced Mandatory Overtime. Some were on OT and dealing the tourny- no tips on OT sucks!

I just really think that being the BBJ was low at 80+ something,
and it's a Sat. in the winter, that they were not expecting all these people!!!

The floor was really nice as always- and hey they have to run their business a certian way, and sometimes demand overrides availability. I'm ok with it- but was dying with the wait too. It turned out to be very worth it for me- PSST- the games were very soft- nice !!!

How many players has Harrah's been getting for the $105+$20 deepstack Fridays @ 8:15? Sounds like the room has been packed recently. Maybe they get up to 70ish?
