Harrah's Resort (Atlantic City, NJ)

Original OP:

OK, thought it was time we had a Harrah's thread. I'm by no means a regular, but regular enough. I''m hoping all the other regs on here can step in and give some good room updates, BBJ updates, promos etc. Maybe we can even discuss what kind of comps we're getting etc. Action on different days of the week would be great, players, dealers, fights, etc. all the stuff we lovet to talk about anyway, just pertaining to harrahs AC !!!!

Thread FAQ (by Lovesantiques):

Welcome to the Harrah's Atlantic City thread!

This is where all the posts regarding poker at Harrah's Casino in Atlantic City should go.

Some basic information:

Harrah's has a poker room with 40 tables.

Daily cash games include:

1/2 NLHE
2/5 NLHE
2/4 LHE
2.50/5.00/7.50 Pink Chip Limit Hold'em
4/8 miniblind ($1 and $2 blinds, 4/8 betting structure) LHE
and the increasingly popular $7.50/$15.00 Pink Chip Omaha hi/low and Stud hi/low mixed game (1/2 hour of Omaha alternating with 1/2 hour of stud, both with 8 or better lows.)

Friday nights, and some Saturday nights, there is also a 5/10 NLHE game that has been going the past couple of weeks.

Currently, the 2/4 LHE game pays 10 tier credits per hour plus 50 cents an hour in comps. Should it ever go again, the 1-5 spread limit stud game also will pay this.

The 1/2 NLHE game, the 2.50/5.00/7.50 Pink Chip game, and the 4/8 miniblind game all pay 20 tier credits per hour plus $1 an hour in comps.

The 2/5 NLHE game along with the $7.50/$15.00 OE game pay 40 tier credits per hour plus $2 an hour in comps. Any games spread that are higher in limits than these would get the same comps and tier credits per hour.

There is a poker rate available for room nights, but it is on a first come first served as available basis. Ask at the podium as to the availability on any given night.

The poker room rates are:

Sunday through Thursday nights is $25 per night.
Friday night is $89
Saturday night is $169

5 hours of play is required.

The current tournament schedule is:

Sunday through Friday:

10:15am NLHE $85 + $15 buy in
1:15pm NLHE $85 + $15 buy in
8:15pm NLHE $85 + $15 buy in
Midnight NLHE $58 +$12 buy in

Please note that on Friday only the 8:15pm tournament is $105 + $20 buy in.

Saturday, the times are the same, but the buy in is $105 + $20 for the first 3, $58 + $12 for the midnight one.

Harrah's is also running satellite tournaments for entries into the WSOP main event. Please contact the room for specifics.

Current promotions are:

Play a minimum of 50 hours at any CET property in Atlantic City (Harrah's, Caesar's, Showboat, Bally's) and earn you way into the $50,000 freeroll on June 13.

On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday there is a bonus of $1 in comps (does not affect tier scores) for each hour played. This is for all games in the poker room.

Win a tournament, and get an entry into the special Tournament winner's freeroll. There will be a minimum of $10,000 given away each month.

Win a tournament in May, and the freeroll is on June 14th.
Win a tournament in June, and the freeroll is on July 12th.
Win a tournament in July, and the freeroll is on August 9th.
Win a tournament in August, and the freeroll is on September 13th.

Please note that this series of freerolls applies to all 4 Atlantic City CET properties, not just Harrah's. So everyone has lots of chances to win an entry each month.

There is a high hand bonus each day, ending at 6:00am the following morning. Whoever has the high hand for the day gets $200 in comps. If it is a royal flush (usually the case) any subsequent royal flush gets $50 in comps.

Harrah's is part of the combined bad beat jackpot, along with Caesar's, Bally's, and Showboat. As of 5/26/2011, it was at $247,756.50 and quad eights were the minimum hand to beat.

New restaurants are opening at Harrah's soon! Stay tuned for more details.

re: Harrah's AC Thread

Searched, I couldn't find that thread either.

Normally if I'm staying in AC, it's at Harrah's. Waterfront Tower FTW IMO. The poker room is very nice, very cozy so to speak. I think the only problem I do have with it is that their mega print cards need to be shrunk just like the Borgata but their poker chips beat the Borgata by a mile. I wish they'd have a few tables close to the poker room though. I have to walk a good distance before seeing a blackjack table.

Was just there a while ago, looking to go back this coming or next weekend.

Harrah's will never lose the big print cards. Compare your average Borgata table with Harrah's and you'll see why.

Harrah's is one of the only AC casinos I've never played at. Maybe I'll play there on my next trip, but how is the action mid-week? Do they have more than 3 1/2 NL tables on a weekday or is the room small and uncrowded.

If you are there at noon, the probably only have two at tables running, but they've had 6 or 7 1/2 NL games going most weekday evenings I have been there. Usually only one 2/5 game though.

I got the inside scoop. The big cards are gone as soon as they run out of the stock they have. I would also venture to say that Harrah's has the 2nd or 3rd youngest crowd in the city. The pool pulls the young'ins in.

I was there last weekend and and all I have to say to that is it looked like gerriatricville to me.

So, the Borgatta and what else are younger then?

(note this is not meant to be offensive, I'm genuinely surprised and curious having only been to harrah's and the borg.).

I would play at harrahs more if they got rid of the big cards, if your scoop is true, once they get smaller print on the cards, i will go there more often then not.

re: Harrah's AC Thread

Seriously. On the weekends it's slightly younger but I have yet to see many people from the pool come over to push the average age down. Although, since they added the ante to the 1-5 stud they only seem to get one going so that alone will drive down the average age of the room. I do like playing there but a lot of times you really have to change tables a lot to find a good game.

S2000Maniac: The cards there are in large print so you have to pull them up higher to see them. I don't understand what all the fuss is about. It makes it easier to read the cards. I can't image they ever get rid of them for the stud game unless there goal is to completely end that game.

Nice links, $6.50

The biggest problem with Harrah's cards is that you have to lift them half way off the table to see your suits.

re: Harrah's AC Thread

I'm a HUGE Harrah's fanboy. Other than Borgata, Harrah's is by far my favorite room. The TVs are the best (Caesar's is close but I'm a bigger fan of Harrah's), the regs tend to play their hands face up and weak, the comps at all Harrah's properties are the best, and they have the best game selection of all AC HET properties.

The big print cards are admittedly bad, but that's a small price to pay IMO. I hope to get out to Harrah's once more before the wife and I take our anniversary trip to Vegas 5/17.

They should keep the large indices but use four color decks.

I disagree about the comps since the only place to eat there now is the deli since they made the Waterfront places 2-1 comps.
