Your comp dollars will likely last longer than the pier stores . . . Cabbed over from Harrah's to Caesars a few weeks ago to catch some college football over at Game On. Shocked. I knew the Pier was not doing well, but was very surprised to see that place gone. Was one of my favorites in AC....

Just heard today that Reflections will be closing very soon, a new restaurant taking its place.

I also heard about the Pier closing down. Does anyone know what will take it's place? Does this mean ALL of the stores will be closed? I ask because I grabbed Starbucks there all the time before heading to Caesars for a long grind session.

Do you know what they plan to do with the space? I kind of assumed that with the Pool right outside, the area can get incredibly noisy and is just an annoyance for some of the people trying to eat there.

If there's one place that needs to be changed IMO, it should be Dos Caminos. Good food but there's no way Mexican food costs that much (like 3X prices of most nice Mexican restaurants).

I know it's a bit early but anyone with a WSOP Circuit Event schedule in December, please do post any details or lack thereof.

All I heard was that it was going to be another coffee shop type place, but supposedly better, managed by the same people who run one of the other restairants in Harrah's, but I can't recall which one.

unrelated to poker question:
If i only have the basic gold Total rewards card am i unable to ride the shuttle? In the winter i wanna easily get from the trump/trop to get to the other end without walking
It seems to state you have to one of the 3 better cards? Also can someone else come even without the card or do they just not check?

I'ld recommend taking the Jitney. For one thing, the shuttles only go to the 4 CET properties - none of which are near the Trop.

For another, the shuttle doesn't run very often.

The whole Pier isn't closing, at least as of now, but Game On and Trinity Irish Pub both closed.

newbie question-

I did the new player sign up and did a couple hundos of slot play and a couple hours of poker, and now I have over 300 TR points. I heard the slots earn you a point for every $5 you run through, so these points couldn't be worth $1 each.

How much are they worth, and where are they 1 for 1 versus 2 for 1?

I did check the OP FAQ, this information was not there.

New sign up promotion is nice, if you haven't been, definitely use it.

You can't ride the free shuttle without a card higher than the basic gold (I believe you need a diamond) unless you are staying in one of the CET hotels, and in my experience they do check. I stayed at Harrah's last year on a comp and wasn't told that you actually need a copy of your room bill to ride the shuttle, just your key isn't enough.

The signs are Harrah's are awful, or at least were awful when I was there--for starters, they had a couple maps of the premises that were completely out of date. I forget where I was trying to go, but the map led me to a dead end because they'd renovated but hadn't changed the map. Regarding the shuttle, the annoying thing was that the signs I saw didn't mention needing a copy of your room bill, but on the other side of the sign, it said you needed a diamond card or your room bill to ride the shuttle, and the driver pointed out the other side of that sign and basically implied that I was an idiot for not reading the sign, even though the other side of the sign said something completely different. So I had to walk all the way back to my room, get the bill, and then wait for the next shuttle. The hassle wasn't really worth it and I probably should have just paid the $2 for the jitney.

It's way less than that. I believe it depends on the type of machine, but for 9/6 Jacks or Better video poker, it's $10 coin in for 1 point, and 100 points for $1 comps, so if those particular slots give you $5 coin in for 1 point, it would be $500 coin in for 100 points, and $1 in comps.

I would say Marina gets the slight edge. They are both on the older side in the room department.

I disagree. Harbor is right next to the poker room.

Can't disagree, when you put it that way.

Although by that logic, the Waterfront rooms are the furthest away from the poker room, and those rooms do not suck.

Harbour Rooms are right near the poker room but a mile away from the front desk & swimming pool. The rooms are not bad, they're the cheapest room rate out of the whole AC Caesars family, and Harrah's Marina is a stone's throw away from Borgata.

Caesars is not walking distance from Harrah's. You're gonna wanna take a cab or Jitney.

Depending on your definition of walking distance it really isn't that bad -- I walk everywhere and would have no problem walking from Harrah's to Caesar's, the problem is that I don't think there are sidewalks for a good part of the walk, and I'm not sure how you can get from one to the other without involving Brigantine Blvd, which I'm pretty sure doesn't have sidewalks (or if it does, I never noticed.)

If they give you Room 615 make sure you decline it and ask for another room. I had that room once and it was the worst. First thing I did was call the front desk to make sure they knew that I had nothing to with the following... Shower head was so loose I had to hold it in place so the water would actually hit me, the door on the dresser that hides the refrigerator was missing, the refrigerator door it self was only hinged in one place, the lamp shade was destroyed, and 2 lightbulbs were defective and when I say defective I mean broken. Not to mention the mold build up on the bathroom ceiling, the wood chips next to the fridge (probably the remnants from when the door was ripped off), I had 2 queen beds in the room however one of the beds was on a king sized frame so you had to avoid the shin breaking metal that stuck out, and after taking a shower the water would just not drain, it literally took hours for the tub to completely drain. Other then that though the room was fine for drinking and sleeping in.

Well if all I earned (300+ points) was the equivalent of a little over $3 in comps, after several hours of poker and several hundred dollars through the slots, then Harrahs really doesn't want my business. I did enough action that I would have earned about $8 in comps at Borgata.

Of course if they were to come through with some free room offers, then I could combine those with my Borgata free room offers, and I wouldn't care about the comps, I'd play to qualify for the rooms. Let's see. I'd really like some Friday night stays, but I think that is too much to hope for.
