Was playing at Harrah's today. There were 2 tables of 1/2 NL going for a couple of hours. At the end (3:10pm or so) we had one table going. Lots of fun, and everyone would have happily kept on playing if the casino wasn't shutting down.

Edited to add: It certainly didn't hurt the game at all that 2 dealers from Parx - great people and dealers but total fish at the table - were spewing chips around. (Just kidding guys - given the banter at the table, I couldn't resist this.)

Not sure what the 8:00pm shut down time I'm hearing about refers to. Maybe when all employees have to be out? As it was, ours just might have been the last poker table in play today anywhere in A.C. Small brag, I suppose.

Why should a little thing like a hurricane stop poker games??

Hopefully, the damage to Harrah's and all of the rest of the casinos will be minimal, and it will be business as ususal on Monday.

Please stay safe, everyone! This storm is supposed to be the worst in decades.

Lee

Competing poker room gives poker players at least 2 free nights a week. When will Harrahs poker room management wake up and start treating the players right?

A lot of players get free room nights. But, CET has really been tightening up on this of late. It's a shame, because they are only hurting themselves by doing this.

That Saturday Night rate is a huge insult. Can't one w/o a non-CET card holder reserve a room for like $25-30 more on a weekend rate? Sheesh.

coming for Wednesday and Thursday 2nd week of October. I hear the 2/5 game only gets going in the evening? What about the pink chip game? Looking to play either of these. Thanks

The pink chip game usually starts around 11:00 or so in the am. Sometimes earlier or later, depending on when folk show up.

The 2/5 game starts early on the weekends (sometimes runs all night). During the week, it all depends on when people show up to play. Sometimes early pm, sometimes evening.

Great! 11 am's not too bad. Thanks for the info, Lee. Looking forward to some mixed game action, as well as hopefully meeting some 2p2ers. I'm a morning person so I'll find something to occupy myself before the game gets going, ha.

Any update on the post-labor day poker rates for weekdays? for instance, this tuesday-thursday

Also, how many hours of play is needed for the poker rate? Is there any chance of complimentary rooms and if so, after how many hours of play?

I usually count on comped rooms at the borgata but i'm not sure if they'll hook me up during the big ol poker open.

I asked about this last week; I was told you have to have some history of play and play at least 5 hours per night at the poker rate. The new rate is $25 Sunday-Thursday. I can't recall exactly what the weekend rates were because they were more than I would be willing to pay, but they were something around $85 Friday and $175 Saturday.

Does 1/2 PLO ever run here?

Has anyone fixed the TVs in the "tourney side"? Has anyone thought of maybe moving the tournaments back over to the main side of the room? That way people could see the TVs and have a more fun atmosphere. Playing 4 table tourneys isolated with no TVs is boooooring. I think more part-timers would be inclined to play if there was a more festive atmosphere.

Yes, but only on very rare occassions.

Hey, just a couple questions if anyone has some free time to answer i'd appreciate it. Im going up to AC for the borgata fall open and then again for the WSOP-C at harrahs. I was planning on staying at harrahs for both trips (Havent been to AC in 2 years but for some reason I still get discounts when I type in my TR card online, wierd but ill take it.) Just wondering if the rooms are decent and clean, and is it worth upgrading to maybe a waterfront premium room if my gf comes with me, although if she does i may to just pay the extra to go to caesars. And would harrahs be the better option over ballys and showboat? thanks

sorry for the sloppy writing style lol

I stayed at the tower closest to the poker room and it was gross. Smelled like an old lady had been in there smoking since 1974. I'd upgrade to the waterfront for sure.

Waterfront upgrade is probably unnecessary. I stayed at the Marina tower for a while during the Borgata Open, probably the better of the cheap options. Pretty standard and nothing gross about it. I got 3 nights per week comped there too, which made it the best deal I could get.

Atrium has suites that are nice, the other towers are ok - but might not have room safes. Waterfront is nice - you're choice.

You can walk (if it isn't raining) to Borgata from Harrah's - much more convenient than Bally's or Showboat.

Hey Lee, Diamond card holder here and normally I get the Waterfront and/or comped room at Harrah's Resort (Gone as low as Bayview but never Harbor). Never stayed in the Atirum Suites. I'm also not the begging or asking type. Do you think I need to ask them in order to get a room in the Atrium Suites?

Thanks for all the the feedback . I didn't even see the atrium suite as an option online? Just the waterfront corner suite which was ridiculous price. I guess if I go by myself ill stay in the Marina deluxe for $20/night and if my gf comes ill get waterfront premium for $50/night. Thank again

As I Diamond, lately, I just book the cheapest available on the weekends (usually Harbour) and have been consistently getting upgraded to Waterfront (usually, at check in, they ask, "where do you want to go?").

As for Atrium, I got a room there once -- booked WF and they "upgraded me" to the Atrium Suites. Frankly, I'd rather just have a regular room at waterfront. The Atrium Suites are much more dated -- "living room" with wood floors, couch, table and chairs and flat screen TV . . . Oldish bathroom . . . separate bedroom (still on OK choice, though).

Of course, lately, seems like every saturday there is a party in the room next to me at Waterfront (I f*cken HATE the Pool crowd). So, if you actually want some rest, perhaps Atrium is best , , ,

I don't know - but it can never hurt to ask. I prefer the Atrium suites simply because they are closer to the poker room, and I don't get the noise from the Pool (which can be quite noticeable even up on the 30th+ floor.)

Yeah I know what you mean Lee. I do politely ask for a high room most of the time if living in the WF. I'll be there this late October, maybe I'll say hi and finally figure out who you are...

Tekkaman - I hadn't realizd that the Atrium was restricted to 7-Stars. Maybe during busy weekends, season, only? Too many rooms there for it to be that way all the time, I would think.

sixfiftySNGchk - I'm easy to find. Playing NL mostly, 1/2 or 2/5 at Harrah's, 1/3 or (rarely) 2/5 at Bally's. I should be there most weeks/weekends. Probably more at Bally's than Harrah's for a while, 'cause I need a lot more Monopoly pieces to fill out my gameboard.

Should add that it also depends on where the GF wants to play....

Even as a Diamond card holder, i feel that the card is basically worthless. Ok sorry free parking is always good though.
