I can't speak to the really small buy ins, but anything from the $350 and larger is pretty standard.

Small tourneys are notorious for high rake. Not much money to make trying to play a $75

Does this place ever get PLO running?

And how popular is Multi Action Poker? The concept sounds awesome but I could see recreational players being slow/confused.

Rarely do you see PLO here. Once or twice a year, you will see a 2/5 PLO go for about a week and then it dies.

They removed one MAP table a couple of weeks ago. The one still remaining gets 1/2 NLHE action a couple times a week for a couple of hours.

I've been down here playing at Pompano for the past three days, and the amount of dealer mistakes and general cluelessness I've seen in my time here has been absolutely unreal.

Did I come at a bad time, or does this room just have the ****tiest dealers in the State or Florida?

Question to fellow Florida players. Facing a bet on the turn and playing deep stake vs opponent. I get the clock call with about a minute thinking. floor comes over and ask dealer if I had enough time dealer says differently. after the hand I ask the floor if a one minute in a cash games is enough time and I'm told yes.

I want to ask a players to get any objective opinion?

Opinions are not objective. The rule is objective. It states you have one minute from the time someone calls the clock and the countdown starts. That is how you are required to play at that room, regardless of opinions.

I'd rate them as better than Tampa, so you've either had some bad luck or we have different criteria.

Yes thank you. I was asking players how much time they will pass to call the clock on some one? I believe the rule is there has to be a reasonable amount of time to pass for some to be able to claim the clock to be called.

in a Cash game what is it 20 sec, 3 min, more?

I don't know if they are the worst in the state.

There are some -- not many -- excellent dealers in the room. There are some who are decent but are bored and lazy and make many mistakes from inattention. There are three or four whose only goal is to go as fast as they possibly can and cut as many corners as they can, resulting in frequent mistakes that only tend to slow them down. There are a couple or three truly awful dealers, but those tend to disappear pretty quickly.

The worst problem with the dealers is actually a management problem. They waste so much time monkeying with their banks -- they don't enforce the rule that first buyin needs to be done at the cage; they have to stop and count their banks about every other hour; they continually stop to color up chips for players and then have to stop and make change a few hands later for those chips that they just colored up. Etc. It's horrible. I bet they lose five hands per hour because they are always stopping to fool around with their banks.

Yeah, it's super tilting to be stuck in a game and have to sit there waiting for the dealer to count down the bank. That's the other major gripe I have with Pompano so far. But other than that, I have to say I do like the room and the action has been great.

What is the best/ cheapest hotel in the area? It doesn't need to be nice, but I need small dogs to be allowed and not in the hood as I'll be leaving my GF there while I play the tournament tomorrow and hopefully Wed.

Before I moved here, when I needed a hotel that would accept dogs, I stayed at the LaQuinta on Cypress Creek Road:

http://www.laquintafortlauderdalecypresscreek.com/

It's 2 miles from Isle Casino, an easy 6-7 minute drive up Powerline Road. The rooms are inexpensive (about $79 to $119 depending on room type) and comfortable. Because the chain is dog-friendly, I often think more people stay with dogs than don't.

The area around the hotel is a business district with office buildings and complexes. Not a very touristy area with things to do in the immediate area, but I'd consider it a pretty safe area. There is a shopping center nearby with a movie theater and a good number of chain restaurants.

+1 to those who mentioned the dealers spending way too much time dealing with their banks. It borders on absurdity sometimes.

I think his question was if it is reasonable for someone to call the clock on someone after a minute or less of thinking. I don't think he was asking if having a minute once the clock is called is fair.

Yes, the poster (oldmangrimis13) clarified that in his next post.

IMO, any player has the right to call the clock on any player at any time. The dealer would then call the floor (which gives more time for action), and the floor then can determine if enough time has passed to initiate a clock, based on house rules.

Most players know better than to call a clock after just a minute or less because this whole process usually takes more time than just waiting for the thinking player to act. Most of the time when someone calls a clock in a minute or less it is to make a point of protest against a player that too often takes a long time to act. I suspect this is the case in this instance with oldmangrimis13.

Thank everyone for your opinion. In this case, the player was calling the clock fast to get a derided effect. I play fast and that why I and don't often take to long. it was the first time in a month that I took a minute to think. I also agree calling clock with less then a min will couse the hand to last longer most of the time.

Floormen need to be FLOORMEN, not podium guys, or...podium men..

Played both tourneys this weekend, Sunday night $135 bounty, and Monday morning disaster...

It was a disaster as whoever did the scheduling had no idea that they needed extra dealers..

What I do not understand is why the floormen do not watch the games more often,
vs standing at the podium doing nothing...
And then, when a decision has to be made, they listen to 15 stories from 15 differnet people..
When, if they were watching the game, decision would be instantaneous...

Nighttime tourneys.. they need to watch the games vs standing at the podium,..
I understand that prev round 8, that there may be buyins, other duties, but after that, WATCH the game...

We were down to final 12, 2 tables, 6 players each, mistakes happen...then the long discussion vs what
the dealers saw, the players saw, the SHOT taker did...Disgrace...
I am NOT the table captain, do not want the job... its your job and you are standing at the podium..
BULL****

Is same reason why the tourneys at Hard Rock had issues...WATCH the game...PLEASE
