I believe MS explains this but the 2k is the main, while the 10k is a tournament for a site they partnered with to promote as well as coincide with a bikini contest or something.

Spoiler:
Bikini contest was cancelled but the girls will still be there

Just like everywhere else in these parts -- a 1/2 jackpot game. Occasionally, a 2/4 gets off the ground, mostly populated by people waiting for a seat at 4/8 LO8.

This is pretty ridiculous. Are there any games that don't have the jackpot drop or that are time games with no jackpot?
Thanks.

You can I believe request a no jackpot table, but the table must agree and then of course you are not eligible for promotions. They did that here at the Tampa horsetrack with 2/5 and a woman hit a spade royal that would have been worth 6k and she was irate. At 1/2 most players are looking for high hands and promotions so I don't think you would get a.game with no jackpot drop off. Higher limits you have a better chance than at 1/1-2/5.

2$ drop is the standard in florida. Fish love the promotions so it became impossible for any casinos to compete by having a 1$ drop and less promos.

People follow the jackpots here, they don't give a rat's ass that the rakes are outrageous, they just go wiggy over those jackpot promotions. That's all they ever talk about. You cannot go five minutes at any table without people talking about the jackpots in one way or another.

For instance, a couple or three months ago the Isle became the last of the South Florida rooms to raise their jackpot drop to $2. Part of that was to give a high-hand promotion to Omaha tables three days a week. On those three days, each week, they would get four or five Omaha tables going strong for the jackpot hours. Nearly all of those tables would break at the end of the jackpot promotion for the day.

This month, the Isle dropped the Omaha jackpot promotion, and the Omaha games have all but dried up. People you would see every day vanished from sight this month when they found out there would be no Omaha high hands this month.

Curiously, they still drop $2 per hand on the jackpot rake for a lame royal flush promotion that no one cares about.

Is there any way to enforce a no-spectators policy at the tables? I constantly have to ask people to stop standing directly over my shoulder. Sometimes, you get two or three people standing right behind me talking to the player next to me or just to each other, and they talk right in my ear while I'm trying to play or they keep bumping into my chair. It's very annoying and distracting. It doesn't just happen every once in awhile, but once or twice an hour in the evenings and on the weekends.

Def more of an issue here than any other venue. Just not a lot of space upstairs

No jackpot promotions at all for Omaha games this month. Holdem tables get high hands and a Sunday drawing for hitting a full house, but we get zip. Not even the lame royal flush/steel wheel bonus we got last month.

Yet we're still getting hit with the $2 jackpot drop. What's the deal with that? If you're going to drop $2 per pot, put on some promotions to revive the nearly dead 10/20 games. If you're not going to do any promotions, kill the $2 drop so the 4/8 game is at least marginally playable.

That's incorrect information Steel Wheel promo and Royal promo is still going and the JP is still rising daily

"JP is still rising daily" -- what does that mean, and what difference does it make if it's doing nothing to promote the games?

SW/Royal promo is not on the website, and a floor person did indeed say today that there is no promo this month. So if I was misinformed, I'm sorry for passing on the misinformation. But it's still a lame promo that no one cares about and does not do much to prop up the games.

Why on earth was the high hand promo killed when it was doing such a great job of promoting the games? I keep hearing from people that you ran out of money. If so, that was pretty bad mismanagement of funds. And how can you not have money now to run decent promotions when you've been dropping $2 per pot for over a month now? And if you ran out of money, why are you wasting what you have on that lame SW/Royal jackpot?

Other Omaha players besides me were upset about this today. We feel like the red-headed stepchildren who are getting screwed. The perception is that the Isle isn't interested in keeping LO8 alive, especially when the good momentum was killed.

He's referring to the 42k Omaha bad beat jackpot that keeps growing.

How about running the high hand promotion for just the 10-20 game? The 4-8 game goes off anyway.

But that isn't funded by the second dollar of the $2 drop, is it? I thought the point of bumping the drop to $2 was to fund promotions to keep regulars from defecting to the competition. And my point is that at least for the O/8 games, this is the second straight month that they're failing to do that.

I promise you that the bad beat jackpot and the royal flush promotion do not attract people to the O/8 tables. The high-hand promotions that ran for a couple of months turned players out in droves, and most of those players have disappeared since the high-hand promotion was dropped. Yet I still see those yellow chips falling into the jackpot slot when I sit in a 4/8 game waiting on the off-chance that we can get a 10/20 going.

Mike, I heard last night that the isle will be reducing the bad beat to a fixed 25k. Is that true? If so, when will that change go into effect and what kind of other promos do you envision to distribute the extra jackpot $?

That is true. It's fixed at 25K for NL and 10K for Limit. We also are freezing the Omaha BB at 5K once the current BB hits.

The Omaha High Hands will start Tuesday. We will have them hourly for 12 hours a day on Tue, Thu, and Sat.

The new High Hand promotion for Oct-Nov will start on the 24th. Can't share it yet, but stay tuned.

How come there's a change for the bad beat jackpot? Not that I've ever won one ... is there still a $2 BBJ drop?

This is amazing, and not in a good way. So you mean to tell me that you are taking in a minimum of $9k a day in jackpot money?
