Any hotel recommendations for the area? Can you get a box in the poker room easily for a week stay or do they have deposit accounts?

If you want a upper end room then they have a poker rate at Isle to stay at Westin for $89 which is probably pretty nice.
I usually stay about 5 miles N of there in deerfield beach. right off I95 Best Western for around $60 for a suite.

I'll be at the Isle regularly this week. I stopped by Sunday afternoon and played in the $40 turbo SnG. Awful rake of course, 20%. The dealer add on, 500 chips for $5, is worth it of course to increase your starting stack by 50%.I like playing in these. I grind low stakes super turbos on FT, and I feel I have sufficient mathematical and situational (utility) knowledge to have an edge, but the rake is too high. Any chance we could get enough interest to play $100 turbos with only a 10% rake?

I can imagine the $2/5 NL games that run are the overall toughest. I'm thinking it'd be smarter to take a shot at $5/$10.

I notice there isn't a $1/$3 game going, which I read there would be. Does that mean the $1/$2NL game has a $300 buy-in?

Also, is the area for the most part safe at night? I heard about all the problems at the Seminole Hard Rock, and I had a bad experience today in broad daylight heading west on Atlantic Blvd. Random old, semi-homeless looking guy wearing a reflector vest, who I thought was one of those guys who sells the newspaper or maybe something like flowers, came up to my cracked window and said he needed a beer and a ride to a 7-11. I was like wtf you want a beer, and he said yeah k thanks and walked over to the passenger side of my car. He was a second away from opening the door before I locked it and said sorry I can't. He then yelled the F word and fortunately the light turned green.

Do you Floridians think that your convict Republican Governor elect can do something about these people? Wow there's such a disparity of wealth, socio-economic status, and education in South Florida.

1/2nl is $100-$300. You are safe while on casino property, I dont know anything about off property. I was just in my car on my way to hotel.

Welcome to Florida...Concealed carry state for a reason. I suggest you put a few sessions in at the gun range if you plan on being here more often.

It has been nice playing at the Isle. I was there from 4:30 - 6:30 in a $2/$5NL game. I noticed an interest list for a $100 turbo SnG. If the rake is only 10% vs the 20% in the $40s, I'll play it. There's always discussion about high rake, and I'm of the "let them pay it as long as they know what they're getting" philosophy. I stay away because I know I can't beat the rake.

Also, being 20 until next month it sucks not being able to receive any comp credit. Do you think if I played in a $2/5 game for 8 hours that I could ask a floor manager for a $5 coupon at the bake shop? lol

I might make another midnight to 3am run.

GL to all you Floridians. See some of you in Vegas.

Last time I was down that way Mike Smith came in at like 4am and put a nice little spread together for the players on Friday night. Kinda cool of him to get breakfast for everyone, but I don't know if they still do that or not.

How old do you have to be to play there?

18 to play poker

I'll take this time to comment on a previous post from someone who commented on being carded often at 26. Upstairs in the poker room, they never card anyone. Everywhere else (i.e. around the slots) they card everyone. They have high tech ID scanners and everything. I have no idea why they are so paranoid and why protecting underage players from the slots is so much more important than the poker room, race track, or even bar.

Great poker room. This is the closest room to where I stay on the beach in Pompano, but I'd make this my regular room if I lived equidistant from the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood.

I can assure you that if you look under 18, you will get asked for ID in the poker room

If you plan to put in a session, please let the brush know and they will log you in. We can then give you a manual comp if you're under 21.

Thanks

Thanks Mike! I meant that if one looks 21, he / she isn't getting carded upstairs. Someone who looks 30 is getting carded downstairs.

No problem.

Our company policy is that anyone that looks under 30 will be asked for ID. Underaged gaming is taken very seriously by the Isle. As you can imagine, a slot license is much more valuable than a license to have a poker room.

I was in Florida last week on vacation and visited the Isle on Thursday and Friday. No one asked for my ID*. Should I be insulted?

Small sample, but one of the best cardrooms I've been in. Staff was great and you can't beat having the whole casino smoke-free.

Haha nice Didace. Mike, Vinny, and everyone else at the Isle poker room run a first class, Vegas style room.

Since they don't close between now and Monday at 3am, I'm sure I'll be back at least one more time before I go home.

I am not greatly familiar with the area but I feel safe when I go. I went to Philly and A/C for the first time a couple of months ago and I def feel safer in Pompano. (maybe its just me)

I also rented an apartment for the summer in vegas that was located about a mile east of the Venetian. I felt fine then, but looking back now, i dont know what I was thinking.

So I am not sure if my opinion matters now.

Pompano Beach is a safe place. Along the beach is especially nice and affluent. Like I mentioned before, there is a huge disparity of wealth. Search this thread for box info. The main casino cage downstairs can take care of you much like a Vegas style cage.

Is the information on the spreadsheet correct that the Isle frequently gets 4-8/10-20 O8? I'll be down that way in a couple weeks.

There is a 4/8 Omaha Hight Low 8 game every day. It starts about 10:30 am. The 10/20 sometimes runs at 7 pm Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Good Luck
