There's a SEPTA bus stop right outside of the parking garage.

i know you can't smoke at DP. its a major plus in its favor. i was asking about Harrah's and how closer the smoking area is to the poker room. will i be able to avoid second-hand smoke? will i be bathing in smoke all night? guess i'll find out sunday or monday when i go.

Took a peak down at the poker room and it looks great. Really looking forward to Sunday. I think you'll have to get up early to get a quick seat. I'll be spending most of my time there because they give you $1 an hour for comps and more for the bigger games. DP only gives you .20 an hour and I can only use the points at DP. I can use the Harrah's points in AC and Vegas. As long as the action is great in Chester (I'm sure it will be) I'll be there after work.

note, DP has cheaper rake at $4+$1bbj, so it makes up for the comp disparity

+1

Enjoy paying $1 extra per pot to get $.75/hour more in comps.

Yes. If you play for 8 hours, you would get 8 comp dollars. At the same time, if you win 16 pots, in that 8 hours, it would cost you $16 in additional rake. I think I will be much happier with the lower rake & I'll buy my own food.

Agreed. I understand where some are coming from with the whole HET tier credits and comps that are earned at Chester can be used in Vegas thing. However, in the long term, you are going to be paying more to get those comps then if you were not comped at all and paid for rooms and meals out of your pocket.

It is insignificant to the recreational player that plays a couple hours a month, and they truly do not care. However, for the player that grinds out a lot of hours a month, it adds up. At 25 hands an hour, that is an extra $25 per hour coming off the table that you now can not get from the other players.

It should not, but it tilts me to hear that people are leaving Delaware Park $4+1 rake to play at Harrah's Chester $5+1 rake, because they only got comped $.20/hour and HET Chester will comp them $1/hour. (By the way, I know that rate is standard for Atlantic City, but has that comp rate even been confirmed for Chester yet?)

I am guessing that few if any players will be using those factors to pick their room in light of game selection and travel distance (which is it's own significant cost).

Rake and comp will be a factor for me. However rake is way way way more important.

However there are also other factors, such as the number of games, how the place is run as well as the straddle rules, which i really like in DP.

Here is my breakdown:

I live in South Philly, so it is an extra 25 miles each way to DP then Chester say $6 cost for additonal gas

I will Valet 95% of the time at DP because its too far to walk tipping the guy $1 to take the car and retrieve = $6 Garage parking at Harrahs is free and you are right near the poker room.

So right there it costs $12 more to goto DP.

If I play 8 Hours at Chester and take down 2 pots an hour that is $16 more in rake.

You gain .80/Hour playing at Chester which is $6.40 in comps

DP = $10.40 ($12 cost - 1.60 comps) Total Cost
Chester = $8.00($16 additional rake cost - $8.00 Comps) Total Cost

Time is also money, so 25 minute drive each way has some cost to it.

IF the games are the same I will goto Chester.

I totally understand how for some it would be more logical to play at Chester then Delaware Park. Location being a huge one, type of games, etc. If you are closer to the Philadelphia, it makes no sense to drive an additional 30 minutes to Delaware when Chester and soon Parx will be a shorter drive. It was just tilting me that people that live closer to Delaware were saying they were going to go to Chester because Chester gave more comps per hour.

Yes, that''s great math. Extra dollar in each pot raked at Chester than at Del Park to get that .80 an hour comp. Works for every thrid grader.

I park through the tunnel side and walk in. Your 5.00 savings means you save yourself 150 yard walk at DP cause that's all it is to the poker room from my car and it's not like your not going to walk in Chester. I walk further at the Borgata. You can math it anyway you like, but why do you think all those REALLY nice Vegas rooms harrah's runs (Ceasars) are so empty. Any decent player who grinds out smaller limit and NL games knows that a 5.00 dollar rake is too high.

Has anyone confirmed that Harrah's is comping 1.00 per hour in this room or are you simply expecting it cause that what they do in AC. They pay higher taxes in PA then NJ and I'm not at all sure they will pay that. This is a corporation and they're not going to comp higher than other pa rooms.

If you take Kirkwood Hwy (rt 2) to the DP entrance, (left at the Hess gas station), the parking lot is around 150 - 200 yards from the poker room. It's almost as long as if you use valet parking in front of the casino & walk all the way to the poker room. & it's free!!http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/im...lies/laugh.gif

Harrahs has the best comps im the country. The dollar per hour is only the tip of the iceberg. If you want to go to Vegas Harrahs will give you a room for 5 days comped.I play poker and only poker the comps i get from Harrahs is worth giving them my play.I know 3 guys that are 7 stars just from playing poker.

Exactly. I get free rooms offered on the weekends all the time from Caesars in AC. Received 4 nights at Caesars when I went to Vegas and free money for the Mrs. to play with. The company really knows how to treat their customers. I'll spend the extra dollar to pull in a pot since its a lot closer to me and playing 2/5 NL and 5/10 NL that extra dollar isn't noticed. I'll get a lot more hours in now since I don't have to drive to AC. I think Parx is charging the same amount for their rake.

There is no formula, at least not one that is public. However if you will play at their properties every once in a while, i assure you that u will get offers from them, including free rooms.

Harrahs has by far the most generous offer they give their players.

I live in S. Philly too. Distance-wise, DP is much closer to an AC trip than Chester. So it's not even close. I don't know why DP would ever enter the equation. Now Parx is reasonable enough to make a longer commute if it's a better room/game than Harrah's.

I live in South Philly and I'll be checking both Chester and Parx... I think there may be better table selection at Parx though... we shall see.
