Is there a consensus "best way" to get to Harrah's Chester from 476? I'm not familiar with the area whatsoever and am anxious not to get lost in Chester, PA.

From SB Blue Route (476), take I-95 north to the first exit (Ridley Park - Stewart Avenue). Turn right and go to dead end (Rt. 291) and turn right again. Harrah's is about 2 miles on your left.

Gracias, thanks guys. Will try to check out the room tomorrow night for some $1/2 action. Hopefully the wait lists won't be too bad on the first Friday night for table games.

10/20 started around 3 today and was almost converted to 15/30 at around 9 except for one player. They were also starting a 20/40 up that needed say two more to go.

what do people usually buy in for at the 10/20 game?

BBJ hit on the table next to me tonight... 5555 v. 4444.
Jackpot was Just under 27k iirc.

Interesting the split was 50/25 and 25 for the field.

Another good night.

I may be wrong but I think Bally's (Atlantic city) is the only casino that pays the WHOLE poker room when a bbj hits....

Was there yesterday afternoon for a few hours. Was nice to see a familiar floor person from Showboat.

Overall, I felt the room was well run, especially considering they've been open < a week.

I experienced 2 inconsistencies that should be addressed (and I'm sure they will):

- buying in (or rebuying) from the rack: is it allowed? I saw a couple dealers take cash from players and give them chips. They then folded the cash in half and stuck it in the rack where extra decks of cards usually go. At one point a chip runner came by, took the cash from the dealer, then brought back that many chips. This seems like a huge liability for the house, but from a players standpoint, I guess it's fine.

- posting: the dealers just seem inexperienced with the whole concept. Some new players had to post, some didn't. Some people who'd missed their blinds had to just post the BB, others had to post the BB and SB. I think I even saw someone who had missed their blinds come back in as the BB and the dealer made them throw a SB into the pot. Weird.

Now for the positives:

- the free drink station - I love it!

- the room isn't as cramped as other posters had made it seem. Yes, it's tight, but not unbearably so.

- the competition: on my 4th hand, I watched a player call a PSB on a flop of 9 6 2 with 55 Weeeeeee! The same player then went AI blind for 40BB from UTG before leaving.

Cliffs: lots of potential, give them a few weeks to sort everything out. Will return.

DP splits the room on their mega and the table on their mini. They have two bbj paid out for the 1.00 drop. Mini is a's full of j's beaten by quads (started out seeded at 10,000 but it's been hit like four times and is only 1400) and mega is quad 8's beaten. the 8's drop a number every week to 2's. Started out quad j's and dropped to 8's.

Assuming a relatively full room of 15 of 20 tables holdem (mixed games don't count) at present level of 58,000, the field split would be about 29,000 loser of the hand, 14,500 winner of the hand like 100 bucks each if there are 150 in the room. I still like that split since I've never been at the BBJ hit table anyway. You do not even have to be seated or in a hand to get the room payment, all you need is to be at a table, chips in front and not have missed a blind. No missed blind button, and your in. They give you a special chip and once the BBJ hit and the when certified by the eye, you exchange it, so the games are not held up.

Ive experienced huge wait times between 6pm and 10pm the list stays about 45 plus for 1/2 and about 12 pp for every other game, they were quick to open new tables, I got there at 7 with 69 people on the list (1/2) and waited for half a hour not too bad considering dp was hours.

That is impressive... And awesome.
Q do they have $2 or $3 chips for 8-16 or 9-18?

Was in the "field" at the BBJ table. $830 IIRC. Not too shabby to hit the BBJ on my first trip there. Would've been nice to hit $250k, but I'll take it.

From what I can gather, you need to show up at 6:15 or 8:15 to get on a table. 8:15 being after the 8pm shift arrives. The two hours in between is just a 40 person 1/2 list that barely moves.

positives

room is wayyyyy too small, makes it impossible for players and dealers to move between tables. theyre gonna need to expand. dude who designed this room was a complete moron.

rake drop box is a lawsuit waiting to happen. if u sit in the 10 seat, u better wear padding on your left arm, cause u will get hit when dealer puts rake in. horrible design. dude who thought of that needs a career change.

no chiprunners. they have dealers, and im sure theyre thrilled with this, chiprunning, because harrahs failed to hire chiprunners, or the runners they hired didnt show up. either way, the chiprunning is a joke, huge waits at the window to buy chips.

95% of the dealers suck. i know they hired a bunch of inexperienced dealers, which in my mind was a mistake. pray the autoshuffler doesnt break, i couldnt take watching these dealers try to shuffle, dont know how they passed auditions.

Positives

not many, but i will say they spread a lot of games, 1-2, 2-5, 5-10nl, 10-20, 20-40 limit, havent seen an omaha h/l or PLO yet, 10-20 om8or better is my game, hope they get 1 soon.

location- 10 minutes from my condo in center city, cant beat it. i will be back

Horrible!

Its too small. I am not a big guy and was still cramped. My legs couldn't stretch out, so even though I was slightly up, I left my table b/c it was too tight.

Dealers are in reverse, forget enjoyment, watching them deal is painful! The floor is just as bad-- no clue!

My dealer , a chick from Philly, dark long hair, was so terrible the players were calling the winning hand.....and slow maybe 8 hands in a half hour.

AC is worth the driv,m so is Delaware Park.

The DP room is nice, roomy, good mgt....dealers very efficient!

This assessment is way overboard. The dealers suck, but to maek me drive an hour instead of 10 minutes? Not even close.

And the tables are not that cramped at all. It's not roomy, but the assessment above makes it sound like you are eating at the little table at thanksgiving, and that's not the case at all.

This is commonplace at most poker rooms. A few only let you rebuy from chip runners (and you will "play behind" until they come back with your chips), but most will cash you in from the tray, and the chip runners instead replenish the tray periodically. In the latter case, you generally see the chip runner leave a few marker chips on the felt indicating how much cash they took off, which they retrieve once they drop the chips off and the dealer counts it, but this isn't universal, and I don't remember seeing the Chester room using them.
Harrah's Philadelphia (Chester, PA) Quote

I am told PA law prohibits dropping cash.

The dealers tray has something like $2440 in it at all times. First chip buy is supposed to be from the cage and subsequent buys can be from the dealer. Dealer doesn't drop cash from subsequent chip buys however and instead holds cash until runner services the dealer at which time they settle up the cash for chips.

This seems to be how they are trying to do it most recently. Early on it was common for dealers to call for chip runners to service players directly which was a clustermess but the intent seems to be to have the runners service the dealers periodically.

I have seen experienced dealers "bend the rules" and sell chips directly to new players on occasion...usually small stacks and this is the exception.

So 1st buy is from the cage, additional buys can be from the dealer.

BTW, I plan to head over around 6:00 - 6:30ish tonight (probably will be packed). If anyone wants to introduce themselves or grab a beer or something I will be rocking the White Randall Cunningham throwback Jersey .
