Mother's Restaurant is just a couple blocks on Poydras (away from the river) and has great food. Not sure about hours though. Probably not 24 but amazing if you can get it.

Drago's in the Hilton across the street has great charred oysters but can be a touch pricey.

What day/night is best to play a tournament here? By best I mean in terms
Of structure and number of players? Thanks

I talked to the poker room and he said they have one 5 days a week but I didn't know if anyone actually showed up to play in them

Calling up the poker room and asking specific questions is asking a little much in the customer service department

Is it still the case that no poker room rate exists? Just wondering if there's been a change, since I might head into town for Jazzfest.

The hotel is located right across the street from the casino in downtown nola, which is in one of the highest-demand lodging areas in the U.S., so they can charge insane prices year-round. Unfortunately, that means no poker room rate.

This is not entirely true. Total Rewards offers deals to stay on the property all the time. I've stayed there probably 4 or 5 times and never paid more than $50 for my room. These have all been during the week FWIW.

Had a great time at the 4/8/12 Omaha High game! It started off as a 4/8/12 half and half holdem/omaha. After I sat for three hands we all decided to play straight Omaha. Never played Limit Omaha High before... I love it!!!!

won a pot...

Now I'm on fire!

Man I wish I could play this game every day!

Hey so for girlfriend reasons I may be moving to NOLA in the next six months or so wondering if the 2/5 games are still as juicy as people said earlier in this thread. Have a steady job that I can take with me to NOLA but wouldn't mind some extra income if I can get it. Haven't played in a while so more than likely I will be scouting the games myself to see if I can even beat a game anymore. I used to beat the games at the Beau in Biloxi for a decent hourly. Anyone familiar with the 2/5 games there know if the ones in NOLA are similar?

I also won't have a car, would it be moronic to bike from uptown? I'm moderately familiar with the city and feel like it wouldn't be that big a deal, although im not sure.

I biked in from the Garden District with no problems. They have bike racks outside the casino.

As for the games, I'll let the regulars tell you about the 2/5; I only played 1/2.

I only ever play 1/2 so I can't comment on the 2/5 games or PLO, but I can say they finally got rid of the time rake and have gone back to a pot rake: 5% up to 5$ max if I remember correctly.

Games on the weekends can be nice moneymakers after about 10pm.

They still take $1.00 for bad beat too.

I have been playing 2/5 there a 4-5 times per month for the past year. It is very reg heavy, after a few sessions this will be evident.
