Anyone know how their Saturday tourney is?

I'm wondering mostly about the buy-in and the average number of runners.

In terms of the structure or the way they are organized?

So you are saying you spend more time, money, and hassle to go elsewhere over ONE DOLLAR PER HOUR? Really?

The way I see it Harrah's NO gives out a great comp with the parking validation which to me is worth way more than $1/hr for some crappy casino food. Parking in Downtown NO can get redonkulous anywhere from $5-15/hr depending on what's going on and if you are planning on doing more than gambling it's by far the best comp around.

Ok then you have been stuck in New Orleans way to long and don't get out very much. Almost every other harrahs property gives free parking. The 1 to 2 an hour comp when you play for a living is huge, more important is the Harrahs tier credits for the bigger games most harrahs propertis give close to 60 tier credits per hour. If you keep your tier credits up you keep getting free room offers for all Harrahs properties as well as free flights. Obviously if you are a traveling poker player this is HUGE. New Orleans doesn't do any of it and that is why so many people end up in Tunica when they would much rather be in New Orleans. Tunica and Atlantic City take care of their poker players. Hell even the Bellagio gives 2hour comps for the bigger games and they used to be the worst not to mention they do it with only having a $5.00 rake per/30 mins at 20/40.

FWIW I don't live in NOLA. I don't even like Harrah's NO for poker but as a guy who goes there often for fun that parking validation can literally save me hundreds during a busy weekend where the other lots are price gouging. For me that definitely beats getting $7 off of a $20 buffet I wouldn't pay $5 for. Most if not all casinos provide free parking but I can't think of any casino where parking is at such a premium.

Anyway, if you are complaining about more than $1 or $2/hr then I understand. I guess I don't get out much but I never remember getting more than the standard $1/hr for comps in any of the 20 or so Casinos I've played poker in. But most of these were not owned by mega companies like Caesars or MGM either. Do they REALLY fly you in and put you up in a hotel on poker play alone?

I guess the thing about Harrah's NO is that they really don't need your business. It's easily the busiest casino I've ever been in. They are in the middle of a major tourist destination, have a hotel that's always booked solid at $400/night, and best of all they are legally protected from ever having any competition thanks to an old crooked Governor.

Hey noles...which Harrah's properties besides Atlantic City give tier credits?

The ones in Vegas do, as does Harrah's in Chester. I'm not sure about elsewhere, but I know that at least some do.

How many tier credits does the Chester's Harrah's give?

I believe that it is 20 per hour across the board - all games. I'm not 100% positive on this though.

So I guess I have to wait until I get to NO to find out the buy-in and the number of players for the Sat. tourney??

The buy-in for the saturday tourney is 100+20+optional 10 dealer toke, but its not really optional because its for like 30% more chips.

Last time i played i think we had 60 ppl.

1/2 games continue to be very profitable.

I thought CET N.O. was going to start giving tier points, they was going to do it on the table.

I sat down at a 1/2 table for a couple three hours on a weeknight recently. Three to five solid players at the table, one guy that went through a thousand or more in an hour, and short stacks drifting through constantly mostly putting dead money in the pots. Five hundred or more an hour of dead money while I was at the table. Came a little light to play there myself and ran card dead so I had to be careful not to be some of that dead money myself!

are there any alternatives to harrahs in nola? river boats for instance?

why wouldn't you want to play at harrah's? Some of the easiest 1/2 ever, not to mention great location.

I mean think about it; you have ppl a few blocks away on Bourbon St. then coming into the casino completely hammered just dumping their money into the game. It almost feels illegal.

1 tier credit - all that is needed to preserve your comps and qualify New Orleans as a "Destination" (although for the latter you probably should check with the Total Rewards desk and see if there is a special kiosk you need to swipe at as well) - can be earned by putting $5 through any slot machine - or $10 through any video poker machine.

The machine will show you when you have earned the 1 tier credit. Then you can cash out the balance.

Probably less expensive than table games. Almost certainly so, in fact. Especially since it is real hard to know when one has earned tier credits at the tables - or how many.

first thing i did was win 20 bucks out of a slot machine for my tier credit, allthough i did spend a liltime at the pai gaw table.

poker went decent, liked my table, plenty of action. i doubled up near the end of my session. place was super busy, the floor seemed to be lost and confused.
