How often do the spread Omaha Hi-Low? If they do, at what limits?
Thanks

action is crazy. it's almost like a shift change around 10pm. The drunks stop by for a few hours after happy hour. Then about 12-1 the "been out" guys show up with their sunglasses and kinda bombed.

lots of lagtards, very passive game. Guys will easily stack off with TPTK all day in a limped pot.

the 1-2 game will have up to 5k on the table sometimes, easily.

the local grinders are easy to spot (i am a wannabe local grinder) then there are some locals that are known atm's. it's almost like a list of bad movie characters in there sometimes.

Thanks! I'll be wearing a Washington Nationals hat if anyone wants to say hi.

The other day i heard them call a half and half game. Not sure if it's still running.

I plan on playing either friday and/or saturday afternoon depending on the weather.

Not sure on the omaha but i'll ask and post when i am there.

per HALF hour, no?

Yes per half hour, my mistake in my earlier post.

Played two long sessions friday night at 1/2. The table i was at wasn't the best table, 4-5 regulars, 2 nits and 1-2 fish. I should have changed tables as the one behind us was wild.

They were spreading all sorts of games: 4/8 half and half, a 15-30 limit game was starting and some other things.

If you guys have questions, call them! They usually have 2-3 people working the desk up there.

Played 1/2 on Saturday. 4-5 regs, 1 semi-nit (me) and a rotating cast of 3-4 tourists/fish. Walked away with an $1100+ profit after 8 hours. Simple strategy: see a lot of cheap flops, bet big hands strong, get paid. Never bluff.

Looking to get up with some more 2+2ers while in Harrahs New Orleans... 2/5 and 5/10 nl cash player here - 27 years old.... screwed over in June over the UB cheating scandal and built a bankroll from Florida and MS cash games... I'm coming over with a few other friends who are pretty fun to play with... should be a good table...

I figure that we could set up a game with our own stakes if there are enough of us... if not, forget em' we'll drink and grind for 24 plus hours... pm me if you are in the area and wanna get up or shoot me an email.

This is the formula for wins in FL dog tracks... I changed my game completely to cater to those donkeys - limp poker pf - destroy and punish post flop... BIG BET RIVER with stones = PAYOFF WIZZARDS WEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I got back a couple of days ago from New Orleans. Had a great time.

Finally played some poker on Monday, before leaving (too busy having fun before then.)

They have an interesting game there. It is 1/2 Hold 'em and 1/2 Omaha high only. Every orbit the game changes, and the button is made especially for this game. "Omaha" on one side, "Hold 'em" on the other. Thus it's easy for new dealers to tell what the game is when they come into the box.

The betting is fixed limit. $4 preflop, $8 on the flop, and $12 for the turn and river. Fun game, with good action. I left up a bit over $200 after 4 hours of play.

No comps or tier credits, and the rake is $5 + $1 for the BBJ. There are special BBJs for stud and Omaha, but I didn't see any stud games going on while I was there. Wasn't looking over the weekeend though, so some might have occured.

Going there around the 14th for spring break. Is it still filled with drunken tourists once Mardi Gras is over?

New Orleans is filled with drunken tourists year round. The only time you can avoid them is early evening when they're napping off the previous night so they can start again at 10pm.

I'm planning a trip to New Orleans and expect to drop in at Harrah's, but I was a bit concerned by the comments in this thread about a time charge. So I sent them an email and got this response.

Quote:
The rake for Limit games in the room is 10% of the pot up to $5.00. The No-Limit and Pot Limit games are a time rake of $6.00 per player /half hour.

At this time we do not award any TR points to our players. We are trying to figure out the best individual reward conditional to each player. As we learn about this, it is possible that we come up with a non-traditional reward personalized to your loyalty. Please know that we do offer at this time free garage parking with 30 minutes of tracked play, even during special events.
I'm glad to hear that limit games have a rake and not a time charge. I play relatively tight, and I calculated at my last session that I would have paid between 1.5x and 2x as much in time charge than was actually raked out of pots I won.

Bummer about no comps.

Don't know where the above quote is from, but I hope it's wrong. As it is, Harrah's in New Orleans might be the only (and certainly one of the very few) Caesar's Entertainment properties that doesn't give comps and tier credits for playing poker.

The idea that not all players would get the same comps and tier credits for playing the same games is going to cause lots of ill will, with no benefits that I can see.

I, and many others, travel around. Loyal to CET, but often at properties away from home just for the variety, if nothing else. Comps/tier credits should be the same for everyone at the table. Why should loyal CET players get less, just because we're not local to that one casino?

To whomever from Harrah's New Orleans might be reading this - please do start paying out comps and tier credits for poker. Even if it is just the same $1 per hour in comps and 28 tier credits per hour (regardless of game) that Vegas casinos pay out.

Thank you.

I wasn't clear? The quote is an email from Harrah's New Orleans.

Harvey's (Tahoe) also doesn't give comps in the poker room, or at least didn't last time I was there several months ago.

Gonna be in NOLA for a week or so coming up, mostly to drink, eat and see music, but would like to play some poker. Does a 5/10NL game run regularly? 10/25? Are games uncapped?

If you like Zydeco music, I can highly recommend seeing the Bonoffs at the Old Opera House on Bourbon Street. Some of the happiest music I've ever heard.

They play there Thursday through Sunday, starting around 1:00 pm (I think) until around 8 or so.

I know, not poker advice - but I love their music!

This is the sole reason I don't play in NO. If they ever get this right I will spend at least a month a year playing 8 hours a day there since it is closer and easier to get to for me than Vegas. So if anybody from NO does actually read this and care about your business realize I am just one of hundreds that avoid your room because of this.

I am going to be passing through NO in June and staying a night. What is the action for 1/2 on a Tuesday night?

I can play from 8:00 pm until around 10:00 or 11:00 am the next morning. Is it worth playing that long of a session on a Tuesday?

Thanks

So I guess 2/5 is the biggest regular game? Does it run every day? Oh and hide your money and wives, I am coming to your town now to rape and pillage for 72 hours.
