Does Harrah's New Orleans have a hotel poker rate for cash games?

No. No food comps either. You get free parking for 24hrs, which in downtown New Orleans is worth a little something.

Now only if they offered an armed escort to your car. The Big Easy is quite a dangerous place, especially coming out of a casino late at night after a winning session.

I love the drunk action around Mardi Gras time.... the chips are flying into the pot. Just survive the suckouts

This is not true, if you even remotely know your way around.

Any local can give you directions that keep you out of trouble areas. In the tourist areas, you're no more likely to run into random violence than in any other big city.

Ok, so New Orleans has a big crime rate doesn't mean that downtown is dangerous. They don't tolerate any type of crime, no matter how little, in their tourist areas. There are cops on every corner of Bourbon and it's cross streets along with cops patroling Canal all day and night. Harrahs is SUPER safe along with almost any area that's well lit downtown. Just don't wander off somewhere dark and you'll be fine.

There is a huge difference between the tourist area, downtown and the rest of New Orleans. Coming from the airport once on a air-porter and a guy talked the bus driver into letting him off half way. At night, in this neighbourhood, it looked like a scene out of a war movie, scared the heck out of me.

But wandering all over the french quarter, drunk as a skunk, having a ball and I have never had any trouble. The same around the hotel, no problems at all, not even beggers around.

Me and some buddies will be down there this weekend. Can anyone tell me what games they're spreading right now? We all play nl, but I'd rather play lhe (bigger than 3/6) if they have it.

Just don't walk around the French Quarter at 1am with your wallet out (especially Bourbon Street). You can't be worried about that sort of thing.

If you play for long enough with your Harrah's membership card you get free meal vouchers.

Thanks for the advice re: the non-existent poker rate.

When I was there in June, there was 6-7 on a list for 6/12, but it never went.

New Orleans is dangerous in a lot of places, but the Harrah's parking lot is not one of them.

Single white female returning home safely from yet another trip to NOLA that contained NO acts of violence.

As I have posted previously in the threads about Harrahs NOLA, there are places in NOLA that I would not go even carrying concealed, but those are also places that I would not have been stupid enough to venture into alone at night (and quite possibly not even escorted) pre-Katrina.

NO is like any other big city in the world. you avoid certain places.

Harrahs is not in one of these areas. i've walked between harrahs and bourbon street and bourbon street and my hotel late at night many times, with no problems.

mostly encounter tourists and groups of other fun-loving folks.

stick to main well-lit streets & you'll be fine.

Especially considering you never even have to touch the street to get there.

I go there, mostly because of family, three to four times a year since Harrah's NO opened. I've never had any problem going from the casino to the Harrah's parking garages. When I leave, usually early morning, there's rarely even anyone around on the elevator or parking floor area. You can always valet park as well. I beleive Diamond members get it free (but double check that, they may have boosted that requirement).

You should be careful walking around the FQ, however. Pickpockets especially are rampant around holidays and festivals. No need to be paranoid just try to walk with groups, avoid alleys, typical common sense stuff...

What games are they spreading at Harrah's? I'll be there next week and would like to play some plo/8, plo, or stud.

The wife and I are planning a trip down to NOLA this spring - what kind of action can I expect at Harrah's?

I'm probably gonna play $1-2 NL, but wouldn't mind a little LHE either. Any insight on what games they are typically spreading during the week? Waits for games on the weekend?

I'll be there in one month for a week and expect to spend all of my non-tradeshow hours at the limit poker tables there. Any regulars know what limits they usually have running? I'd probably be most interested in limit 4/8 with kill; rake?
