uptown is pretty big, depends on which end of St. Charles you're talking about. if you're in the lower garden district, you're an easy bike from the casino, no problem (if biking is your thing).

if you're all the way down on the other side of carrolton, like around the maple leaf somewhere, that's a whole different sack of potatoes. from there, during the summer especially, when it will be hot as balls every day for at least 4 months straight, you will definitely be a soaking, sweaty mess by the time you get to harrah's.

pretty much everywhere uptown is close to a streetcar line, definitely check that out as an alternate option if you are too far to bike, it's too hot, bike gets stolen, etc.

Debating moving back home to Nola area, been away in the Military. I've read thru the thread, I can't find any dates or anything, are they taking a % of the rake every pot or are they doing the half hour deal. Also, if anyone in the area knows anyone looking for a roomate that isn't going to charge a left testicle for a room i'd be willing to work something out. Family is from Gonzales area and I don't want to be so close they can bug the hell outa me everyday but close enough to go eat on Sunday's

Any suggestions for hotels the week prior to Super Bowl (1/28-2/3) that aren't $300/night? Maybe a town 15-20 away? I'd imagine the action here would be sick that week.

They have a TON of 1/2 NL, but for some reason New Orleanians HATE (as in, actively despise) all split pot games... so no, there is no O8. As has been referenced in this post a few times, however, we play limit Omaha high daily. Most days it's just 4-8-12, but on Tuesdays and Fridays a 15/30 limit Omaha high game has also been spread historically. Now, I've heard the game has been kinda week lately, and I haven't been home for a while to check it out for myself, but that game is CRAZY.

It plays like a 30/60 and the must-move is HEAVEN. Beware of the squeeze plays-collusion-signalling that sometimes goes on in the main game amongst regulars, however. It's not prevalent, but it does occur.

GL, and laissez les bon temps rouler, y'all! XOXO

How will the action be during Super Bowl weekend?

Probably slow. Nothing but jackpot grinders IMO.

Are the 1/2 games on the weekdays nearly as good on the weekends? I was thinking of trying after work from about 6pm-11 or 12. I play pretty tight so I either need a lot of time or a loose table to make any money. I just started last weekend and was happy to see no one was exaggerating about how many drunk tourists there are at every table. I cant believe I waited so long to quit limit.

I can see this thread doesn't get much traffic but I was hoping someone might be able to answer this before I head down Sunday morning.

Is it mostly regs at night during the week or are there lots of drunk tourists as well. I prefer H/L games but I know they don't spread them. Would like to play Omaha/LHE but not if it is just a bunch of rocks playing.

Hey Thakid,
Just started playing live no limit last month. Harrah's has been good to me so far at the 1-2 stakes. Tons of bad players and only a few regs per table. I only have 40 hours at the tables so far (lol sample size) but I have only been at one marginally non profitable table in my estimation. The rest have been really good. I have only been on weekends though. Any thoughts on weekdays by comparison? I saw they have some nice drawings on Mon and Tue. Also, how is the 2-5 game there?

Thanks. Only there Sun to Wed. That is why I was asking about fish vs. rock regs during the week. I realize that some of the regs can be fish too. It drive them nuts to see non regs win

Is the 4-4-8-12 HE/O game fishy too?

Got back from my trip last night.
No need to ever bluff in this room. Tried to make a dew moves but no one EVER folds.
Wait for your good hands and just pound the pot.
Had 3 for 3 winning sessions doing this. Mostly regs at the table.
Good Luck

Just got back from a 5-day bachelor party in NO, first time there. Hit Harrah's twice. Although this clearly isn't a 2p2 favorite based on this thread's level of traffic, I liked this room a lot. Easy to get to from our Bourbon Street hotel (12 minute walk), minimal wait time to get onto a table, great 1/2 action. Friend played in a super deep 2/5 games.

Saw what appeared to be a lot of regs both at my table and in the room in general, but games were ultra-soft nonetheless. Top pair = stone cold nuts to 6/10 at all times. Limp/raised AA to $55 and managed to get a limp/call from some creepy old man.

Drink wait times were a little rough.

Agree with the above, not much of a need to make moves in the 1/2, although was told 3-betting light was a necessity in the deeper 2/5 game.

headed to NO next thursday - normally play on the east coast - is 2/5 the biggest NL game? Do they ever have PLO?
Harrah's New Orleans (New Orleans, LA) Quote

Occasional plo and 5/10nl i believe. But as ive mentioned, the 2/5 plays INCREDIBLY deep, loose, and aggresive. Not really any need for bigger blinds the way this game plays.

What's the point of having an email address listed on the Bravo app if they're never going to respond to any emails?? Love the action in the room but the service has always been horrible imo

Max is big stack. No clue of min but my guess is 200$. Basically it would b all in with a c-bet otf the way this game plays pre

WHAT?!?! This would be pretty tough to accomplish outside of the occasional time. I play 5/5 NL and 5/10 NL and I rarely see that much money on those tables! I need to make a trip to NO!!!
