I am heading out to Tahoe next weekend (I'll be there Saturday-Monday) staying at Harrah's and was just wondering if anyone who has been there has any advice. Which of the tournaments are worth playing, what is the level of players at the different cash games, etc. Please also feel free to let me know if any surrounding casinos have good cash games/tournies as I'll have access to a car. I appreciate any advice, thanks in advance!

Watch out for the dealers and floors - a very reg-friendly casino.

I have also noticed it to be regs all over. That's why I'm going to Reno on friday

I had a much better experience at Montbleu across the street.

I haven't played any tournies there, but Harvey's (owned by Harrah's) is the place with the poker room. It is across US 50 from Harrah's and connected by an underground tunnel.

They usually spread 3-6 limit and 2-3 no-limit ($300 max). IME, the games have been good when there are tourists around, but yes, there are a lot of locals and they and the dealers all know each other. You'll know straightaway who is a local and who isn't.

CSC, does Montbleu get any games? The couple of times I've been through there, the room wasn't even open.

Harvey's is your best bet overall imo.

That being said, all three poker rooms in South Lake Tahoe (Lakeside Inn, Montbleu, Harvey's) have Friday night tournaments, which are the biggest of the week in that area. Harvey's and Montbleu have a ~$100-$120 buy in tourney on Friday's around 6 PM iirc. The Lakeside casino has one during that same time frame for ~$60 buy in with $5 bounties on each player.

Your best bet by far is playing at Harvey's Friday night tourney and their cash games the remainder of the week(end). For the most part, all other daily or nightly tourneys anywhere in South Lake are turbo format with a horrible structure.

Montbleu is almost all reg. locals when they do get a cash game going most nights. I'm not sure if it's still running but as of a few months ago they had a Sunday night mixed game fwiw.

Lakeside is a tiny 3 table room and worthless so don't waste your time.

A lot of the regs aren't that special, though, so don't over-credit that as a con against playing here.
