I heard that the guy that had the losing bad beat hand is a dealer at GVC so I'm sure he probably is going to hook up the dealer on the side that dealt the bad beat

I was at GVC Wed night and overheard our dealer say tthat the dealer who dealt BBJP was a female dealer who formerly worked at GVC.

--- Exactly, you're not a poker dealer. So your opinion on the the tipping matter holds no validity to actual poker dealers who make their living working for tips. Poker dealers don't "think they are entitled" to anything. HOWEVER, when you literally hit the damn lottery and are handed 400k, yeah, they probably expect to actually get tipped.

Also, "dealt one hand of poker and made 3k"? Are you aware of how the bad beat works? Are you aware tthat at Harrah's Casino, the poker dealers took the bad beat jackpot dollar out of every pot for almost 4 years? This means that the dealers dealt hundreds of thousands of hands in order to build that bad beat jackpot up to 800k. And you think 3k being split between all the dealers in the room is a reasonable tip?

Jesus. Those poor dealers having to rake an extra dollar above and beyond the usual... How do they keep showing up for their job? Is it just so that, when the BBJ hits, they expect a share of $40K to land in their laps because the players feel they've put the time in?
If this is the case, I clearly need to be dealing on my spare time because it's the ultimate freeroll.

1. I didn't say it was extra work to take out the dollar form each pot. I stated that it wasn't "one hand of poker" that was dealt for the bad beat to hit. It took hundreds of thousands of hands (or more, I didn't do exact math..) to build the jackpot up to what it was.
And 2. I'm not sure where you got 40k from. The bad beat hit for 800k. And yes, the dealers DO expect to get tipped from an 800k jackpot.

At the end of the day the BBJP is money the player put in minus any fees if any the casino charged to manage the funds along with the $7 rake or whatever it is currently up to. IMO everyone is free to choose if they want to tip or not tip. The dealers like wait staff know up front it's a position that is usually tipped. If they don't like it, I am sure there is other work in the casino or area.

I hit a BBJP at the Harrahs in STL a few years back. The jackpot was $126k and it was 6 handed if I recall. The locals all wanted to tip a much higher percentage than the out of towners. When I woke up the next day, I am glad I did not give in and tipped what I thought was a fair amount and went on my way.

Sounds like entitlement to me.

Recent update bump:

Doesn't look like PLO runs regularly (if at all?) anymore. 1/2 (50-200) and 1/3 (100-500) NLHE seem to be the staple games.

Staff is generally friendly, action is variable depending on lineup/time of day, and the water/coffee station in the back is a nice touch.

I have played here a dozen or so times in 2018 (different times of day/different days of the week) and have literally seen the same 3-5 people every time. Anyone know if this property employs prop players? Is this something they would disclose if I asked management?

Either way congrats to everyone who got a piece of it.
Not to burst your bubble. But $782K was not the largest in 2018 much less ever.

As to tips, meh. Yes dealer should get something. Of course dealer can expect or desire whatever. But player decided and personally should I ever hear a dealer express they “deserve” x amount guess how much they are not getting from me
