I think I am going to make the trip this weekend to check out the action. Is the rake still 10% capped at $5? And what comp system did they end up implementing? Good food at the table or restaurant in the casino?

Thanks,

may see some of you tonight this weekend. I will most likely have a Steelers jacket on my chair.

Rake is the same.
Comps for poker suck. standard.
Brio, next door to poker room, is best place to eat at the casino.

Any recommendations for a rental for two adults and two dogs during the WSOP? My husband would be up there for purely recreational purposes.

Thanks

any reports on the games this last weekend? Did the PLO run again Friday-Sunday? Did the PLO run again last Wednesday?

Looks like Cherokee Microtel charges $25 per night for pets, up to a max of $75 per stay. I have stayed at some other small hotels nearby that did not allow pets at all, so that might be a good choice. Your husband may want to research which Smoky Mountain National Park trails allow pets (not all do).

You guys are great. The $75 cap on pet fees is a really good feature and it does not look like they have a pet weight limit.

Ideally we would like a more campy/cabin type set up, but that could definitely work.

Nice to know the parks do have some trails specifically for dogs, we wont take them off leash so that is not a problem.

Are there any dirt bike/motorcycle trails that rent out bikes?

Thanks again

Michelle

Re: Live cards

Has there been any talk with the new tables being equipped with the Bravo system (dealers insta-swipe you in and the games/wait list available as an app)? That would be amazing. But if not, I hope there is at least a way to accurately swipe in to earn comps as before.

Just a thought, I feel that the room is currently too small unless they really do away with about half the e-tables.

Yes, PLO ran Wednesday,Thursday,Friday. The Saturday game ran into Sunday until about 630-700pm before it broke. About 15-17k on table. Couple of 3K+ stacks, most everyone else 1K+. couple of short stackers. Game was playing Sat-Sun with a mandatory straddle. Average pot when I sat was $380.

From the rumors I've heard there is only going to be 5 live tables. 2/5 and 5/10. None of the dealers seemed eager to go for the training. It's on your own time and you have to pay for it.

As noted above, they are not going to start out with that many live tables, so I don't think they need to remove half of the PokerPro tables. Since this is a Harrah's/Ceasars property, I think they will figure out how to handle the comps on the live tables. Should be about 3 weeks or less.

Planning on possibly doing an internship over the summer in Charlotte. Is this the only casino in NC? Are there any big casinos close by that are out of state? Your input is greatly appreciated.

Harrah's Cherokee is your only option if you want something that's reasonably close.

Other then Cherokee, that is about 3 hours from Charlotte. You have Jacksonville, FL 5.5 hours away and West Virginia 4 hours away. On a side note. Ive heard a lot of people taking about Jacksonville and the games there. I have not heard much about West Virginia in a few years.

quick trip report from this weekend

the plo game is really growing, I think it ran from Friday night until Sunday about 2 pm and it morphed from a 1-2-4 game into a 2-5 game sometime Saturday night. There were several times when the pot average (over the previous hour) was over 800, the lowest I ever saw it was 340 and still the table averaged about 35 hands per hour. multiple 4-7k stacks were built and passed around the table.

The 1-2 nlhe games continue to average 7-10 tables at peak and a minimum of 2 tables all weekend (at like 6 am)

and this weekend was ridiculous bad weather wise in fact at least one exit from the parking lot was blocked because the roads were so bad. crazy place, if you are in the area and debating going because of the non live dealers (like I did stupidly for the last year) go check it out, you may be pissed that you havent done so sooner *(like me)

Am I the only one that's not expecting great things from the upcoming WSOP-C? I have been looking forward to this event for months but there seems to be little to no buzz about it or much advertisment on it. The limited amount of live cash game tables, lack of a history of running live events, it just has me worried of a very low turnout. Anyone disagree and think this will be on par with even the average WSOP-C stops?
