Phones are frowned upon at the tables but not heavily enforced. I generally backed my seat up a few feet to text people, since it was tedious to walk to the rail. Nobody seemed to take issue with this. Comps are sparing, as are comps for any poker room. Unless you plan to live nearby and play daily, you might get a sandwich.

Since its all electronic, all of your hours are logged automatically though, so you don't have to worry about showing the floor your card.

Its about 150 hours live to upgrade your card, I think once you get the higher up cards and play a good bit its easier to get rooms. You won't get much with the gold card though. If floor sees you using your phone theyll tell you to get up, I generally used it under the table. Ultimately ya the comps are ****ing awful.

Not just heat, but banned also, from what I heard.

1) Agree 100% on putting peoples jobs in jeopardy, just don't do it it's bad karma if nothing else.

2) I was discussing my own screen name (and saying who someone he might of thought was me). Even if I wasn't talking about myself I don't see why it would be poor manner to discuss other players online. It's done in every other thread.

3) I think table strategy talk goes without saying, and many people already mentioned that you should speak up if you hear people potentially influencing the action in the hand.

4) The biggest edge you will ever have is when another player thinks he has an edge on you when he doesn't. Most of the players at Harrah's think they are exponentially better than they are. Many of the players live would probably struggle to be break even at 10nl online. I can't speak for weekdays but the weekend games are pretty easily beatable by a solid tag for 30$+ an hour. The only reason it would be hard for a smaller stakes player online to make a living at cherokee is if they have to travel far to play.

5) Even though I think some of the winrates discussed are fairly easily achievable on weekends (like I said I don't know how weekdays are, 30$/hr should still be easily doable), I do agree there being a consistent 2/5 game would be a great improvement.

How many hands/hr do they average on the computer tables at Cherokee? Is it much faster than live?

40-50 usually sometimes more, live is normally anywhere between 20-35 (35 being the very very topend).

Uhhhhhh, there's a reason it is widely thought that a 10$nl winning players can beat 1/2nl live with a solid win rate. Has nothing to do with being elitist or cocky, or being a hotshot. Fact of the matter is as long as they can adapt to playing exploitively live, their fundamental knowledge of the game is way better than 90% of live players.

I never really saw the average potsize go over 75$, it generally was between 40-70$ over 20 hours of play during prime time weekend hours.

I move to start using the Bling measurement universally.

Came across this website, which is pretty much the nuts for comparing prices of hotels in the area.

http://www.cherokeesmokies.com/ (lodging section on left menu)

So far I've found as low at 94 $ for 2 nights.

i made a living playing online(mostly omaha and omaha/8 the last few years). i moved to asheville a couple months ago. i think i'm ready to get back in the live hold em mix. unfortunately most of my roll is still tied up. if anyone wants to carpool, share gas costs or share a room, let me know. probably would only want to go up weekends for now.

Have a room booked for thurs/fri night at http://www.mountainshops.com/newfoundlodge/index.html (cheapest place I could find 106 + tax for 2 nights). 2 Beds so anyone thats planning on going either of those days and is interested in chopping the room let me know. Fair warning, I sometimes snore pretty loud (usually only if I pass out from being hammered). I'll most likely leave around 3-4pm sat.

Couple tips for people if you are trying to save money like me.

1) Continental breakfasts are awesome, I generally try to time coming back to the hotel/motel at the time they start serving breakfast. Eat some, and take some up to your room for later.

2) If they have a fridge bring some of your own food and throw it in there.

3) Come with cash, they charge pretty hefty fees to put money from your CC/debt card onto your total rewards card (what you use for the tables)

This is a pretty easy way to save a good chunk of dollars depending on how long you are staying (I spent 0$ on food last weekend and I was there from 8am friday morning till 6pm sat night). Every dollar counts.

Do games pretty much dry up on Sundays?

Sunday games can be pretty good. Can get down to 4 tables, but sometimes more. Played Sunday the 17th and there was 7 tables when I got there and 4 when I left about 10:30 pm. The action that night was a little tighter, ave. 3-4 players per hand. Ave pot approx. $50 and ave. player had probably $220 in front of them. Playing approximately 44 hands per hour.

Ill probably PM quite a few people in this thread that mentioned splitting rooms and what not. Duck, I may can come up with a friend Friday morning and take the costs of 2/3 of the room one night if you didnt mind a guy sleeping on the floor. Odds are high, only one of us would even use the room. Im 31 all of my friends are about the same, about as laid back a group of people you can get. I just cannot drive at the moment so Id always be coming with another until I actually move to Asheville. There are like 4 of us now that are former online players looking to travel to Cherokee and WV pretty frequently. Other guy that lives in Asheville and might go every weekend, Ill PM you as well as Ill be living in Asheville by June.
