A poker player was robbed Saturday morning at Cherokee. There was a guy hanging out in the poker room getting buddy buddy with all the players. He ends up trying to get people to follow him outside to get a $500 60 inch TV. The old man who went out to get the TV ended up being robbed at knife point. The guy took around 800 dollars. Police where called. Just a warning to all 2+2ers.

Wow and i'll have been consistently complaining about the lack of security in the poker room. On top of that the room is located next to the outside door on the SIDE of the casino. This road is used for utility vehicles and some bus drop offs. It was a matter of time. Another story to support what i've been saying. I like the action but gee whiz. Thanks for the update Polo.

Not surprising. I've been pestered by someone before that i felt like was trying to set me up, but he was trying to get me "in to a home game" at a bar near where i live.

My understanding is we can still have security go out with us if we feel like we need it. I just wish there was some kind of presence in the parking lots to respond if there was a problem.

Man I didn't see this before I went. Well, the 3 of us were safe! All ended up .. up. Didn't see anyone trying to hussle/hassle anyone. If you were there I was the guy with a shaved head + darth vader T-shirt. Right on about the regs. My first 4 hour session was at a table full of regs and it was a cake walk

Word going around that Cherokee has changed the comp system. Instead of awarding comp points on a per hour basis, now, it is rumored that they are going to a system whereby a tight passive player might get a few points an hour, an aggressive lag or maniac might get 10 times as many.

Was told this applied to tier points only. Confirmation needed.

Nothing has changed yet, but they are looking at how to be fair on comps. If it does get changed it wouldn't make any difference whether you were passive or aggresive as it wouldn't be based on flops seen, just hands played. So if you are on a fast paced game more comps, slow game or you sit out hands less comps. Also looking at 1 hr. time played for every tournament played.

AFAIK, tier points are (or were) being awarded at 24 per hour of actual time played. The system already tracks the time correctly as it does not count when you sit out.

I was told (rumor) that they were going to go with something related to amount wagered per hour played (amount wagered is already tracked by the system). This might be deemed consistent with the way comps are awarded at floor play. Obv. this would hurt tight players a lot if it were implemented in poker. Would not be happy about it.

I appreciate the information and hope you will keep us updated.

I played there the other day ... about 6 hours. Got 160 tier points so 24points an hour sounds about right.

They have started basing time played on hands played. Every 40 hands played gives you one hr. played. So 120 hands played equals 3 hrs. You get 28 tier credits for every hour played (40 hands). On a different subject, sometime in May they will be moving the poker room to the new section and adding 3 games. This will really help on weekends and finally allow them to run muti-game tournaments. Yea.

Will be trying to get Omaha running again... if interested make sure to put your name on the list. Last time, most players playing didn't even put their name on the list and it almost didn't get started.

All 1/2 tables, prolly 7 of them....and one 3/6 limit table.....wait will be an hour or so to get seated. Tons of calling stations, overbets normally get paid off...good luck

Going to be in Cherokee for memorial Day, am a Diamond Club member does that get any edge in seating for the poker tables as it does for food, cashier, etc?
GF does not gamble, so may be there late after she goes to bed, so how late do the games typically go on crowded weekends?
Thanks

No edge for Diamond cardholders as far as waitlist, but the games should run late. One or two will probably last most of the night.

As far as the cashier, sign-up for PokerPro account and load money on you Harrah's card. The PokerPro cage is just a few steps from the poker room.

They need to come up with a promotion for Atlanta area players. Biloxi and Tunica casinos are now offering airfare and hotel packages. Less incentive to make the drive to NC from ATL.

Latest scoop from Cherokee. The poker room will most likely be down most of this Thurs. at least until the afternoon. When it reopens it will be in the new section on the other side of the casino with 10 games. Should really help of weekends and with tournaments.
