We get .70 cents an hour for poker. We do get tier points per hour, but I'm not sure how many. People can make Diamond card just from poker.

I'm in the same boat; only get weeknight room offers.

Not really reduced, but $5 max on any pot. $30 pot=$3. $35 pot=$3.50.

$700 pot=$5.

So how does everyone like playing on these electronic tables? Do you feel its close enough to a live poker game with chips and cards that its worth making the drive from Atlanta?

When the table gets down to five handed or less the rake is reduced to $3 max/hand. (10% up to $3)

No dealer. No dealer's errors. No dealer to tip. Less angle shooting. Smoother faster game. No cards. No chips.
Yes, it is worth the trip.

With the long wait list, What is the amount of time you can lock up a seat and go eat or something to that nature?

Thirty minutes and thats not enough time to go and eat. When you log out it starts the clock running but you aren't automatically kicked off. The brush has to do it manually.

Options:

1. Have someone bring you food.
2. Bring food.
3. Order from a waitress and tip. Downside is that you can't pay for it with your comp points.
4. You can try and sit out and run back to the Express but when the lines are long you might not make it back.
5. You can place an order at Sycamores and dash over and pick it up and get back in time generally.

Sometimes folks will duck in and play a few hands and log back out and go to get their food.

Another practice generally frowned upon is to loan your card to someone and have them log you in and fold a hand to reset your clock. Someday this is going to start some trouble.

We had at one point this past weekend 30+ players waiting for a seat at 2 am.

Looking ahead, I've been told that once the new poker room is up they will have a window right in the poker room where you can order and pick up food. If that pans out it will be nice for those of us who just can't leave when the action is good.

Especially since its gonna be months till that's cleared up . I'll be back.
How tough is it to get a comped room for poker play? Any details?

I only play poker, and get free weeknight offers. Also, sometimes, get a weekend offer for a "partner hotel." (One night at a local hotel)

Just got back. Wednesday night was somewhat busy. We had 4 tables of 1/2and 1 table of O8. I played the O8 for 5 hours and it was still going when I left after midnight. (First time I've seen an O8 game that strong during the week.)

This past Friday there was another PLO8 game started, however, the floor started the game as PLO. Play continued for at least an hour before players noticed that the table wasn't paying low hands (not sure if any made low hands were showdown or why it took an hour for the players to notice as I wasn't at the table). The interesting part was the casino's reaction to its mistake. After not paying low hands for over an hour the casino gave all players in the game a food comp to the casino restaurant of their choice. Think about the money you could lose in an hour of chasing and making non-existent low hands! Keep in mind the floor person did set up the game as PLO when the players had started and signed up for a PLO8 list. It was clearly the floor persons fault, yet the casino acted as if it wasn't a major mistake.

This is just one example of how awful the floor is at Cherokee! There are people who have never been around a poker table before being granted the position of running this poker room! The only consistent aspect of how the room is managed is the inconsistency! Cherokee has great potential once the room is relocated into its permanent place at the completion of the expansion. This is of course assuming they get rid of the baboons managing this poker room on a daily basis! Disclaimer: there are a select few who do an exceptional job of running the room (ex. Dave, Anthony etc.) however they don’t work 24/7. If you are planning a trip to Cherokee in the future, it is still worth the trip however be prepared for the mismanagement of the room!

I've been to Cherokee the past 4 weeks and won each time avg. 450 bucks at 1/2 NL tables for an average of 4 1/2 hours each trip. I haven't had the luck either. I've seen so many players dump money and it's frustrating to not get in those pots, lol. But i'm thankful to come out on top each time. The comps suck, the beer is 5 bucks, the lines after 1pm are 4-5 hours wait. They are getting more tables soon. There's no other casino or competition in the area. I like the set up. The bathrooms are close. The outside doors are next to the tables to take a break. 30 minutes sucks but oh well. No need to whine we have poker. Its strange....you set up an account with your Harrahs award card and put money on it and that's how you log into the game. The money on the card can only be used to play poker, not slots or food. Unless you have points. If you plan to play and eat for free forget it.........just be ready to pay for it or bring your own food, lol. I like the idea of getting a receipt of your deposit and withdraw, a track record of your play. I can't wait to go again next week the money is EASY. Even the so called local PROS .. ehhhhh hemmmmm are DONKS, lol.

They have 50 dollar sit n gos with 10 dollar entry fee. But there is something i didn't appreciate as a player. Players left the ring tables to play in the sit n gos and had their name on the list to sit back at the ring games. When i put my name on the list the management said i had to not only wait for them to get done with the sit n go but wait for them to get back at the ring game table when seats were open.. The dayum management held seats for sit n go players and that's not fair. When i show concern they sat me out of turn. The management team are rude and talk bad to players. I do believe this is because of the frustration of long lines. But no excuse get rid of the old female managers.

Seriously a 4-5 hour wait recently? Is that only during certain days / times, or pretty much all the time?

According to your post, you are averaging $100/hr. playing 1/2 without being "lucky". How much do you think you could have won if you had been lucky?
Why are you not already a local pro? Just curious.

I knew i'd get your attention. lol My point was alot of players come in dumping alot of money and i haven't had the opportunity to benefit from that. As far as how much who knows.......lol. I not a local player i travel once a week. I did put a 'dig' in my post about SOME of the local players. But i'm right, lol. If I stepped on your toes take it to the tables it's my opinion. I'm supporting the fact that Cherokee is a goldmine right now. Am sure you agree.

I am heading up to Cherokee this Thursday FRiday and Saturday. Any 2+2ers plan to be there?

Also, is it true you can not listen to a ipod?

Also, will they start bigger games than 1/2NL?

I'll be going there this weekend and they usually open up a 2/5 NL game. As far as the ipod situation i just had to call to ask. I talked to Teresa who is working the floor today. She said it is a Cherokee casino rule only inforced by them that no electronic devices such as phones, ipods, and ear devices can be used. The same applies not only to the poker pro tables but the slot machines and blackjack tables, etc. I asked if it affects the electronics and they said no they just don't want to allow it to promote a no hassel atomosphere..........whatever that means lol.

So good luck polo and i'll see you there maybe.

I'll be there on Saturday. Probably get there about noon. Should I expect to have to wait for a table at noon on Saturday?

No. At noon, it will just really be cranking-up.

Played there for first time a couple of Friday's ago. Got there about 1, there were 4 tables going and they fairly quickly started another 1-2 table (though they waited for full table to do so). I asked about 2-5 list a few times, but floor just kinda shrugged. Regs I met said 2-5 generally runs Saturday only, and that it often breaks quickly. Played 12 hour session of 1-2 where average pot size was over $140, so that worked out nicely.

By Friday night there was a long list.....if you don't want to risk losing your seat, order table service. Food is awful, btw. Ipod rule applies, but regs at my table advised to run it up through shirt and that most, but not all of floor would not enforce it when room is full.

Heading to the Beau this weekend for the start of the Spring Break series, but definitely be get back to Cherokee in near future. Good luck!

Good luck. Have fun.

They are a lot of "grinders" that are always there. They just play real tight poker. Nothing special. One or two are clever players, but most are just tight.
